What I'm asking is, how important is it in a relationship that a woman makes a man "feel like a man." How important it is that a man feels like he can protect and provide for her, like he can lead, like he is strong.

America, I feel is more left-leaning after feminism put more women in the workplace and gave them equality back in the 1900s. Despite America going out of its way to defy and even redefine gender roles (to an unhealthy extreme in my eyes), some men still want to fulfill their traditional role, and some women are starved for those men.

Some men still want to feel like men. They want to feel like they can be strong for her and protect her--one reason why I think short girls are so popular with men. Some men still want to feel like providers, which is why some men feel worried when their woman outearns them; they worry what she thinks about them. Some men want to feel like they can lead and like their woman will be in good hands. Some men, to make a long story short, want to be their woman's hero.

I'm a man who doesn't have ANY of those desires; I don't need to be needed. And like I said in the last paragraph, not all men share these emotional needs. So I want to ask you all, how important is it really? How much do you think men need to be needed? And it's not required, but I feel like it makes your answers more meaningful if you can mention your personal experiences.
