I have spent much of my life trying to be as independent as possible. I paid my own bills, didn't have children, always worked, always paid for the meals, etc. Now I am married, I have step kids, I've started learning to cook and clean properly. I still struggle with accepting these responsibilities and with generally accepting the femininity that I shunned for so long. I know my husband doesn't want just another person who works and pays the bills. He wants someone who will take care of him, his kids, his home. I still work 30 hours a week (cut back from my corporate job prior to getting married) and pay 2/3 of the bills, which is necessary the maintain our lifestyle. How do I find my worth and find true joy in serving him and my family when I still feel like I do an unfair share of the work? Am I just proving the point about the worthlessness of the "modern woman" with my perceived laziness and entitlement? Please help me find some better insight.
