I've lurked here for a while after getting frustrated with all of the gender equality being pushed down my throat on social media, so I wanted to share my RP moment with all of y'all.

I'm currently 28 years old in a happy LTR (that only had one hiccup when trying to keep things equal with a large income disparity). This date occurred a few months before I started dating my current girlfriend.

Back story: I was 25 years old working for a hedge fund in NYC (still am) seeing this girl, let's call her C, that was getting a BS liberal arts masters at NYU. I met C while she worked as a shop girl at the gym I went to. I ended up asking her to drinks after realizing that I could make her completely blush with a small comment and thought it would be an easy lay. I'm an attractive and extremely sociable guy, in great shape (was a lightweight rower and I'm still pretty psychotic about fitness), and most importantly- I was earning a fuck ton of money for my age. This girl was in no way special to me. I just wanted another girl to stroke my ego.

C was one of three girls I was consistently seeing at the time (in no way exclusive); she was the smartest of the three, so I did enjoy the fact that every once in a while I could tolerate actually hanging out with her. One of the girls was a person that would constantly text me the wrong version of your/ you're and there/their/they're, but she was the hottest of the three and had a tiny waist with a phenomenal ass. It was a pretty simple routine: I would see each one twice a week, never see one back to back nights, in rotation; I would get off of work around 9:30/10 pm; A, B, or C would meet me at my place for some adult fun and then sleep (I let them sleep there because of morning sex). Some nights I wouldn't see any of them for dinner or such due to pursuing another woman or hanging out with my friends, but I was seeing one of them 5 nights a week (I get it, during that time was was committing way too much time/ energy to sex, but that's another topic). This seemed to be agreeable for all; none of them knew that I was seeing anyone else.

Occasionally I would grab dinner near my place with whomever I was seeing that evening before heading to my apartment; it was always something casual and nothing more than "I have to eat after work so you might as well eat here with me". During that time I usually picked up the bill since I was usually calling the shots (time, location, type of food). I was always/ still am a firm believer in that the person that offers the date picks up the bill or at least it's split 50/50. Also, no one should accept a date that you can't afford to pay your half.

The dinner/ RP Moment: C texts me to see if I wanted to go anywhere in particular for NYC Restaurant Week (known for its cheap pre-fix menu and some of the best places in the city) because she was hoping to "go on a date for a change". I agree with this but was I was caught up in a busy day at the office and tell her to pick the spot and make a reservation at 9. She picks a somewhat pricey Japanese place (not sushi), but that's not a big deal because of restaurant week, so I tell her to go for it.

We get to dinner and all seems to go well. We are unimpressed with what the Restauant week menu had to offer, and we both agree that we are just going to order off the normal menu. At the time, I usually didn't spend more than $60 for a meal for two (because I'm a frugal fuck except for my suits and fitness expenses), but hey - we were already there and might as well enjoy ourselves. C starts making comments about how I don't work with any women (27-30 people in my office) because we are all sexist and not offering employment opportunities to women. I'm like "whoa, that's from no where, but let's move on". I explain how in the whole time I worked there (2.5 years at that point) we have only interviewed one woman because we hardly get any applicants sent our way from recruiters that are ALL WOMEN! I explain that women in finance will usually go an alternate route after investment banking depending how good she was with people (sales/ investor relations) or how attractive she was (marry rich). I also explain that most of them do not see the pay off in the stressful environment and long hours. This sets her off off on a 1.5 hour tirade about sexism and gender equality. I am literally being talked at for the rest of the "date".

So the bill comes and the waiter presents the check standing up the the receipt wallet. I let it stand there for at least 10 minutes while it is literally standing between us while she continues to lecture me on how the genders are not being treated equal in 2013. The waiter comes back three times to check if we have placed our cards in and is getting frustrated. I realized that at that moment, she had ZERO intention of paying for this meal. She wanted equality when it serves her, a cafeteria feminist if you will. I take my card out, check the bill ($175 or so) and make it a point to mention to her the price of the meal. I usually NEVER do this because I don't believe you should let anyone know the price of something you bought them, but do so to indicate she should want to put her share in. I put the receipt wallet on the table and waive off the waiter another two times as he tried to collect the bill. She continues talking at me for another 5 minutes without once acknowledging the bill sitting on the table- not even one of those bullshit fake reaches. The waiter comes back another time, and I snap the bill up, hand it to the waiter and tell C "Everything you said this evening was just made invalid". I explain to her that she could have paid her fair share but being equal in that way didn't serve her. She asked me out on that date so therefore couldn't pull "the guy should pay for dinner" BS. I walk out before she collected her things and haven't spoken to her since.

That night, I had decided that I wouldn't date a girl that defined herself as a feminist in any way. I am all for the equality of the sexes. Hell, my mother was the bread winner and was an engineer when women simply were not allowed in the profession. I've since then found a girl that understands that the sexes are different and contribute to the world in different ways. I pay for more in my relationship, but in turn my SO surrenders control.

Tl;dr- I went out with a cafeteria feminist that asked me out on a date to lecture me about gender equality but didn't want to pay her part of the bill. After that, I called her out on her bullshit and swallowed the Red Pill.
