Because fascism is the testosterone flavored version of totalitarianism and authoritarianism. Woman are more prone to support the estrogen flavored versions of the same thing ie socialism and communism.

In the aggregate woman are more authoritarian and more controlling than men. They just go for less overt means.

Men consistently vote for smaller government and woman for bigger. Men for more freedoms and woman for less.

I have a problem with the terms used. How can you say that the right is about freedom and independence and be related to fascism?

Fascism is a collective thing. A system of force for the group. Not for the individual. Just like socialism or communism. I don't think you can pair it with capitalism.

What does right mean? American right? European right? Traditional meaning (French parliament)?

Fascism is about the bourgeoisie protecting the existing power structure by co-opting workers movements with a focus on national struggle instead of the class struggle. Similarly then, men being the dominate sexual class, perhaps unconsciously, do the same, to try to protect what they have.

Fascism might involve cool uniforms so maybe that is appealing. Men get very few opportunities to admire and wear snazzy uniforms outside of sports. Women aren't as drawn to fascism because we are already allowed a wide latitude in clothing choices.

Your question is itself ill-posed.

To ask why you see more men supporting is the wrong question. The right question is why you see fewer women supporting fascism or far right movements.

Most far right movements, in most cases rightly so, are socially unpopular. The real reason is that women cleave to the popular. It is a rare woman that will decide her position, stick her neck out, and go against what is popular.

Take a good look at movies of Hitler's rallies in the 1930s, such as those by Leni Riefenstahl. You see hordes of women involved, in addition to men. Should we infer then that women in 1930s were more right wing than they are today. Or take a look at the giant rallies today in Iran. In right-wing Islamist politicians' cases, the majority of participants at such rallies are women clad in chadors.

No. The right way to think about it is that fascism was popular in the 1930s, and as a result, women were more likely to support it. Women display the same herd mentality when it comes to non-political issues.

Personally, I think women come built in with a source of meaning in life that men don't. By that, I mean a womb, and the capacity to give birth. Having children is a great source of meaning in the lives of both men and women, but women are much more involved in the process than men, and so it requires more of their focus. Men on the other hand must search outwards for meaning in their life, and this involves the creation and fuelling of religions and ideologies that attempt to superimpose a meaning onto their lives. So men form, or are attracted to, a diverse set of religions, philosophies, and ideologies that they can use to give their lives a sense of meaning. Women on the other hand are less invested in this search, as they have the option of finding meaning in their lives by bringing new life into the world.

And again, fascism (a branch on the tree of socialism) is a far-left political ideology. Conservatism (the ideology of the right) is as far from fascism as one could get in both the US and EUR - in the US the right wing is rooted in Constitutionalism and in Europe in Monarchism - neither of which philosophies promote revolutionary socialist ideology (as does fascism).

Get your terms and history straight so as not to post inaccuracies (which are admittedly widespread at this point).

While you're reviewing your history, take note that both Hitler and Mussolini took great pains to cultivate support from women and they were wildly successful at doing so. And apparently remain so.

In the election of 1930, the National Socialist German Workers Party (aka the Nazis) won a greater share of women's votes than all the other parties, despite having no women candidates as opposed to the 637 total women candidates nominated by the competing parties. They did so by garnering support from rural Protestant women - in essence they brought many new women voters into the political sphere. Like their male counterparts, urban women voters tended to vote with the Social Democrats and to a substantially lesser extent the KDP (communists).

And given that left-wing politics are essentially socialist and Early 20th Century Progressive they are anything but "about freedom and independence." Both the Progressive Movement and socialism require big government authoritarianism to be functional as neither is based in the principles of voluntarism - and if a society is to be free and independent it must function based on the principles of voluntarism.

There is no such thing as stable "voluntary" socialism - which is why socialism, authoritarianism, and dictatorship so often walk hand-in-hand throughout the pages of history.

I think women tend to support socially dominant ideologies (the modern left at the moment). I lived in a country where an authoritarian strain of conservatism was socially dominant and women supported it as well. Men tend to be overrepresented in the fringes, and fascism is currently fringe.

It's because the west as a culture is dying. Fascistic tendencies tend to come out when there is a perceived or real threat to one's culture or way of life, in this case it's a real threat. I'm not saying fascism is the appropriate response, but this is what history tends to demonstrate.

Anger, violence, obsession with dominating or being better than others, a sense of being cheated out of something (related to entitlement and temper tantrums), distrust or fear of other races, uneducated and susceptible to propaganda and deceptive "sources", inability to rationalize, conflates any positive emotions or feelings of sympathy with being a "fag", has shitty enabling or absent parents, and a boatload of other factors that make up shitty human beings including sociopathy. I think there are just people out there that have an inability to connect to others (they're usually school shooters, rapists, fascists, abusive in some way, etc) and that makes them prone to being violent or adopting violent ideologies. We live in a society that is more individualistic, cold, and consumption driven rather than community driven than ever before so that certainly makes people more miserable and cut off as well.
