the fact that an asian mother would have the selflessness and perspective to instill this kind of behavior into her son is beyond amazing. Don't ever take that woman for granted because what you have there in terms of asian upbringing and, upbringing in general, is a statistical anomaly. And don't be too hard on yourself for your childhood, because it really does take a village to raise a child. Your parents are your main contributors but there's so much influence that they can't control once you're outside your home.

I think my western education combined with eastern family value created in me enough dissonance to force me to read on philosophy and psychology to make up my own vision on the world. I am glad I got both education because I also saw the edge I had on men who hustle mindlessly when I went back to China for business.

really does take a village to raise a child
No it fucking doesn't. This is a copout statement made up by single mothers who constantly pat themselves on the back for nothing at all. Do you really think being a mother is the hardest job in the world?
[–]RedEyesBlueShades17 points18 points19 points 9 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
You don't understand what that means.
[–]MeatCurtainRod-2 points-1 points0 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
I know much more than you think. That is exactly why the whole "takes a village to raise a kid" is such utter foolishness. Parents nowadays are escaping responsibility and are forcing it upon the system around them. For example, teaching kids life skills is now more of a school's responsibility rather than the kid's parents. When was the last time your dad taught you any life skills? Did you learn this shit yourself? Ya figured.

I always wondered why most mothers would transmit BP education to their sons. It seems that protecting the feminine imperative is more important than helping their sons succeed in life. This is surprising since mothers usually will make their kid success their priority. Looks like yet another feminine duality.
Is there literature on the subject?
[–]Endorsed ContributorAuvergnat67 points68 points69 points 9 years ago* (2 children) | Copy Link
The FI is not some nebulous concept to be protected/fought like feminism's "the patriarchy". It's the feminine biological imperative, that is "get babies from attractive males and get all other males to provide to you".
That said, why most mothers do that? Because they are projecting. They want their sons to be nice with girls because they want men to be nice with them.
[–]trppr6 points7 points8 points 9 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
I think the FI is actually quite a nebulous concept.
If you think more academically about it, taking a biological activity and superimposing behaviour, as well as psychological dispositions is quite hard to prove and is very very far from scientific.
As a result, there could be a wide array of interpretations as to what the FI really is.
[–]Endorsed ContributorAuvergnat1 point2 points3 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Well that's what evolutionary psychology is all about. And like all psychology/sociology topics, you can debate whether it's science or not, and even if you are willing to admit it's "science" you still can't compare it to "hard science". We agree.
But the "Feminine Imperative" as coined by Rollo (and since then basically only used by him) I think designate their biological imperative as I described earlier. The day that word escapes his definition because it's absorbed in the red pill culture at large, it will probably lose that meaning and become some nebulous concept. Just like "patriarchy" did. I just hope it loses its meaning as late as possible, because there is indeed nothing more spurious than some sort of "cultural entity" that every "specialist" would agree "exist independently from the organisms". This is the sad state of social sciences.

I always wondered why most mothers would transmit BP education to their sons.
Because they're so invested in their narrative that they simply blind it out that such a behavior is a grade A pussy repellant.
I can't complain about my mother (especially when reading about how some of you guys had been burdened with complete psychopaths as parents), but the one thing she reliably did was infusing me with the idea that masculine behavior is offputting for women. Now it's not that she did prevent me from doing sports and lift and pursuing outdoor activities and whatever - she was nothing but supportive in that regard. No, what she did was constantly complaining about men. Whenever you saw guys on TV hitting on women, or guys being brazen and cocky, or guys treating women in a dismissive manner, or being sexist in any way etc., you could bet on her making some scathing remark how immature, stupid or just plain shitty that sort of behavior was.
Guess who developed the nagging feeling that he had to constantly apologize or justify himself when he was around women?
[–]BestSC8611 points12 points13 points 9 years ago* (0 children) | Copy Link
This....whole family of women\aunts did this for years..
Had a sad fuck of a father who was about as worthless a human as possible.
Only now, years later have I realized that despite all the years of TALK about how horrible he was, (and he was), my mother is still fixated on him and my aunts\consins still treat him nicely.
I wish that I had known back in my teen years to watch their actions not listen to their bitching about what they want....How did I get that reality so wrong? Despite abuse, serial cheating and a complete failure to provide a living for his family, my mother still thinks of nothing but him and he is treated better by aunts\consins that any beta acting men in the family. It would have eased me many years of pain to have understood that he gave them emotions which override every thing else.
I still struggle with it today.
It sucks.

this applies to all people but in the case of women, it comes down to two kinds of mentalities: the ones who accept how the world is, and the ones who are in deep denial. The ones who accept it usually work out, try to keep fit, and do what they can with what they have. The ones who deny reality eat whatever they want, don't give a shit about their looks and try convincing themselves and everyone around them that nothing's their fault

problem is women are getting fatter faster than the men are. Looking around my university, the fattest are always the women. I understand that there are more women in university than men, but even ratios of fit to fat are worse for women.

It's tragic as fuck too , this week alone I have seen so many fat women with gorgeous eyes, nice features , and I can't help but think " If you lost weight you'd be an absolute knockout" but in a society that tells them that their weight doesn't matter these women are being robbed of even experiencing their best in terms of being sexually viable / attractive. No one wins if this fat - acceptance train of thought continues we just keep lowering the fucking bar .
great point, I couldn't agree more!

In the late 70s, only about 1/8 adults were obese. That figure has tripled.
That's not taking into consideration the fact that the BMI metric underestimates obesity rates in populations, compared to body fat percentages. So the obesity rate is even higher.
Fats make me want to puke.

Most women would raise their sons into alphas if they knew what it really meant. Most women aren't aware of how they function themselves, they can only tell what they think they want, they don't know they'll be repulsed by this if it were to happen. Also they don't want to raise their sons into being sexually attracted to them.

They do it for the same reason that they give "just be yourself" dating advice: they believe it.
Most girls aren't sociopathic masterminds consciously perpetuating the feminine imperative - they don't think logically enough for that. Girls are passengers of their feelings.
[–]Returnofthemack317 points18 points19 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
it's important to realize that 'just being yourself' works for most girls, even if their personality and abilities are decidedly average. By lacking perspective, they may truly think this advice is universal.

I'd say it depends on the society as well. I know this sub focusses more on the effects of RP/BP in the US and the West as whole, but surprisingly the RP movement is strong in India too. We've been brought up as generations upon generations of BPed men, but due to the customs arranged marriage etc our elders had no problem in getting married and raising a family.
However, with the recent brand of Western Feminism coming to India, more and more women are getting corrupted with the cancer that is third wave feminism. Fake rape claims have shot through the roof even as the Western media has dubbed us a country of rapists and molesters, causing our rape and marital laws to be so tilted against us that even the accusation of rape can destroy men's lives for ever. All this while we're being brought up by mothers who haven't caught up to times and still believe that girls are the epitome of virtue and goddesses that need to be worshipped. Sadly, our fathers, for the most part, are not as involved in raising us as our mothers, and so we get an entire generation of aspiring "white" knights who think being a woman's bitch would be their only hope for getting laid.
Fortunately we're trying to RP ourselves. More and more men are realising that the propoganda they've been fed for years by their family and their society is just that: propoganda. We're helping each other to realise this. Maybe it's too late for us, but our younger siblings and sons will benefit from this.
[–]maniclurker-2 points-1 points0 points 9 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link
Your society is not becoming RP. RP isn't arranged child brides, and acid thrown into faces.
[–]andhakanoon3 points4 points5 points 9 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link
True. We have a long way to go compared to the West, which is why it is unfair to compare us to the West.
But yeah, at least our society doesn't call us misogynists for advocating men's rights.

Because most women are in denial about their natural hypergamy. Most mothers who teach their sons BP fantasy bullshit are really just trying to convince themselves that that's what they want. Intelligent, self-aware women realize their own nature and won't repress it or rationalize it away. Sounds like OP was lucky to be raised by one of these rare creatures.

I find this concept fascinating.
Women, mothers in particular, might be unaware of their own nature.
But as soon as there is an "outsider" female predator, it is like mothers perk up and filter the shit out of them.
It is a fascinating dynamic watching girls meet your mothers .
It is like your mother seeing shit right through them.

Is your father BP?
Our previous societies rewarded "high value" betas with high value women. Most women are still basing their worldview on the old model.
They see more examples of high value betas in THEIR parents generation than alphas. Its all that they know.
This usually only applies to western Europe/America though. You see eastern europe/MI/some asian immigrants with a differing mindset.

I'm here for a time now, and the one thing RP didn't managed to give a SOLID explanation is your question. Just look at how many answer you got, all of them are a bit different. We can't pin-point the actual issue.
I've read a study some time ago here. Mothers are much more "sensitive" / "suspicious" for a daughter-in-law's possible infidelity vs. a Son-In-Law.
The reasoning behind this, that if your D-I-L cheats on your son, she can easily cuck him. Which also means, that your son wont be able to carry over his genetics to the next generation. And his reproductive failure will be your failure too (as the parent).
So what's the point with this? I find it weird that you care about if your son's child really his, but still raise him as a Beta, dramatically reducing his reproductive chances.
Some people commented that, mothers have no idea how to raise a child to be a man. I agree that most women has no idea how to raise a masculine man. I'm ok with this explanation. But women - sure as hell - know how an attractive man looks like. So even they raised they son as a beta, they could encourage him to be more attractive.
If my nonexistent daughter would ask me 'how to be attractive?', can i give her a solid answer that will work? Yeah: "don't be fat, have at least a few hobbies (hopefully that makes your interesting)". A woman should be able to do the same thing for her son.
[–]aDrunkenWhaler0 points1 point2 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
On a visceral level, they can not let go of their nurture instincts. They want to keep being a mother and protect their son, and can't let go. In some primitive cultures there are rituals where boys have to pass some trials to be considered a man, and the mother cries as if they are loosing their son forever, as if he will die, and tries to prevent the ritual from happening (either for real or as part of the ritual).
Being an alpha also means more danger and more risks ahead, so raising him as a beta means more safety and a better chance of survival.
[–]AncientScrolls27 points28 points29 points 9 years ago (9 children) | Copy Link
Looks like you are kinda lucky to have a mom that tries her best to teach you how to become an alpha male. Most kids raised by single mom's(like me) had to learn everything on their own and not let our mothers turn me into a total feminized beta bux when i was a kid.
From what I've heard China is a really rough place to get chicks. The male population is way bigger and if you want to get laid there you have to be one of the best males possible. Your mom probably knows about this and is trying to bring her eastern knowledge to guarantee that you will be sucessful in the US.

He was gone before I woke up and came back after I was asleep, because we were poor as fuck. Eventually, he accumulated enough money to rent a small electronic store. Your father sounds a bit of a 'natural' to me - Think about it, your mum would never approve of some BP wimp from the sounds of it!
TRP is essentially about 'self improvement' with 'knowledge, skills and abilities' which help men to firstly "understand" (and then PU) women as the direct result of these 'improvements', be they physical or mental. All positive changes in your life are 'RP changes'
IMHO your dad tried hard and succeeded becoz of it! That's as RedPill as it gets ... especially considering where he 'started from'!
This is the basics of TRP's philosophy ... "Improve yourself,, No 'ifs, buts or maybes',, Just DO it, and if it works, keep doing it!
As you've noticed, TRP is full of information about "what works and why".
TRP is an ideology that involves lifelong practice. Sounds like you're mum gave you a 'head start' in RP thinking!

i'd say the majority of Tiger moms push their children but in harshly bluepill ways: don't go outside and play sports since you need to be practicing the violin/piano and studying math. If you can't be a successful doctor, there's no way you can find a wife for you to fully financially support. What op has is a woman who can think critically and not just regurgitate what asian culture says is best for their children.

There is a philosophy called stoicism.
It basically states that by relying on noble ideologies you are setting yourself up for disappointment. Once you follow these ideologies as rules and it fails on you, the failed expectation turns into frustration and anger.
But if you accept how the world truly is and your expectations are true, and you play by the rules, you can never be disappointed when things play out the way you know they would.
[–]wailei0 points1 point2 points 9 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
What are these Nobel ideologies ? Could you state some examples ?
[–]kinpsychosis0 points1 point2 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
It could be anything really, a couple examples could be:
Sex isn't important for a healthy relationship: yes it is, you need intimacy for a relationship.
If you go out of your way to be nice to a girl they will fall for you: not true, if you can't respect yourself don't expect others to respect you.
Altruistic behavior of selfless giving will solve all problems: not only would this have a negative impact on everyone and the economy, it's against human nature and if you do nice stuff expected nice stuff in return you are setting yourself up for disappointment

Travel soccer is too hard. He can play at recess.
There is a wonderful alternative school with drama wove into the curriculum so middle schoolers can find their voice
Sit still or Ill call a doctor for a scrip of amphetamines!!
Dont allow your kids to fall vicitm to allowing "the village" to raise them.
Step up, be a dominant man and make sure they are on the rails that you, the evil patriarch, laid down.
Mark my words, within a decade, this rant of mine would allow the courts to take my kids and possibly jail me for thought crime

I wish my parents would tell me those things.
My parents got divorced early, got raised by my toxic mother and sister, went into adulthood as a magnificent looser.
I wasn't really wanting to do effort in any way, but my mother was never pushing me while she should have.
I still made my way through women, but went into an LTR despite knowing perfectly that I was deeply polygamous and would instantly feel bored by one woman. Why? Because I thought I was an abnormal monster that should hide himself and act like nothing, because I thought the woman's way was the only way in life. Thanks to media, to my mother and to my sister...
I needed a fucking father to tell me that yes that's normal to want to fuck everything that moves, you're not a monster. Sadly father would tell me that every men are like that but they have to put their pulsions aside for LTRs.
I'm 30 and that's a bit too late, but at least I have shitload of valuable life lessons to tell to my son.

No, we do like nice guys. We don't like pussies. There's a huge difference. If I wanted a pussy, I'd be a lesbian. Don't be an asshole to women because that will backfire. Do stand up for yourself and have a pair of balls. You don't have to have the perfect body to be a desirable man. You just have to be a man.
You are right. I saw what she said as "don't go out of your way for people who haven't earn it" and I think that's what she meant too. I help those who I am happy to help if you see what I mean.
[–]blackoutlily0 points1 point2 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Well yeah, you shouldn't throw yourself at anyone who doesn't reciprocate. There are people that will happily use you up. That's people in general. You have to have respect for yourself first. Don't stop being a nice guy but do stand up for yourself.
[–]1Sir_Distic0 points1 point2 points 9 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link
What is your definition of nice guy?
[–]blackoutlily1 point2 points3 points 9 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link
A nice guy treats me as an equal partner and respects my opinion (and vice versa). He does little thoughtful things for me to let me know he's paying attention. If I dress up for him, he notices. He's there to hold me when I am having a shitty day and will stand up for me without even thinking. He'll open the door for me, be appreciative of the effort I put in (cooking a good dinner, putting on makeup, putting on sexy lingerie, etc - basically the things feminists will demean me for doing when I am perfectly happy in my role as wife and love being feminine). I am a strong woman as well and he does not ever try to hold me back from succeeding, in fact he is always encouraging me. I do the same for him. After we had our boys, he somehow got it into his head that he needed to give up being in a band and I pushed him back into it because I know how much he enjoys it. We push each other to be better people.
I don't ever feel like he's trying to manipulate me and I don't do that to him. The longer we've been together, the better we are at communicating. That's where I start to disagree with redpill mentality. Because if you look for an intelligent woman, you don't need to play silly mind games. You also have to be a man, because women don't like a pussy who will roll over or pine after us in a pathetic way. I want to be with a man who I know won't go home and slit his wrists if I shut him down, but rather stand up for himself with confidence. I don't think most men would enjoy a woman who is pathetic like that either.
Redpill mentality was born because of the excessive feminist movement and the emasculation of men everywhere. Somehow it became wrong for men to be men or women to be feminine. I will not apologize for wanting to be female and a wife. I will not allow some nutjob chick try to convince me that it is wrong to look nice for my husband or let him open the door for me.
My husband and I run a small business together and we share household duties as well as taking care of the boys. If one of us is sick or having a bad day, the other steps up.
Anyway, that's my two cents. I'm sure some feminist Nazi will accuse me of being a guy posting as a woman again.

Culture means a lot. If you are the child of immigrants or raised in the South or Midwest, you are more likely to have a mother who raises you to be a man and not a mangina.

This woman, your mother, was cunning enough to analyse how her own attraction works, she understood that she was completly disgusted by servile males that would do everything for her and actually took action by adjusting your education accordingly. All of this coming from some chinese shithole, this shows that humans can be really ressourceful sometimes. She didn't pressure you enough for you to understand her wisdom before 20 but at least it finally hit you now. Given that you don't choke like a dog you should enjoy the rest of your existence.

Damn,
My mom was a hardass, but at the very least, your mother had the good sense to teach you self respect and to stand up for yourself. I had no such parenting. Every time I had an ounceling of pride in myself, it would get shot down.

See this is why I say what I say #Asianwomen2020
As much disappointment as I have in modern female culture, I can safely say that my own mother was the best influence that I could have ever been exposed to developmentally. She knew the "game" of human nature and had a very strong instinctive drive to push me towards success- something she learned from her own father. I learned about Patriarchy in our bloodline from a living memory- sort of a conduit for behavioral imprintation that must have "clicked" with epigenetic markers in my brain.

I don't pretend I know what women want, but I know what I want and the boundaries I set are ironclad.
This alone redeemed your post.

One day, when she saw I bought condoms, she said, son you will never get laid if you stay like this.
Stay like what? , I read your post but can't seem to find the specific issue? was she addressing you taking shit from girls?
[–]TRPtruth0 points1 point2 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
I think we need to equivocate a bit here. Unhealthy wall smasher mothers will project and hold back their sons. Healthy mothers will tell their sons not to take shit from anyone, especially women out to satisfy their own greedy bullshit and emotional needs. Healthy mothers want their sons to be the alpha.
It's up to the son to decide which way to go. Will you tell the girl to fuck off when mom rings your bell, or will you force mom to step in and rip it up for you?

No mention of a father in your post. Sad.

I think men and women are equal, but not similar.
You need to qualify this statement. What do you mean by "equal"?
I think we are equal, because we both have the potential to grow even though we might take different paths. However, women are more likely to be exposed to validation which make it less likely for them to improve after their physical prime. Few women can make use of their beauty in their prime while still feeling the need to improve themselves as a person and build something that last longer than their youthful days. Such woman will push you to become better instead of slowly taming you and always working against you.
[–]TRP VanguardHumanSockPuppet0 points1 point2 points 9 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link
I think we are equal, because we both have the potential to grow even though we might take different paths.
This is a lot of empty hand-waiving.
When you say "equal", you are suggesting that there is measurable (or at least subjectively comparable) quality that men and women have which can be judged side by side.
"Potential" is not something that can be judged this way, because it is tied entirely to your imagination of "what is possible".
I technically have "the potential to become Pope". But saying that without further examination conveniently glosses over the real challenges I would have to overcome to actually become Pope - things like moving to Italy, joining the priesthood, working my way into the Vatican, getting in good with the other Cardinals, and one day seeing myself elected to the papacy through the conclave.
The rationalizations you're making now, I've seen them countless times before. You've been hurt by feminized culture, but not so much that you're willing to abandon it altogether. You still depend upon it to feel like a good person, to feel like you're connected with other people. You're trying desperately to reconcile Red Pill truths with the comforting platitudes of your indoctrination so that you can ease into it. And you are going to fail.
You're not yet ready to take the Red Pill.

Personally, I don't know if I was ready to take the Red Pill years ago. I had it shoved up my ass by a cheating wife.
HSP.. I am curious what you see in men who are ready to swallow the pill....?

Not prepping the pill with a sugar coating.

Exact opposite here. My single mom coddled the fuck out of us, but gave us zero education on money, responsibilities, successful relationships, etc. Not her intention, but she set us both up to fail. My sister lives off the state and the benevolence of stupid men and has no concept how to sustain herself, just like mom taught her through example. Fortunately I paid more attenton to the habits of my weekend dad, and got it somewhat together once I hit my thirties, experienced homelessness basically, and had to learn the hard way how to treat money. All the love and affection in the world can't prepare you for the reality of life. My dad took every chance he could to give me tools and skills. I wish he'd had more of a say.

I also have a great mother.
It is the greatest advantage any man can have, If I could chose between being born a Billionaire with a shitty and egocentric mom or poor but with a great virtuous mother, I would choose a great mother every time...

I remember her reply was ''Don't give me that shit when you don't accept who you can become''. One thing she always told me was to never take shit from anybody. That worked out fine with guys, but oh boy towards the end of highschool, I was pathetic with girls.
So how are you supposed to deal with a girls shit? Call her out on it or hold frame and act like the test couldn't phase you?
I don't really remember them being mean or anything. It is just that I would not be as assertive and always try to help them when they don't even ask, because I was thinking with my penis. What I think not taking shit from anybody means is to not compromise your values and who you are for anybody.
I guess what you refer as ''test' is teasing. If it is just out of place, then there is not much you need to say, except reward her lack of social awareness with your silence. Sometimes, I would ask them to repeat it, because maybe they might have said it impulsively. It happens to everybody, guys say stupid shit around girls all the time too. I know because I did that. Most of the time, girls would apologies. If her comment is funny, laugh. If you could give me more specific examples, then maybe I could answer you better.

I had a project to do at school with this chick, she was in the process of moving apartments & didnt have much help or anything. As the deadline was approaching for the project in Math class she kept saying she was still having to move all her stuff and how hard it was etc. When it had been long enough I just came over with my brothers truck and we moved all her shit in 2 trips (few miles), so we could start the project. Didnt like having to do that favor but didnt see a choice tbh. If I did the whole project myself I would not have lied and said she helped & wanted to avoid that situation.
Shortly thereafter she began dropping off electronically, ignoring a non-logistical text I sent & taking hours to reply on everything else, ceased watching my stories on social media. I kinda feel like its because I made myself over available.
I know shes doing this shit on purpose because back when she was all over me she brought up to me several times about how someone else was ignoring a text of hers, or taking to long and how its one of her biggest pet peeves. Ive been playing it cool acting like I don't care, but Im wondering if that is the best route or if I should say something. (Id say something if it was a homie doing this)
If she is talking to you about how someone else is ignoring her, she is probably ''all over you'' just to fill the attention she needs. If she was really all over you, talking wouldn't be what she was doing with her mouth. Just tell the teacher the chick isn't doing shit and ask to have a reduced workload for working alone.
[–]Questionnaire70 points1 point2 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
she is probably ''all over you'' just to fill the attention she needs.
Thats a real possibility. And since she talks to a dude or two long distance (thousands of miles) its really hard to compete with a persons mental image of someone they've never met. All those blanks are filled in positively for her. With how she acts Im seriously starting to believe shes a virgin & a tease.

wow... man that's soo cool. all my mother did was berate me for 23 years of my life. thank fuck she moved away a few years ago.
I greatly appreciate your mother. She is amazing and wonderful. She beats the shot out of you and has prepared you for the world. Now beware and don't slide back. You never talk of your father. Any thoughts ? I assume he was a Alpha who valued principles and taught it to your mother.
Some say " behind every successful man there is a woman." And I strongly believe the woman they are talking of is such mothers and not your wife.

People are fucking shallow. If you show weakness to the wrong person, you get screwed over.
Biggest problem I see with all this Red Pill Theory is that it is strategy to deal with this single statement, with one addition - people are generally shallow AND immature.
Do you think our culture will grow up and learn? Do you want it to? Yes I get that TRP is great for getting people laid, and giving them control, but it only works when the paradigm is that people are shallow and immature.
I think if more individuals were concerned with actually raising the status quo instead of just navigating it, we would be working towards a better future instead of just spinning the hamster wheel better and better.

Still some solid blue pill thinking there. Congrats on getting jacked physically.
Women already know the truth that you deny: women and men are not equal. Women want a man who will lead them and dominate them. It's not complicated at all.
[–]SexistFlyingPig0 points1 point2 points 9 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
I'm going to disagree with you.
1) Men are stronger than women. About 2 standard deviations stronger. An average man is as strong as all but the top 2% of women. A top 2% man is stronger than all women.
2) Men make better leaders than women. Look at successful boardrooms across the country. It's all men. There's a reason for this. If women were better at it, there would be more women than men.
Tell me how women are equal to men.
