Yeah no. The "average man" is not a near-incel who can only get laid through an elaborate scheme of supplication. I thought even the older TRP people said this--their "average" guy could get a girlfriend if he looked for one, and maybe had one or two ONS's a year if he was single. And that's...kind of what "regular" guys in their 20s lives look like from where I'm standing.

The only problem is "average guy" and "median guy out of a group of men who sought out an internet forum to gamify casual sex and dating" are not even remotely similar.

I don’t know. Like a year or so ago we’ve become inundated with a bunch of comments essentially implying that “average men” or “most men” are close to incels getting no genuine sexual desire from any woman. Then if you point out average men get GFs and wives every day they respond with “beta bucks” or something.

When I first started posting here no one was running around saying most men are basically sexually doomed.

one important thing to note is the effect of male attractiveness/SMV being based on multiple characteristics.

to simplify, let's just say a man's SMV is based on his looks/money/status. you can mentally change L/M/S to whatever you want, the point is that it's based on mutliple (semi-) independent factors.

and let's say that average women generally want a guy who is at least above average in each of those categories. because hypergamy. every individual woman is different, but in general that seems like a pretty reasonable baseline.

the somewhat counterintuitive part of this is that a guy who is in the top 50% of looks AND the top 50% of money AND the top 50% of status will be significantly higher than the 50th percentile overall. if these things were completely independent and a random distribution (they're not) you would expect that only the 12.5% of men would above average in all three of those categories (50% X 50% X 50%).

in the real world, there is some correlation between attractiveness and success. and there are also a small number of men who are so exceptional (like top 1%) in one particular area that they can still be successful regardless of being below average in other areas. so it ends up being more than 12.5% of dudes who meet that general baseline.

but this does help to explain the two seeming contradictory ideas:

a LOT of guys struggle with women and dating and sex and seem basically invisible. many guys may be decent in some areas and think that will make up for being below average in other areas. but really, their shortcomings are a complete dealbreaker for many women.
it's surprisingly easy to make it into the "top 20%" of men who receive a disproportionate amount of attention from women - you don't have to be amazing in every characteristic that contributes to SMV, or even amazing in any particular characteristic. just be decent in every way.
being misled by men who do well because they are exceptional in one area. a lot of guys will see a tall, shredded Chad who is in the top 1% of looks who does well with women despite being a broke loser and will think that looks are all that matters. or they will see a top 1%er rich guy who does well with women despite being ugly and awkward and think money is all that matters.

most men will gain the most by focusing on fixing their flaws rather than trying to become so exceptional in other areas that their flaws will be ignored. a fat guy who already has a good job and social life should focus on losing weight instead of trying to make so much money that women ignore his fatness. a decent looking guy who is a weirdo loser with no friends should focus on improving his social skills and status instead of being that weird guy who stays in the gym 24/7.

the use of average here is incorrect IMO

when i say "average" i mean EITHER the most common looking man in a local SMP OR the average development of masculine and feminine ratios and symmetry (average on this scale generally being "plain" of both sexes).

an example of local SMP and common would be something like the height of men in my city's general young SMP. in philadelphia the most common "white" ethnes are irish italian and jewish, this leads to a WAY shorter average SMP than say if you live in the scandinavian heavy upper midwest, scandinavians trending WAY taller than italian men. for "average ratios" refer to this

for some reason "average" to most men here means "the statistical average as reported by the CDC irrespective or race, region, age, etc" or when asked to produce a picture of the "average" man (in the US) the post a picture of a middle eastern man

If you've been paying attention, a lot of posts over the last year or so have had no purpose other than to attempt to normalize the way incels et al experience life. They are easy to spot. Look for a sense of resignation with clouds of self-pity, all pointing to some (usually) female trait that has doomed some part of their life to ruin.

They will stand out because they are missing any sense that the poster is interested in improving their lot.

You can’t expect men to have a straightforward or rational assessment of who is average compared to them. It’s just not in their nature, but you can watch their behavior.

Cause women look at the male CEOs, celebrities, and other hugely successful guys and conflate this experience with that of the average dude which they just can't understand as their SMV is handed to them right off the bat.

A lower middle class girl and guy from the same family will live entirely different lives at this point. She'll live a life of constant praise throughout school, be treated to experience after experience, be championed no matter whether she wants to be a stay at home mom or a career gal, just a life of ease and happiness no matter what decisions she makes. The average guy is not an incel and can find some casual sex (without high standards). However the average guy's sex life pales in comparison to Chad or Tyrone and will never be able to provide the mind blowing orgasms that they could give his girl.

I once read an article where a woman admitted that most women don't get to marry their best sex. It was eye opening on the difference being with one attractive man was and being with her husband. She really explained this well, like she felt alive with these hot guys while her husband makes her feel lethargic compared to them.

It's quite scary to think about how you pale in comparison to the haves and you'll always remain a have not. Like a homeless person comparing themself to Bill Gates, it really shows how limited you really are.

Feminism has inadvertently caused the average man to feel ugly. By inspiring women to gain autonomy over their lives and the choices that they make it has had a trickle effect in the romantic sense. Because now women are expecting more from men. Better money, better looks, and better conversation. But the average man is just average. He can try to improve but he'll never reach the expectations of women. Expectations that don't match the reality of the real world.

Yet these women, thanks to the thirsty desperation of men, will always find someone to meet their lofty standards. Thus condemning the average man ever further down the mediocrity tunnel.
