More often than not, there are claims of agency on how a woman should dress, that she shouldn’t “dress provocatively” and that it somehow disrespects the man - though two key questions are worth asking, what IS dressing provocatively? and why date a woman who dresses a way you don’t like to begin with? i’ll only focus on the first question, but it does tie into question 2.

“provocative” in terms of dressing incredibly subjective and differs from person to person - ex. if showing skin is provocative, then why is skin tight clothing also not considered provocative? if wearing shorts at the gym is provocative, then why is it acceptable in a hot summer’s day? better yet - what should she do in a hot summer’s day? if the concern is men looking at her, then where does that contextually fit? also, is a backless dress, or a dress with some cleavage, or a dress with an exposed leg or even a dress showing her shape all considered provocative, what then?

what if she dressed a certain way before y’all started to date, if it is consisted provocative to you then why even date her? or if you start dating her in the winter, and only find out she dresses such a way in the summer, why try to change her and object?

the idea of “dressing provocatively” is entirely subjective and differs greatly from person to person - given that, why is the man’s definition of provocative more relevant than the woman’s?
