Women's consumer spending is greater than men's because women do the vast majority of household purchasing. They're not spending all that money on beautiful clothes or makeup. If what you're saying were true, you would see marketing of female products targeting their so-called male customers, aka "ask your girlfriend to get this lipstick".

The fact that we don't see that kind of marketing at all, ever, indicates that men are not the customer at all, not even partly. I bet you most men wouldn't be able to name 3 makeup brands in their girlfriend's arsenal.

Women rarely buy clothes for their man, they almost always do it look better than other women, get attention from men and feel better about themselves temporarily.

You pulled among the most common "I do it for me but if questioned, I will put the accountability on my man aka authority without accountability". So you don't feel bad because you can put the blame on your husband's "spending" while enjoying the benefits.

If your husband asks you to buy certain clothes to wear for him, that's something else.

If it wasnt for women, men wouldnt have shit like money or even a barter system, because men are self sufficient. Every man would own a cave, some tools, and some machines he builds and repairs for himself. No trading or buying going on.

Women are the reason consumerism even exists, men are producers. Not spenders. Anything a man buys beyond subsistence level spending is to impress women with his productive potential.

Meanwhile, women buy things because they like shinies. They are like crows, rodents or some other simple minded creature that can't fathom abstract conceptions of value, so they mindlessly collect baubles instead. If a woman has nice things then (and only then) in her mind, she is winning, whereas a man can measure himself by intangibles like his actual accomplishments.

Billion dollar industries thrive on the shallowness of men, women have to spend money on makeup to please men and make the cut to be treated as a human being, no shit. How much makeup do you think a woman actually needs? There's like a thousand different makeup brands that are overpriced simply because they have a 'luxury' brand. Not to mention the products expire after a year, so women stockpile makeup only to throw it away.

It's consumerism at its worst.

I think you are mistaking some english language here my friend. I think you are confusing spending with investing.

Investment have the idea that you will gain more on a later date if you do certain trades. Spending just mean you used some of your resources.

Men invest by, like you say: "buying suits" or "buying programs". As they gain money and/or wants from their employer as a direct causal relation.

Women invest by like you said "buying beautiful clothing" or "buying make-up". As they gain money and/or wants from their partners as a direct causal relation.
