Q4W: Difference between Hotness and Prettiness with respect to Attractiveness and Sexual Desire

Attractiveness would be more important to me. Attractiveness involves everything from looks to charm, charisma, style, height, lifestyle, emotional connection etc.

I can acknowledge a good looking man and not be attracted to him, I guess that would be the “prettiness” category. I need the additional traits to be attracted for sex. For the most part women’s attraction is not spontaneous. But a guy in the prettiness category is worth getting to know and sometimes being approached depending on the woman.

I acknowledge Henry Cavill, Idris Elba, Michael B Jordan, Chris Evans, George Clooney all look amazing but since idk them personally I don’t feel the need to want to do anything with them (unless in Fantasy land if they were to initiate 1st) then we can get to know each other and go from there. Then they can be upgraded to “attractiveness”.

Every man I've been attracted to started with the face. The body is secondary, and as long as it fits loose parameters (skinny, sinewy, symmetrical) then it only serves to support the face.

I've never seen a male body and felt spontaneous lust.

Lust is a response to a familiar man that fits my parameters expressing desire for me.

If he fits my physical parameters but does not express desire or me, then I feel no lust for him.

I've never felt sexual desire for a stranger.

Fashion and style influence my curiosity to get to know a man. If he dresses in a style I like, and fits my physical attraction parameters, I'll want to get to know him. Upon establishing rapport if he expresses desire for me, then I will feel lust for him.

A man has to clear:

style
face (primary)
body (secondary)
rapport
expression of desire for me

for me to feel lust for him. But this feeling DOES NOT EQUAL engaging in sexual activity with unknown men.

In a relationship the 5 conditions are already met, so sexual desire is controlled by the health and stability of the relationship. If I feel good and safe with my husband, I'll want to have sex with him. But if there is tension or bad feelings with my husband, then I will not want to have sex with him.

I can't feel attraction on the spot or to a person who I don't know well. So visually pretty people are all in "prettiness" category for me. The difference in prettiness and hotness isn't in appearance or some visual traits, but rather in the smell and emotional connection. I don't care about gender either, as I can fall both for men or women, but I take my time and I live my life viewing almost 100% of population as totally non-sexual beings.

The outcome of it is that I've never had sex outside of committed relationship. I have no desire for strangers/people I'm not close with.

There were three guys in my life that made me take a second look cause they were exceptionally good looking. I admired their beauty like I admire exceptionally good looking women, and did not have a single ounce of sexual attraction towards them. All the guys I have felt sexual towards, it only happened after I had formed a close relationship with, and there was no overlap with those three forementioned guys.

I am unsure how much of my experience is the norm, but I think women in general can't feel sexual towards looks alone unless she has already made up a script in her mind or is being driven by status. Women didn't masturbate using magazines, and Playgirl magazine didn't do well with women that much and most of its readership was gay dudes apparently.

Human eyes are a bit stupid, and it is possible to balance out features or make one look more harmonious by tricking the eyes using optical illusions. In general, I think style could be more of an ick than a plus. For example, I hate tattoos and piercings.

I can find someone pretty but not find them hot. I can also find someone hot but I wouldn't say they were conventionally "pretty". The ideal would be pretty and hot.

I like both and I find both equally not compelling as a reason for sex. Prettiness makes me want to look at you like a nice painting. Hottness makes me glance more than once and find something oddly magnetic kind of like a car crash.

I can't say either is more important, they're equally important in my sense of my personal attraction to someone. I think with prettiness it's more gender neutral for me, so it is what allows me to say look at Isabella Roselini and see she's a beautiful woman. Hottness is more only for men for me and is generally more rare. Lots of people are pretty to my eyes, very few get that visceral reaction of hottness.

I wouldn't say either is relevant to my sexual desire. I've got no interest in a stranger and never been motivated towards them sexually. As for my man, there's certainly times my perception of him as attractive/hot/pretty makes him look like a yum yum I want to jump, but I can't say it's ever the leading cause so to speak. Our emotional closeness and relationship and the intimacy therein is what causes that. After all, it took us a long time to boink and he was always that hot and pretty, that didn't change.

I'd say fashion/style impacts both clearly. A person can make themselves appear more or less pretty/hot based on their clothing choices. I don't think it's an accident I've never seen a man in a poorly fitted t shirt/basketball shorts and thought, "wow'.

I find about half the men I play softball and volleyball with to be physically attractive, but I'm not remotely interested in having sex with them because we don't relate to one another on a deeper level. Most are also too old for me.

I prefer fit, active men and I like big shoulders, but they have to like me, too, or it doesn't matter what feature I notice unless it's mutual. I also have a mad crush on the funny fat guy in my group of friends, but since he has a different type than me and isn't interested, I've never flirted or tried anything. But I find him super appealing and sit next to him and bask in his personality and his... bigness every chance I get. He's just fun and gives life-affirming hugs when he's in the mood. He's the best and I'm only one of about ten orbiters. He's just not into us.

I don't like try-hards, so a man wearing his church suit and Hushpuppies to a casual environment just looks ridiculous to me. Overdressed men flashing watches and showing off are just wildly off-putting to me.

But I always admire actual fashion and compliment men and women who express themselves with their style and compliment them.

This is a very good question. Excellent question for women.

I notice and admire pretty people, both male and female. But I don't actually like them or feel attraction unless or until I know a little about them.

How do these two compare for you, what is more important to you and what has a larger impact on youre overall sense of someone being attractive.

I'm a straight woman, so other women are always just in the Pretty category. I suppose a very femme looking man, or a drag queen, would also be Pretty but not Hot.

Otherwise if a man is Pretty, he's also Hot, so long as he has the kind of body type I'm into. (Thicc, soft, overweight, plump, true dadbod, mildly fat...whatever you want to call it.) I don't think my brain has ever separated them for men I find physically and sexually attractive.

Furthermore how do they relate to your sexual desire in the following two cases: a stranger you just met and a long term partner that you trust. Do these have any impact on your own self-motivated desire to have sex? How do they differ?

I find my bf both Pretty and Hot, so want to fuck him all the time. I find a decent amount of strangers both Pretty and Hot, and if I was still single I'd ask them out or try to get to know them. I don't do casual sex, so I wouldn't pursue any sex outside of my committed relationship.

Does fashion and style have an impact on prettiness and hotness for you?

I'm not really interested in fashion. So long as the guy's clothes aren't baggy, dirty, or a color combination that screams he's utterly colorblind...I'm cool with it.
