When I did kickboxing and wrestling before they called it MMA. There was a 320 lb guy at the gym I sparred with one time. Guy was 6'2" and did a lot of the wannabe power man exercises I did like pushing vehicles around and walking with two hundred pound block weights in each hand for twenty yards. On weights he wasn't as strong as me but he could still pick me up when I weighted 230 and throw me about.

I'd punch the guy and I'd feel my fists just sinking into his fat before hitting muscle. He move a touch and then be hitting me whiles I was trying to force the impact into his core. Getting him to the ground was tricky because he'd just grab me and literally roll on top of me.

He couldn't run fifty yards without losing breath or exercise for too long, but he was a big ol' fat motherfucker of danger if you weren't careful.

Pleasured football with guys like this. Some of them had no give. The just didn't move when you hit them. hitting then made my head hurt. Edit: Hahaha! Saw comments and was like, "WTF?!!" Reread my comment. "Ummm.....Yyyyeaaaah." Damn autospell!

My senior year of high school I was a center for our football team. We played against a school we never played before in Compton. Those fuckers were massive. Blocking their noseguard was the worst. He was like 6'5" and 350 pounds vs my 6'3" 275 pounds. At one point in he game he just fell on me after I snapped the football. His fucking gut was crushing my head and all I could do was try to punch him and scream at him to get his lard ass off of me. He didn't try to tackle the QB, he didn't try to tackle the ball carrier... He just amused himself by falling on me almost every fucking snap. We ended up winning by 3 but, a win is a win and, we fucking worked our ass' off for that one.

[–][deleted] 12 points13 points14 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

ugh. that's a long day.

[–]paper_liger 10 points11 points12 points 9 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link

Man, I'm built more like a fire hydrant than a refrigerator, but about the only part of football I truly enjoyed was playing noseguard and just systematically ruining a centers evening/season/mental health.

[–]woopsifarted 2 points3 points4 points 9 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

What in the world does "built like a fire hydrant" mean

[–]paper_liger 3 points4 points5 points 9 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

Not particularly tall but moderately massive I guess. When I was really skinny back in the military I was still about 190 pounds without lifting any weights. I was more of a long distance runner, one of the fastest in a unit that had high running standards. Ever seen pro rugby players? In that same general ballpark.

And now I'm built like a fire hydrant with a tire stuck halfway down it.

[–]sigharewedoneyet 2 points3 points4 points 9 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Wow. So descriptive 😘.

[–]paper_liger 2 points3 points4 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

[–]cdc194 0 points1 point2 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I played DT back in the day, your job isnt to go after the quarterback on most plays, its to make a hole for the rushing linebacker or SS, the only time we went after the quarterback was on nickel or dime plays where no backs rushed. I had the interesting experience of being the chubby middle schooler that tossed kids around, and then being the thin and tall junior that played Free Safety and got run over by big guys, I think it was karma.

[–]whater39 0 points1 point2 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Sounds like he "gave you the business "

[–]laxt -1 points0 points1 point 9 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

That sounds like one of those truly earned and rewarding victories. Any humiliation from that guy just falling on you like an ass (you coulda made some fat jokes between plays; start calling him "Happy Meal") should be disregarded, because you won in the end. Congratulations. Seriously.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point2 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Man, I was a sheltered air force brat playing kids from Compton. I wasn't going to talk smack and risk anything. You know what they say, the boys in the hood are always hard, you come talking the trash and they'll pull your card.

[–]captshady 16 points17 points18 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Same here, except I'm the fat guy. Sparred a lot of shorter, thinner guys. Most often, I'd get hit a bunch of times, because of their speed, but when I was fast enough to catch them with a good strike or kick, it would level them. The way I most often got beat was getting worn down cardiovascularly, then getting pounded. There were some guys 1/3rd my weight that were VERY precise in their strikes that could fold me in half in no time. Being huge has plenty of disadvantages but there are a tiny bit of advantages to it.

[–]Skyrmir 2 points3 points4 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Gotta be willing to seriously injure big dudes like that if your gonna throw down. Almost always better to just walk away. Or jog, it's not like they're going to chase you down.

[–]sAlander4 22 points23 points24 points 9 years ago* (12 children) | Copy Link

Fighting fat guys with bit of muscle are the toughest I'd suspect. They can take more punches and if they get on you it's a wrap you'll use all your energy trying to get out from under them while they pound away, well if they have any sense to do so

[–]slopecarver 10 points11 points12 points 9 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

they have gravity on their side when on top.

[–]smittyjones 2 points3 points4 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Plus the momentum of all that weight when throwing punches. And a bit of muscle from having to move all that weight around all the time.

[–]sAlander4 0 points1 point2 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Yup

[–]DionyKH 4 points5 points6 points 9 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link

I used to get into fights a lot at 5'10'' and 240 or so. Chubby/fat whatever you want to call it. I did pretty well, well enough that I was excited when a fight popped off.

Did some friendly wrestling last week at 185, and got my ass handed to me. That mass can plug a lot of technique holes. I can only hope that the hands have picked up a bit of velocity over time. I'm all grown up and I don't get into brawls very often anymore, so I have no clue about those(They always look fast from first person). XD

mma fighter who's about 5'10 240 as well but kicks so much ass.

[–]DionyKH -1 points0 points1 point 9 years ago* (1 child) | Copy Link

Ah. Yeah, no. I was just a chubby kid with anger issues and no father figure to speak of, lol.

I sure miss the glory of it all, there's just some special high about gloating over an ass you just kicked, but I have no desire to return to fighting regularly. XD

HOLY FUCKNUTS.

I look that guy up on google. He goes by the same nickname I used to go by back when I was a fight-prone shithead. "Big Country" dat belly rub lmao

[–]spitfire9107 0 points1 point2 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I love to see him fight tall muscular guys and win.

[–][deleted] -2 points-1 points0 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Nah. They tire quickly from all the fat, are generally slower, and it's not that much padding on the head and face.

There are exceptions to the rule though.

[–]SubjectThirteen -2 points-1 points0 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Neither body fat nor muscle have anything to do with taking a punch, it's a specific to that persons tolerance for pain. Coincidently excess body fat can lower a person's pain threshold.

I wonder if Mike Tyson would let me punch him around the face and then give me an autograph?

[–]I_Just_Mumble_Stuff 18 points19 points20 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

[–]Einmensch 1 point2 points3 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I've seen plenty of videos of people trying to fight others. The main difference is that men expect to get hit back and just overestimate their abilities. Women usually don't expect guys to defend themselves against them at all. Both types are stupid and both are common.

If they are coming at you and you need to defend yourself and there is no other way to avoid the fight, absolutely. You never know when someone is going to get a lucky shot in and turn into a psychopath when they get you on the ground. Always avoid the fight if possible, but never let them get the first shot in and never fight fair.

This subreddit isn't for the random hatred of women and spewing how much certain comedians dislike women, it's for women who think that because they're women they have special privileges, promptly resulting in the swift egalitarian reminder that, we are all human and thus deserve to be treated with the utmost scrutiny and fall under the same reigns of fire.

And no, before you say it, I'm not some white-knight, or SJW, or Feminist. I'm just moderate. Dude above above was pretty obviously just ragging on women to rag on women at this point.

edit: I'm in the wrong here, but I'm choosing to leave it up because I feel it wouldn't achieve anything to take it down other than me saying that I haven't learned anything from this, and that I would just be deleting the comment to avoid getting anymore negative karma, which isn't the goal I want to achieve. I want to thank those who replied to me and engaged in a healthy dialogue to help me better understand both this sub and what I did wrong here.

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points4 points 9 years ago* (2 children) | Copy Link

Okay I'll admit I was 100% in the wrong here. I made a judgement too quickly without checking the source. That is completely my bad.

However, I feel the need to at least say a few things in rebuttal. Sarcasm is very hard to read in text, especially since I'm not all that familiar with what the community of the subreddit is like. I came from /r/all, and only really browse the sub occasionally. Unfortunately, it's hard to check every person's history, because from my perspective the things he said weren't even particularly on the "extreme" end of things I've seen people comment genuinely before, and have those genuine comments actually upvoted.

I understand Poe's law, but at the time it seemed like run of the mill dumb reddit shit, and I felt the need to call it out. However, my initial response was too hasty, and to that I do apologize.

You're absolutely right about the ego dance. I've caught myself wondering a lot of the time if what I'm saying is actually constructive or if it's me just wanting to say "I'm right, you're wrong, piss off". That sort of dialogue never seems to actually achieve anything other than both parties thinking they're in the right. It's an arrogant power-struggle over two angry parties who both end up feeling antagonized.

At the same time though, it's very difficult to actually start a constructive dialogue on the internet, since people have the option to disconnect or shut down the other party with usually little to no consequence.

And also, going back to the lack of understanding sarcasm, anonymity takes a key point of conversation away, tone and body language, and adds a new very difficult and subjective layer, interpretation. Much like how one determine's an author's meaning when reading a book, people on the internet have a lot more power to read in-between the lines and, in their mind interpret the tone of the comment themselves, which could be wildly different from the way the original commenter intended it.

Anyways, thank you for giving me the benefit of the doubt and sitting down for a healthy dialogue. It really was eye-opening, and I learned a lot from both your introspection, and the introspection it led me to do. Cheers.

I love how there's zero reaction from the other 2 girls while the one is punching his head, but the instant he puts his arms around her they both get up and move towards him.

[–][deleted] 308 points309 points310 points 9 years ago (90 children) | Copy Link

Same with the teacher.

When she was hitting him the teacher was just like "Hey, hey"

Then "OMG!" When he scooped her.

[–]TicTacToeFreeUccello 194 points195 points196 points 9 years ago (7 children) | Copy Link

Probably because those wimpy little punch/slaps were so meager that they didn't really warrant a "OMG" response. That sick body slam on the other hand, was probably a surprise.

[–]wessideride 80 points81 points82 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Agree. It went from 'oh.' to 'OH SHIT!'. Also, they didn't really step forward, if anything it was a flight response kicking in cuz shit just got super real.

[–]srtor 19 points20 points21 points 9 years ago* (1 child) | Copy Link

Absolutely. People like /u/TicTacToeFreeUccello are the problem.

Does not matter what is the gender, rather who is the perpetrator. Here those two dimwitted women first ignored the advance of the perp, and it was already out of control when they finally reacted. They are as guilty as the girl who started it.

Pussypass denied.

[–]TicTacToeFreeUccello 0 points1 point2 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I was commenting on the 2 seconds of reaction we could see in this gif being proportionate to the amount of force being used. Being slapped in the back of the head does not elicit the same emotional response from other people as being full-on body slammed. Doesn't matter if it was a man or a woman in instigating in this situation, most people would react to the body slam more so than the slaps. I never said she didn't get what she deserved, just that the reactions from other people in the room were totally normal. One of the women who is facing the two in the altercation can be seen looking on with shock as soon as the girl starts hitting the man. The other woman facing away from him, there-for not actually witnessing the initial assault, turns around after she hears and probably feels the girl hitting the ground. They both then look around in shock. What the fuck about the way these women reacted to this makes them seem dimwitted to you? The way they reacted to this seems identical to the way they would have reacted if the instigator was a man.

And plenty of squabbles end just as quickly as they started. Just because someone gets hit doesn't mean the other person is going to go full out. It's called intimidation, most people back down when confronted with violence. Doesn't always work, and those end up on worldstar.

If someone touches you while acting aggressive that's more than enough reason to shut them down in the most effective way possible in my opinion. Had he hit her the conflict would have just escalated further. Had he ignored her, he would be bruised up after being socially antagonized.

I think he did the right most effective thing.

[–]paralegalchute5 points 9 years ago [recovered] (15 children) | Copy Link

I'm afraid that's not how the justice system works. The moment you incite the opportunity, whether the other finishes it or not, he/she is acting in self-defense. Whether it begins with a jab or a body throw, the person who initiates physical unwanted contact is at fault, in most cases.

Let me give you an example: You're in a bar with some friends. A drunk guy keeps yelling at you and calling you a pussy and tells you he slept with your significant other and whatever litany of idiot remarks he can think of. Finally, after 2 hours of avoiding him and him harassing you verbally, you say, "Why don't we take this outside".

Just with saying that, it doesn't matter what happens next, if you or he throws the first punch, you invited the opportunity, you escalated it. You would likely be at fault, because if not for you inviting him outside, a physical altercation would not have taken place.

Now substitute an invitation to go outside and settle it, with running up to the person and jabbing them a few times (regardless of size difference), if that person feels threatened and feels they are at risk of impending attack, he can retaliate in self-defense.

Now I say all this with the caveat of, common sense and adults.

These kids aren't adults, so it's a different ball game, not nearly the same guilt apportionment.

And common sense is, yes supposedly gender equality means on all fronts, and yes if anyone attacks you you should defend yourself. But a jury of your peers does not look kindly on a 200+ male body slamming a >120 pound female.

I didn't say it was fair, or right. But it's already been established that the american judicial system is biased, both with race and gender.

"You have no expertise in this area" = "Arguing from Ignorance".

You've made a statement and then affirmed your own conclusion. We all get that there are a lot of internet lawyers and doctors, however I've never said I was a lawyer. I have some experience with the law from working in law firms for years and because I am currently attending law school. In this instance I could do what you did, assume that you did not go to school and say that "you have no expertise in this area and therefore cannot dismiss what little knowledge of the law I do have considering you've never studied law". But I don't know you, and so I don't assume how much you do or don't know about the law, as you've done with me.

"You are wrong on at least your first point" = Affirmation of your own argument without supplementing any actual counterpoint.

Not sure why you typed out this entire essay, but really you people are reading what you want to at this point.

My point was a comparison of a jab to slamming someone on the ground and how you deal with each situation. It was plain and simple. Yet somehow you people can't seem to comprehend that, so you're just replying with imaginary scenarios and other nonsense.

[–]paralegalchute7 points 9 years ago [recovered] (6 children) | Copy Link

Well firstly, by your logic any time anyone uses an example it is "imaginary and nonsensical", that doesn't bode well for the English language.

Secondly, "you are reading what you want", "you people can't seem to comprehend", "you're just replying with imaginary scenarios and other nonsense" are all just forms of ad-hominem. So you're not really adding anything to your argument.

[–]HOEDY -4 points-3 points-2 points 9 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link

Why do people do this? Argue about arguing and how to argue correctly ?

[–]paralegalchute4 points 9 years ago [recovered] (4 children) | Copy Link

Well that's one way to look at it. If you don't want anyone to ever argue I'm not sure much would ever be resolved.

And if you don't like people pointing out logical fallacies in arguments, then it kind of makes for a slow moving debate when you can just declare anything your opponent says as "nonsensical", and the person is not allowed to respond or refute it because it..."is arguing about how to argue"...

I'm just saying, I understand not everyone likes to argue, but you can't tell people on a site forum for exchanging ideas, opinions, and arguments, that they are not allowed to debate because it's "annoying".

[+]tastycummies2 -9 points-8 points-7 points 9 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

Having a right to defend yourself is different than the right of overreacting.

If someone gives you a jab on the shoulder that doesnt even make you flinch, you are not in danger. You're the one escalating the situation by literally throwing her on the floor like a sack of potatoes.

Push her away from you and make her understand that she shouldn't do it again, that's what normal people would do. But this is overreacting at its finest.

Ever hear of the phrase 'equal rights, equal fights'?

No one deserves to be attacked, and just because her best efforts were less effectual than his doesn't mean the intent was any different.

You are advocating the idea that someone who is defending themselves should have the responsibility of minimizing harm to their attacker. And I somehow suspect that you would react differently if the genders were reversed.

I only found this post because it made it to all, and there is something of a current of bitterness towards women in this subreddit. But a lot of it seems like an honest reaction to the injustice of traditional gender roles. Just because you were born a man shouldn't mean that you should have to absorb abuse from another person. If you think this guy shouldn't have the right to defend himself it sounds like you who are 'fucked'.

[–]tastycummies2 -2 points-1 points0 points 9 years ago (10 children) | Copy Link

Ever hear of the phrase 'equal rights, equal fights'?

Yes. What the fuck does have to do with the gif?

No one deserves to be attacked, and just because her best efforts were less effectual than his doesn't mean the intent was any different.

Oh really? Imagine if a 12 year old kid is angry at a 20+ year old for whatever reason and starts punching him. You don't feel it at all, but his intent was to hurt you because he was angry. He should be beaten to a pulp for that, right? It's only intent that matters, or maybe using appropriate force for every situation is the good way to go about it?

The first, ofcourse.

You are advocating the idea that someone who is defending themselves should have the responsibility of minimizing harm to their attacker. And I somehow suspect that you would react differently if the genders were reversed.

I am advocating that because that's exactly how it works. Just because you got attacked first doesn't mean you have the fucking right to kill. Are you insane? She threw a jab at him and he slams dunk her. Slap that cunt, push her away from you, that's what you should be doing.

And I somehow suspect that you would react differently if the genders were reversed.

Based on what - a convenient strawman?

[–]paper_liger 5 points6 points7 points 9 years ago* (9 children) | Copy Link

Oh, I was unaware that she died.

In fact you clearly don't understand how self defense works. Disparity of force isn't in play here. She is the aggressor, and he used the same level of force she did, his bare hands. She started the fight, he finished it. If he kept kicking her once she was on the ground that's one thing, but you seem to think that there is some imaginary rule about what's allowable in a fight.

The age disparity is stupid, because there is no age disparity in this video as far as I can tell. It's two peers, one of whom thought that they were immune from the rules and that they could assault someone who was their physical superior without consequence.

What happened here is that she started a fight with someone she clearly shouldn't have. Great job victim blaming though.

[–]tastycummies2 -2 points-1 points0 points 9 years ago (8 children) | Copy Link

Disparity of force isn't in play here, because she is the agressor, and he used the same level of force she did, his bare hands.

So if someone slaps me in the face i can pummel his head until his brain is scattered all across the floor because i just used my hands like the aggressor did?

And you tell me i dont understand how self defence works?

Psycho.

[–]paper_liger 4 points5 points6 points 9 years ago (7 children) | Copy Link

You can hit them back or knock them on the ground, and doing so more effectively than your attacker doesn't make you wrong, it makes you the winner . He stopped her attack. He didn't 'pummel her until her brains were scattered all across the floor'. That's what's called 'ridiculous hyperbole'.

Obviously you haven't been in a lot of fights, because 'pummeling' is a multiple step process. This was a one step rejoinder.

Also, just a note, name calling might make you feel better but it won't make you correct.

When the big guy in class says something you don't like, and you decide you want to hit him, pull your phone out and google "woman hits fat guy" and watch some of the videos. This may dissuade you from making the same mistake.

[–]Sheepbjumpin 47 points48 points49 points 9 years ago (23 children) | Copy Link

I've seen tiny fuckers fight back too. The lesson here is "don't fuck with people who aren't fucking with you".

[–]LukeTheFisher 15 points16 points17 points 9 years ago* (22 children) | Copy Link

For real. I have a friend who doesn't look big at all but he's ripped to shit. You can't really tell beneath his clothing though. He really loves clubbing so people will try and start shit with him from time to time. I've seen him fuck up guys waaaay bigger than him. At one bar he frequents, he got into a fight with the bouncer once. They're friends now and he still goes there but the bouncer told me about how he got fucked and couldn't believe it. I looked at the bouncer and couldn't believe he lost to my friend in a fight, even though it was coming straight out of the bouncer's mouth.

Edit: also as a tip to big guys who've never been in a fight: don't underestimate the value of experience. A small guy who's been in a lot of streetfights or does mma can still fuck up a big guy who's done nothing but hit the weights for a bit.

[+]ODBPrimearch -6 points-5 points-4 points 9 years ago (21 children) | Copy Link

This could have only been written by a small guy. True I have seen small guys hold their own, but not against anyone with a trained background of any size. I've seen fatties with pepperoni nips whip on little shits with Napoleon complexes who wrestled and were youth Golden Glove champs. Don't get it twisted.

[–]LukeTheFisher 8 points9 points10 points 9 years ago (8 children) | Copy Link

I already covered the first part of your statement. Of course a smaller guy won't beat a bigger guy if the biggest guy has training or experience of any sorts. I was warning fatties with no fighting experience not to overestimate their size because if the smaller guy has training he could still fuck them up. I also highly highly doubt the second part of your statement unless those golden glove champs were drunk or the fat guys were trained themselves.

[–]ODBPrimearch -1 points0 points1 point 9 years ago* (7 children) | Copy Link

But you said your small ripped buddy beat on a big bouncer so I am unsure what you mean by "anyone with a trained background of any size". And yeah a kid on my high school football tean, real nice gentle giant kept getting harassed by this weird homoerotic tiny manlet in the locker room. After getting his ears boxed enough BFG just had enough I guess and hip tossed him. Big boy was unathletic as fuck, only made the team because he was massive and they thought they could put him at nose to plug the hole. There is a reason there is such a thing as weight classes in fighting. And that people that even go up a division or two usually get squashed. Literally

[–]LukeTheFisher 1 point2 points3 points 9 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

Nigga I'm not saying that smaller guys are stronger than bigger guys. That's a retarded statement to make. This whole discussion was about not underestimating people regardless of weight. A lot of times when the smaller guy wins, it's because the bigger guy thought he'd be a pushover. The anecdote about my friend was slightly off topic but your point about weight divisions again goes back to training. My point is: if you're a fat guy, and you aren't a fighter, don't underestimate a smaller guy and try if you end up in a fight with him. If he's a good enough fighter, your weight might not help you if you take the fight lightly or if you can't fight for shit. You sound like a pretty buttmad fatty who needs to prove he's better than every guy that doesn't weigh a ton.

[–]ODBPrimearch 1 point2 points3 points 9 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

angrily wipes doritos from keyboard and slams mountain dew code red to clear the rage I'm just accumulating mass and body positivitey at ANY size. No but really I can agree with what you said. I am trying to caution little mans's' from going out and doing the same over confident BS with big boyz. I have seen far more of the latter happen than big people picking on little ones. Little people already have it hard enough as is, no sense in rubbing it in.

[–]LukeTheFisher 1 point2 points3 points 9 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

True true. I wasn't trying to say: "big guize don't pick on little menz or you'll get le rekt." I was more trying to continue the theme of: don't start fights in general unless you know what you're getting into. Sorry for calling you a fatty, bro.

[–]ODBPrimearch 2 points3 points4 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

all good brudda

[–]stationhollow -1 points0 points1 point 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

His whole point is that weight is actually a significant factor and unless that little guy is extremely well trained and experienced, the weight difference is likely still going to go in favor of the bigger guy.

[–]grls_pm_ur_cute_feet 3 points4 points5 points 9 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

I think the general rule people go by is if they are bigger than you they could probably beat you in a fight. Some people don't go by that, but pretty sure anyone with a brain does. The best thing to do is just avoid the fight all together. Take a hit to your pride. Never know when the other person will pull a weapon.

as a small guy, yeah probably, but if you're quick with some training you can definitely catch some people off guard. no one at my gym was my size so I'm sooort of used to fighting people bigger than me already which helps I think (only 130 pounds smh) but I've fought people who were actually good and had 40 pounds on me and its just straight not close, dude just tossed me around, granted he was a blackbelt and played football at a division one school (no idea if he started or anything though)

[–]ODBPrimearch 0 points1 point2 points 9 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

i saw a video where a guy pulled the same move on another smaller dude in what looked like a restroom, only im pretty sure the kid who got slammed died because his head hit the ground. While this may be "justice" its hard not to think the person being thrown could be seriously injured or dead, which isnt comforting at all.

[–][deleted] 7 points8 points9 points 9 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link

Perhaps people should think twice before assaulting someone then, right?

[–]IDreamer 1 point2 points3 points 9 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

yes? i hope i didnt say something to suggest otherwise. If i did that was not my intention.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point2 points 9 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

I just wasn't sure why you said it. Men are typically raised to "not him women" so we are rather limited on how to react if physically assaulted by one. The holding them method doesn't work, the body slam seemed to work though, and he didn't hit her. Judge if you must, but if anyone hits me like that with a closed fist, my reflex (maybe bc I used to box) would be to immediately go for the KO.

[–]IDreamer 0 points1 point2 points 9 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

yea my point was not the retaliation or what is right or wrong, just that ive seen someone die from being body slammed the ground and your original comment had said something like it was comforting to watch and i was just saying through what ive seen with that suplex move being used. I personally found it uncomforting.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point2 points 9 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

it was comforting to watch and i was just saying through what ive seen with that suplex move being used. I personally found it uncomforting.

I totally get that. However, it was comforting to me to see a female thinking she could just attack a male with no consequences, then she got slammed, literally. Justice was served IMO. That being said, I don't wish permanent injuries on anyone, but it was her own fault rolling what she thought were loaded dice, they weren't.

[–]IDreamer 0 points1 point2 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

i think we agree on the same thing just have different reactions. I understand where you are coming from now.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point2 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

There was a video a few years back of a smaller guy swinging on a prison guard (who was noticeably bigger) in a crowded lunchroom. The bigger guy slammed the smaller one and his head slammed on the ground. He died a day or so later actually. The whole confrontation seemed avoidable, but on that day cooler heads did not prevail.

So a 200 pound man should take a hit from a 130 pound man because of size difference? That is basically your logic.

A person should be able to protect themselves from assault regardless of the gender of their attacker.

In this example we see the same thing.

[–]MustakaThinks breakfast food is gay sex 0 points1 point2 points 9 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link

In this case, I think the force he used was excessive.

You only argue this because the bully owns a vagina.

Whether you want to believe it or not, there are fundamental differences between men and women.

Says the whiteknight. Where is you defense for the skinny male bully. But you are right. Women comitting crime get sentanced by a fucking huge margin less than men.

some of the shit said in this sub is disgusting.

Why? Disgusting to who?

The video shows a female on male bully getting wrecked and you have a problem with that based on size difference and gender. I show you a male on male example and you have zero response.

If a women hits a man, the man hits her back. It's pretty much that simple.

Equality is that simple.

I think it's funny you guys ignore the fact the most of the world generally considers women physically weaker

Do you find it equally "funny" when a small guy picks on a bigger guy and gets flattened?

Almost every regulating body we have as far as sports or any competition is concerned sees women as physically weaker and would never allow a women to fight a man

Which I agree with, though your example is invalid as this was a "streetfight", not a sporting event with rules and regulations.

it's equality

Yep, you need to check your privilege. In this scenario she is an assailant engaged in a physical assault and is treated like one in an equal fashion to a man, her victim has the legal right to defend himself. It's quite simple to understand.

I get it. I don't agree with it, at all, but I get it.

Then you don't believe in equality, at least not "true" equality...stop being a shitlord.

What does being from Texas have to do with it? Are people from Texas morally superior than the rest of us? Is there less male on female domestic violence in Texas? Are women from Texas allowed to beat the shit out of men unchecked?

Sounds like confirmation bias to me. I'm from Canada and have never witnessed male on female violence, but I'm under no illusion that it is less prevalent in Canada than Australia. I'd also consider the subreddit you're commenting in.

I would bet my left arm that male on female violence is no less prevalent in Texas, on a per capita basis, than anywhere else in the world. In fact I wouldn't be surprised if it where more prevalent. Violent crimes, specifically male on female violent crimes like rape and domestic abuse are statistically higher in the American Bible belt than the rest of the country, and certainly Canada.

My instinct for anyone who hits me is fight back and not let them get another hit in. There is a thing called adrenaline, and mine kicks in as soon as I see a fist coming at me, and I just fight back.

What? Learn to read. I said if it was a man or woman at 130lbs I would punch them back. I am 260lbs. I said nothing about me being of equal size.

What has everything to do with it is someone hitting me first and me acting in self-defense. What is said person pulled a weapon after I just hit them back? You never know, people are crazy. If you throw them on the ground and knock the wind out of them it is much safer for the defender than just throwing a punch back. The initiated the fight with someone larger than them, not the larger person initiating the fight. Protecting yourself comes ahead of, oh it is a girl better not stop her from hitting me!

He also did not body slam her, he hit her back once then threw her on the ground, he did not jump on her. Jesus fucking christ. Ending the fight is the safest thing in self defense. You do not give them a chance to pull a weapon or hit you back.

Her fist seems balled up to me (it's not a slap), and she's actually hitting the side of his face and/or ear, which hurts like a motherfucker. While I understand your point of view, you trying to minimize what she's doing is helping noone.

You seem awfully fast to assume that I think exactly what he thinks. I came here from r/all and started reading the comments. I'm not one of the "guys" you're referring to. And yes, you are minimizing what she's doing by just misrepresenting it. Her being 100 lbs lighter has very little to do with the fact that she's not in fact "slapping" him, but is instead hitting the side of his head (ear?) with her fist.

You being mistaken or lying has very little to do with my opinion on what he's doing in this gif.

[–]brockkid[🍰] -1 points0 points1 point 9 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Equality would've been to smack her in the head or push her away forcefully. Maybe if he let her wail on him for a bit longer he could justify slamming her to the ground.

[–]grls_pm_ur_cute_feet 4 points5 points6 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Not really. Throwing her to the ground made her stop hitting him. He would have done the same thing to a guy 100%. If all you do is a measly slap or punch back they will most likely hit you again. Throwing her on the ground prevented things from escalating so she wouldn't hit him again.

Self defense is self defense. Throwing a woman on the ground is perfectly okay here. It was a reflex that would have happened if a guy punched her as well.

You do not fight fair when someone hits you, that is dumb. Why would you trade punch for punch when you can just subdue the attacker?

[–]MrLuthor 5 points6 points7 points 9 years ago (8 children) | Copy Link

Fight a child? No. Fight an adult? Yes.

Women are not children they are adults and should act accordingly.

This is the reason we tell children not to hit each other, because as adults we can seriously hurt another person and in doing so may cause that person to seriously hurt them in turn.

Now Im not endorsing the Chris Brown type of beatdown on women. I am simply stating that if an adult hits another adult, then you can expect that other adult to hit back. Seems fairly reasonable doesn't it?

Now if you think that because of your gender that you can freely beat upon another gender without consequence, then frankly you deserve whatever badness comes your way.

Lets see if I got this right.

Average Dude vs Woman = Pro fighter vs Average Dude

An interesting assumption but I'll run with it.

As a hypothetical lets say an average dude goes about yelling, screaming, and hitting a professional fighter/military warrior. Now theres two real options in this scenario. Option one your option he stands there and takes it because he's tough. Option two he lays a beatdown on average dude.

Now in the first scenario our deadliest warrior while being a trained professional is not allowed to fight back however, he is not some sort of super-hero. He is another human being and can and will be hurt if he chooses to do nothing. So average man smacks him around and beats on him while saying you cant fight me you are a professional and might hurt me. That doesnt make a lot of sense now does it?

Now in the second scenario we have the pro fighter returning average dudes aggression with a beatdown. Do we gasp in horror as average man gets pounded into the pavement? Or do we think that maybe he shouldnt have picked on pro fighter in the first place? As a Texan I am certain you are familiar with the saying "Mess with the bull and you get the horns" and thats exactly whats going on here.

[–]MrLuthor 4 points5 points6 points 9 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

Okay so a trained fighters appendages can be considered deadly weapons. What has that got to do with the price of fish? Is he no longer entitled to defend himself? I really dont think so and that is what you are implying. Also are you saying that men are considered to be deadly weapons if they hit a woman?

At this point Im fairly certain you are trolling me but either way I do no feel I will change your mind on this subject. So we will have to agree to disagree.

Indeed I would say he used sufficient force to stop her from attacking him. He did not continue to hit her as she was on the floor. I wouldnt call it excessive as that would be continuing to beat her after she was complacent. According to Chief of Police James Powers “The instant compliance is obtained, anything beyond that becomes excessive " found in this article. He also says that physical force is whats used to respond to physical force.

[–]HipHoboHarold 0 points1 point2 points 9 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

There are reasons there are laws that professional fighters or military trained warriors can not fight civilians

Actually, that's not true. Its something spread often, but professional fighters don't sign anything saying it's any more illegal for them to fight others. If military member does it, there's generally more that goes into it than the fact that they are trained.

But let's assume your logic holds up. If someone could beat me to a pulp, I'm not gonna hit them. Simple concept. But because I have a penis I have to follow this mindset, while someone with a vagina doesn't? What if the chick works out? There are female MMA fighters. Would it be cool for me to hit one and not expect to be hit back? I mean, they're strong, and I'm not really all the strong. It wouldn't hurt them. They should just walk it off, right?

[–]herminipper 1 point2 points3 points 9 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

He might have been able to subdue another way but you still have to remember that what he did was acting on adrenaline. It's also important for women to understand that people stronger than you often hit back. Most men seem to understand this quite clearly.

It was being assumed that she did not have good reason to hit him. I was asking why.

[–]HipHoboHarold 1 point2 points3 points 9 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

Because there's probably not one. He said something mean? Either say something back or walk away. They were dating and he cheated on her? Be the bigger person and leave. There's generally not much of a reason to elevate situations to violence. Would is blame her if she did based on the situation? No. But then can I blame him for retaliating when she makes it violent with violence? No.

[–]Miknarf -5 points-4 points-3 points 9 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Maybe he hit her first. You don't know you have absolutely no context. But you seem to really want to defend the guy who suplexes some one half his size. For what being slapped? Yeah but it's a woman, she probably had it coming. /s

[–]Zandrick 0 points1 point2 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

[–]MDev01 1 point2 points3 points 9 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

Nobody is saying that; they are talking about an equal response. If an adult male was to come up behind this guy and slap him upside the head, what would be the expected response? Well, she got the same.

I would be concerned about serious injury by doing a body slam like that but I really can't blame him for what he did.

Of course, we are talking only about what we see in a video lasting just a few seconds so there could be more to the story.

[–]Zandrick -5 points-4 points-3 points 9 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

I am nobody.

[–]MDev01 -1 points0 points1 point 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

[–]NeverBenCurious 0 points1 point2 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

She intended to do damage. She probably intended to do her maximum amount of damage. The big dude barely used half his strentgh. He looked like he could slam her ass like hammering a nail repeatedly. He neutralized a threat with minimal effort. She got really lucky. One punch from that gorilla would break her whole face for life. Glad this is on video. Dude still probably got more punishment than the chick.

[–]johndisko -1 points0 points1 point 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

She hit him from behind not giving him a chance to defend himself -- his move was equal in that aspect . Although a little overkill, it's fair enough imho.

[–]HipHoboHarold -1 points0 points1 point 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Then maybe she shouldn't hit him. I don't fight people who are bigger than me partially because they are bigger than me. It shouldn't matter that me and the other person are male. If you don't want to fight someone, don't start a fight.

[+][deleted] -6 points-5 points-4 points 9 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

From this short and potato gif, all I know is the dude was talking to someone even if he is angry and yelling, she comes in and assaults this guy. I am open minded tho. If he was doing something that grants her attacking in self defense of a friend, I'd like to know.

[–]HipHoboHarold 1 point2 points3 points 9 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

If he was yelling at or insulting her friend, she should keep it to that level. Yell back. She made it physical, so he responded.

[–]monkeyinadress -1 points0 points1 point 9 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

absolutely! women want equality. they keep wining about double standards. if you're a douche bag, like this bitch, then be prepared to take the consequences. just cuz you're a woman does not mean you have carte blanche to act however you like. I hope that stupid cunt broke a bone!

[–]triplehelix_ 0 points1 point2 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

you're missing my point. antagonizing someone is never valid justification for the other person to punch them in the face, regardless of the genders of either participant.

[–]ColeWeaver -3 points-2 points-1 points 9 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

Depends what's being said. I'm just suggesting a potential alternative, I'm not saying that's what's happening.

[–]triplehelix_ 0 points1 point2 points 9 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

so to be clear, under some circumstances (depending on what is said) you think it is justified for a man to punch a woman in the face.

could you give me one situation, or one example of something that could be said to justify that?

[–]ColeWeaver -1 points0 points1 point 9 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

She's pointing a gun at you. But isn't the point of this sub that if women want equality then they have to be ready to be punched in the face?

[–]triplehelix_ -1 points0 points1 point 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

pointing a gun isn't antagonizing someone. stay on topic.

But isn't the point of this sub that if women want equality then they have to be ready to be punched in the face?

considering the vast majority of the links on this sub don't involve women getting punched, i'm going to say you have an agenda and a predetermined bias that has no relation to verifiable reality.

i think the point of this sub is that women want equality, but they need to accept the good with the bad. equality means your actions get the same response regardless of your gender, be that your hard work and skill resulting in a promotion or be that you committing assault and battery and having that violence returned on you as the individual defends themselves.

equality doesn't mean a group gets to pick and choose where they are equal, only selecting the areas that they benefit.

sounds like you are confused.
