Why is intentionally filing a false report with police a misdemeanor? I think if you file a false report, the accusation you make should determine what level of crime you are charged with and the punishment you get for it. If you file a false report about your neighbor playing loud music, then sure, charge it as a misdemeanor, but if you accuse someone of rape or murder, those should be felony charges for filing a false report and carry the same penalties the accused would receive if they were convicted of those crimes. To me, that is the most infuriating part about these kinds of cases.

this same thing happened to a friend of mine recently. a woman got caught with hickeys after cheating on her husband at a wedding. my friend wasn't even the guy involved, but she pointed the finger at him, accusing him of assaulting her, and now he's been sweating for months crossing his fingers that his name doesn't get dragged through the mud - because of what he does for a living, just having those sort of allegations levied against him could potentially ruin his career.

First and foremost the "false rape charge" is not a thing. Just like racism against whites or sexism against CIS men. It does not exist. If you are not a womyn then what do you know about rape? What do you know about giving yourself to someone?

This particular case is a clear example of our justice system's bias and shortsighted view of rape. In this particular case, we see the issue of "post consent" as a factor. She did consent to the act under certain conditions, however, the conditions which her consent were predecated upon were not upheld. In this case he claimed he wanted to "date" her or be her "boyfriend" and upon getting what he wanted, he renegged upon the agreement. This is RAPE. We punish perjury, yet when it happens on an invididual level we BLAME THE VICTIM. It is absolutely disgusting and typical of a patricarhacal rape culture. A culture which "rape" is the single most appropriate means to describe the way CIS men interact, oppress, denigrate others.
