The reason you are seeing exceptions is because of sampling bias.

Keep in mind that those women are still hypergamous, they're just more rational about it -- instead of the guy who makes them feel "butterflies", it's the 6'2 handsome guy attending HBS with an elite pedigree and lots of connections. The reason "game" doesn't work on them is because it's a lot harder to bullshit the kind of status they're expecting from a mate.

Yeah I'll agree with the idea.

Upper Middle Class women are less easily fooled by their "tingles".

They are brutally rational about acquiring resources and will seek the highest SMV male they can get.

This type of woman doesn't bang the "bad boy" loser types. (lacking wealth)

Remember the 20/80 rule. These women don't just fantasize about getting the 20% they ACTUALLY can get the 20%.

This might be called the "Alpha Female" class.

...but because of Feminism this class has expanded dramatically so there is a supply and demand problem. There are double or triple the number of "Alpha Females" to "Alpha Males" so many are going to be left out and end up in a "Sex in the City" lifestyle in the end.

You need to follow these women over a few decades to see it play out.

I knew a beautiful young Feminist (met her at 25) that was everything thought of as an "Alpha Female" and she had many great offers of high SMV males presented to her, but she never settled. In the end she turned 50 years old and suddenly became obsessed with wanting children. You would be surprised at how these women can go from amazing to pathetic over the course of their life.

I study in engineering. There are girls and they are just as shitty for LTRs as the rest of any other western women. Hell, I even dated one. Don't get yourself fooled by that whole "she's more intelligent therefore less slutty/entitled/low value" image they are trying very hard to project. They're just smarter in hiding it (for example not posting (too much) on Facebook while at the club and being very prude to their beta orbiters) and have more resources for doing so (e.g. "travels").

I disagree. I've seen my share of intellectual women and have been friends with them. What I have found is all women have a trigger. The intellectual ones are sometimes darker and more well hidden. But there is a trigger. All women have some type of fantasy in their minds. If that right fantasy approaches then then they will cave. Their emotions take over. I've seen some of the most intelligent women suddenly lose all rationality because all of a sudden some 50 Shades of Greg character shows up or tall dark and handsome or a guy with money. They may act one way but in the end they gave triggers.

Preliminary

We do not all share the same interpretations of RP theory, nor do we all direct RP theory toward the same ends. For example, many posters here (including endorsed or popular posters) are unintelligent and have absolutely no idea what they’re talking about, despite tremendous confidence and condescending attitudes; however, they still have insights to offer (for example, GayLubeOil and IllumitableMan are poor writers and lazy thinkers, but some of their posts are insightful).

AWALT is a logical fallacy, but a practical assumption

AWALT (All Women Are Like That) is a practical guideline which continually forces me to be skeptical of women. When I feel myself falling for someone, I recall the mind- and heart-shattering experiences I (as well as people I know or know of) have had in the past, and force myself to consider AWALT—i.e., assess the woman more skeptically. Is she really that much different from those women who have wronged me or others in the past or those women who I or others have been fucking and chucking?

From a philosophical perspective, AWALT is of course a logical fallacy: It assumes that what is true of the part is true of the whole. So, yes, it’s a completely untenable philosophical position. But from a practical perspective, it is in a man’s best interest to hold AWALT as the null hypothesis and to only let his guard down or believe a woman is “different” (to address the OP, able of recognizing irrational emotional behaviour and “correcting”) when there is proof beyond a reasonable doubt that she holds such a capacity.

Is it education or something else?

It may be true that more well-educated women are less likely to cheat or succumb to their emotions (i.e. act irrationally, where an irrational act is one that reduces one’s long-term utility); however, I am highly educated by anyone’s standard and I can tell you first-hand that countless highly educated women act irrationally...so...don't let your guard down.

Furthermore, if it is true that some highly educated women are capable of “correcting,” we’re still not that much closer to the truth: Is it the education or something correlated with education that is to thank? For example, well-educated individuals are more likely to come from stable homes where values such as hard work and perseverance are encouraged. So is it the stable home or the education? Moreover, those with more innate ability (IQ being a proxy) are more likely to pursue more education. Is it thus innate ability that men should be after in mates? These are just some correlated variables: personal wealth, family wealth, place of birth, etc., being others.

One might object that it doesn't matter: "Hey, so what if those things are correlated--as long as she's capable of 'correcting.'" The problem I have is that highly educated women often come from a place of privilege and entitlement, which are highly correlated with cheating and other undesirable behaviour. There is probably a point of decreasing returns to scale or even losses with respect to her education level (from the perspective of a male seeking a partner).

Women are women. Women with superior upbringing will have learned behaviours which give them strong impulse control and allow them to foresee situations which could cause them to be adulterous and thus avoid said situations. This is more a matter of breeding than it is intellect, although for the sake of pedanticism I suppose one could argue increased self-awareness = higher intelligence and therefore it is the intelligence responsible for the gains made here. Realise a 90 IQ women with this knowledge and strong impulse control would harbour similar traits, she doesn't need to be a rocket scientist, it's something easily taught/bred into a woman from her teenage years.

Unfortunately increased self-awareness only makes a woman more desirable as a long-term partner, it does not make her immune to all the weaknesses that "less intelligent" or women with inferior upbringing possess. As I said, women are women. I would go so far to say these women don't even fall under NAWALT. Better upbringing so a better chance at a relationship, but realize as soon as her emotions overwhelm her she will shut off the logic by choice. These women do not keep on top of their emotions at all times, they're not quite the Zen masters you frame them to be. You still have to be the rock in her emotional storm, even if her emotional storms are lower tier tropical storms rather than full-blown hurricanes.

I have had a similar experience with a few women, but I also study at an Ivy League school. I don't feel that there are enough counterexamples in the entire female population to reject the generalizations, such as hypergamy, associated with AWALT.

That said, intelligent women does not have to mean engineers. It can be scientists, mathematicians, musicians, etc. I'd probably avoid leftist majors for LTR but heck I can't say I've tried it.

The women I met in engineering school were just nine miles of bad road. They are psychologically f'ed up because engineering is an essentially male activity; they may tend to be wired wrong. Realize that there's a whole world filled with other women, you don't have to date female engineering students.

I attended a number one ranked LAC and can say I saw some glaring examples of AWALT. Even the girl I dated during my beta days (my whole time there) dumped the hell out of me the moment I showed my vulnerable side to her. She, and all of her friends had crushes on me and would straight up ask my why everyone liked me (some straight-up told me it was because I was so handsome). She told me she had daddy issues and even gave me some real obvious signs -- now at least -- she wanted to hook up with me; things like she wanted to jump in my lap when I slapped my knees while sitting next to her in her common room because it reminded her of when her dad would do it. She really admired me and I ruined everything by being so damn beta. Otherwise, she was a pretty feelsy kind of girl who somehow did super-well in Computer science and Physics of all subjects.

Better or worse LTR? I met two LTRs in Mensa (high IQ society for those unaware) before my engineering school.

Before long, the first became VERY outspoken, probably because she was aware of her intellectual superiority to the general populace. When the new car scent wore off, she got more and more challenging (which I would come to understand years later as shit tests). I mostly passed them, but in the end, jesus, I just didn't want to have to fight out in the real world, and continue to fight once I got home. I dumped and evicted her.

There's a girl I still talk to who's extremely intelligent. Degree in math and applied physics from UCLA. Hell, she was a paid tutor at school and she helped me figure out EM Physics, Calculus, Differential Equations and Linear Algebra. She's VERY rational. We chat about male/female dynamics often and when I tell her the latest dumb emo shit to come out of a female mouth, she says that doesn't make sense. I remind her that she's pretty rational for a chick. Would I ever consider banging her? Hell no. She's just as confrontational as the LTR I just mentioned. It's easy to pass a shit test with a chick that you don't want to bang. I have no fear telling this girl she's totally wrong and to fuck off. With a chick you DO want to bang, you get a little worried that if you tell her she's wrong, she'll walk.

The second Mensa girl wasn't as confrontational. Fewer shit tests. But she was more emo. Emo shit tests are harder for me to pass. In the end, I spent too much time on schoolwork to satisfy her attention needs. Her hamster kicked in, and I'm guessing it convinced her that she wasn't getting my attention because I'm not interested in her or some such bullshit.

TLDR; AWALT. All women shit test. I'm guessing the smart girls' shit tests are just more difficult to spot and overcome. More crafty.

Uh, no. If AWALT is a broad generalization, its precisely because we're looking at women from a generalized (overall) perspective. Yes, some women are more rational than others, and yes, women are different from each other. But every women shares characteristics from the pool of "female traits".

You can have the smartest most rational female ever, and have a hard time getting her to understand market economics, or say, unintended consequences of actions. How many smart girls have I seen spouting ideas like "Guns kill people. Therefore ban guns. No one dies". That's logic isn't it? But, no, bans don't make something disappear, it can't even make murder (or drugs) disappear and that's banned too. Women have rationality, but is never deep enough. Even when they're rational, its often resting on emotions rather than pure objectivity.

Intelligence does not equal emotional control. Anyone can be gamed and often times the more intelligent are easier because they aren't exposed to seduction tactics very often. They are also elitist so low class players that approach them don't have the academic background to game them. They will only fall prey to college educated players.

You're also misunderstanding AWALT in a big way. All Women Are Like That does not say women can't fight against their natures. There are some marriages that last and have women that control themselves or set themselves up for control with a strong male and limited access to temptation. AWALT is just a warning. All women have the capacity to branch swing for more resources. The same way men have the capacity to cheat with a younger more attractive female. AWALT is about capacity, degree and self perception. Some women have a higher likelihood of branch swinging. It normally comes from high sexual partner count, poor parenting, feminist rhetoric to marry and have kids later in life. Do well raised highly educated females have less of a degree of branch swinging? Maybe; but I even that's true and it's not easily provable.

There is an old school idea that women should use college to find an MRS. degree. Attach yourself to a man with high potential and ride that wave to the money. This strategy has been successful for many upper class women not because they mysteriously got more intelligent and grew a capacity to control their emotions but because they ignored the feminist endorsed alpha fuck beta bucks strategy and actually used their youth to pull down the highest status man they were capable of. This strategy is now shunned by modern feminists and academics and as a result we are seeing fewer college marriages. Instead these college guys now have a monogamous college girl friend then drop her when the money starts rolling in after college. This is known as the 'college marriage.'

Your upper class academic bubble is not unique. For starters many high level academic women started their academic careers as young unattractive women. With no men tempting them to fuck or marry them they went into academics. Show me a high level academic female that, didn't have a previous career, that's attractive. She doesn't exist.

You also have a sampling bias because you're at one college with one set of women. AWALT is a generalization. Lastly you have a sampling error. Do you personally know the entire sexual history of all these academic unicorns you're talking too? I doubt it. Women don't advertise their sexual strategies to the world. They either already went through a string of alpha pump and dumps or their perceived SMV is so low they don't see themselves and sexual beings or their lying to you. You would not believe the quantity of average looking intelligent girls I chatted with in class who acted in control of their sexuality and emotions. Yet they paraded in and out of my college baseball players room 7 nights a week. The medium is the message, women communicate the truth with their actions

What I find to be the most common phenomena of the modern college female is this weird mixture of elitism yet a relatively perceived low SMV. They know a lower class women with 9 or 10 looks can pull down the athlete or pre law major they have their eye on. It creates a huge insecurity complex. On top of it, growing up they consumed too much bullshit media and fell victim to bullshit highschool politics and don't see themselves as very attractive. They might come from conservative families so they are not out looking for men at bars 5 nights a week so they have near zero exposure to game or validation. But they will eventually come across a guy that plays the right game with them and they will give it up just as easy as any other girl. Many of these types of women get fucked by professors and other academics or any high value man that can penetrate walls of the academic world. The academic world is not immune to core RP mechanisms. Elite wealthy families are not immune to RP mechanisms.

In high school, every class saw a minimum of 50% of the valedictorians be female. Usually ~70% of the Academic Top 10 consisted of females. I know for a fact that of the four kids who scored 30+ on the ACT in our class, 3 were male, and 2 of us did not make the top 10 (myself included). In my experience, I cannot remember a fellow male high schooler that truly put forth academic effort on a consistent basis, at least commensurate with the females. We all took AP classes and Math/Science electives, but none of us cared enough to put in the extra work. If I can score a 5 (of 5) on the AP Calc BC test with a B in the class due to neglecting homework, who cares? I still scored a 5 on the AP test.

I spoke with the valedictorian of the class beneath us, and she said it was not uncommon for her to spend 8+ hours on homework. Per night. I spent 8 hours on homework over the course of an entire month, if that. She told me she always admired me for this ability.

For whatever reason, girls just seem to care more about their academics in high school. Most of the intelligent guys I know put forth the minimum effort required to achieve what is necessary, recognizing the diminishing returns of excessive studying in one area. If I can solve ten second-order differential equations successfully, why solve 50?

I'm still learning TRP, so I won't deign to make any conclusions, but I have observed this behavior quite often.

Men are largely "like that" as well, in that we are out to satisfy an imperative and employ our own sexual strategy. I have a sister who is quite intelligent, she's constantly bothered by how Air-headed her friends are, and how they seem to have no self-awareness.

She herself has quite a bit of self-awareness. I wouldn't put her outside AWALT, she is young and still prone to hamstering her own behavior and motives, but she does show me that there are women who are capable of differing degrees of self-awareness.

Or perhaps it proves the point that women are Machiavellian enough not to show their self-awareness to people who they aren't very close to. Input?

It should be noted that men outnumber women 2:1 at IQ ranges above 130 or so, and the ratio grows even more at the extreme ranges.

Given that high IQ women will want even higher IQ men, and the fact that men outnumber them greatly at extreme intelligence levels, I would actually expect more hypergamy, not less.
