Tennis buffs, correct me if I'm wrong but: isn't the "coaching violation" about the coach, not the player?

I mean if Ramos was looking at the coach when the coach made the gestures (which the coach admits to, btw), he probably didn't even see if Serena was watching him. So it wasn't even an "attack on her character". If anything, it's an attack on the coach's character.

I only feel pity for Osaka. That entitled temper tantrum for one put a damper on her victory. But also since she won because of technical penalties, the victory is empty. To be fair she never really beat her opponent fair and square, so she didn’t really earn the victory. Who knows what could have happened in the last game if there was one? It would have been so much sweeter if she had managed to go all the way, to know she’s actually the better player.

I'm not a tennis fan and couldn't usually care about this match, either way, but I know I've seen men destroy racquets, yell and berate the judge much worse than she did, and the announcers even said the penalties have never happened before. How is that possible? Watching the clip, Osaka looked like she was going to win, anyway, but Serena's point is valid. And to those bitching about her calling out men, there's more history of men throwing hissy fits and breaking racquets. They do it more frequently then women.
