As for why men do it?
Some lonely men want to feel a level of connection. They either dont care or dont realise the connections doesnt really exist. Some men feel a level of artificial connection beats being completely alone.

I do find the claim that the model "is swindling out of his money," is a bit odd. Most onlyfans creators are in the obvious deal of selling a service for money. Its not some back alley deal and men should be aware of what they are paying for.

Some men are happy to pay for sex, some people think onlyfans can provide a larger level of intimacy. Some men are desperate or not in a good mental state and pay a lot but I dont think that should be punished. People can do this with all sorts of products in the world today.

"Men loneliness" isn't a lack of sex.

It's a lack of feeling loved and desirable.

OF give that. It's false, but for these guys it's better than nothing.

And giving money is a bonus for these guys, because they felt rejected so much they internalized that, so they think so less of themselves that they think the only thing they can give is money. Transactional love seems more stable.

And the people who argue that it's a good thing are just dumbass or heartless. It means they think that all the predatory techniques are a good thing. What a nice world to be where the strong can prey on the weak.

It's a kind of a parasocial relationship. The man gets to feel like the OF girl is "his". He chats with "her" (tho it's most probably not her, but someone hired to do that), she makes content specifically for him, thu he feels special.

I also do not understand why these men won't just pay for an escort, by there must be some psychological explanation.

Unfortunately, in these times people are craving love and connection as much - if not more - than sexual gratification.

OF allows people (men) to get a false sense of intimacy and desire from a model. Not just that they find the model hot, but they get the illusion that they want you.

A woman sharing a nude - even if its across a screen, even though they paid for it, even though she is doing the excat same thing for any other subscriber - can feel like an intimate moment youre part of. Which normal porn does not replicate.

Apparently there is a whole industry now of AI bots trained to respond the subscribers on behalf of the model. So all these dudes think they are getting replied to, but they are actually talking to a bot. Thats really sad.

Because they like it. Sure, there are free alternatives that they might also like, to some extent. But they know they like what they're paying for.

And that's what money's for: to get what you want instead of taking what you can get.

I think that's a reductive characterization of content. For one thing, women aren't interchangeable: there's bound to be some you're more attracted to than others. For another, most creators do more than just stand there naked.

For example, let's say you're really into roleplay in porn. It need hardly be said that the average porn actor isn't great at acting. So if you find one that's actually really convincing, or who writes better scripts, or achieves higher production value, etc., it might be totally worth the premium.

Or it might not. Different people are different about their money, and that's their business.

An underappreciated fact is that the VAST majority of OF subscribers never interact with creators. The "parasocial" aspect of the industry get a lot of attention, but it's not the norm.

What also perplexes me is where these men are able to get this type of money.

There are quite a lot of men in this world who essentially grew up believing that if they got a good career and income one day, the whole woman side of their lives would work itself out. So they spent their youth grinding to become doctors, engineers, business owners, car dealers, etc. They may not have made a ton of time or effort for things like socializing with women or concerning themselves with their appearance. By the time they realize this miscalculation, they feel they are "way behind" and that it is suddenly a lot easier to get the feelings they desire through fantasy, rather than reality.

But that's a mid-case scenario. A lot of men who shell out lots of money on creators don't have much to begin with. They're just... addicted, I guess, like bad gamblers. But most are just very, very lonely. They aren't desperate for sex: they're desperate for connection, even if it's almost entirely in their heads.

Some will argue it is a good thing

Outside of extreme examples, I don't think it's inherently a good or bad thing. It's just entertainment spending. Do it if you enjoy it; don't, if you don't.

$20/month is a lot to you. For others $20 is half of breakfast or parking for 2 hours
