Advice (and any statement) is a lot more effective when you say what your advice is rather than what it is not. There is a whole world of possibilities, potentially good, but also potentially catastrophic, outside of "don't do that".
Regardless of what I think regarding the tone of this post, my advice is to not post it negative terms... I mean, my advice is to be concrete and positive in your advice!

I get what OP is trying to say and at it's heart I agree but there's a HUGE caveat.

If you haven't determined that you can make them feel ANYTHING it's likely they won't agree to or show up on a date.

OP is suggesting this to try and make them feel mystery but it's very likely that they'll just feel like you're cold.

That being said there comes a clear time where you need to get off the phone and meet in person, and it's much sooner than most people think.

These are the guidelines. Not a script. Find your own way that's true to who you are, but the essence of these remains the same. Everyone I've met does this wrong usually. IF you do it right almost no one will flake on you. Promise.

IF APPROACHING IN REAL LIFE:

Talk with the person for 5 minutes max. If you see an indicator of attraction or high receptivity (touch, high eye contact, touching hair, smiling /laughing, feet and body turned towards you) to your presence get her number. Not her snap or her instagram. Don't be a baby.

If you don't see obvious indications of interest, maybe still try to get her number and see how she responds. I have met one or two women who were incredibly difficult to read; their body language was just not there even though they WERE interested. They're rare but they do exist. One of them is actually my girlfriend now. Anyway, If you ask for their number it's pretty obvious whether they're into you or not.

2a. If they aren't into you, they won't give you their number, easy enough, don't push them for it. Genuinely wish them well, say nice to meet you, and move on.

2b. If they give you indicators and give you their number, say something along the lines of "Nice talking with you/meeting you, I'll give you a call sometime" now bounce. If they don't know your name at this point. Tell them, "Nice talking with you (their name), my name is X, I'll give you a call sometime.

Call them when you feel like it, I'd say wait a day at least but use your judgement.

VERY IMPORTANT: Before you call, have a date in mind (location, activity, time, day and maybe one backup date.

They pick up. Say "hello name this is (name)." ...Now Pay attention. Listen. This is the first indicator on whether they give a shit about you at all. If they don't remember you in most cases it's best to say sorry wrong number and move on. Seriously. Not worth your time.

But if they're like. "Oh Hey Name! how are you?" then Talk for 5-10 minutes max and listen to their tone. Ask maybe 3 questions. See if they are eager to talk to you. If they seem kind of eager, wait for about 5 minutes of talking and say something along the lines of:

"Hey this is fun, but I think seeing you in person would be better Meet me at X at X time on X."

VERY IMPORTANT: Don't ask for the date. Tell them with confidence. It's best if there is a healthy amount of mystery too. Anything can be a bit mysterious:

Getting Ramen together can be ("Hey I'd like to make you a member of my secret best-food-ever-club, but I don't know if I can trust you yet, meet me at X location near food spot at x time and place.)

Sounds kinda cheesy and cringe I know, but it's important to not throw all your cards on the table and it's often way better than "Would you want to get Ramen with me sometime?" Trust me.

The biggest reason why people flake on dates is that they know entirely how the date will go and feel before they're even there. And they know it will feel boring.

They will either say, Yeah. or no, If they say no and don't offer up another time option. They're not really sold on you. It's okay. back off. Give it one day and call them again. If they don't answer or are cold. move on. If they say sure or have a different time. Set it up. Before you go say, "Hey, I've got some things to wrap up before then but I'll see you at X at X time. Nice talking with you."

Then go on the date and meet them.

If you do this right people won't flake on dates. Seriously I'm a pretty average guy and I never had ANYONE cancel on me or flake. 100% success rate. Although I ALWAYS made sure that the odds were in my favor. I always looked for solid indicators of interest, and I set up dates so that if they flake it will make them wonder what could have happened if they had gone on the date.

Last Important Thing: Always be prepared to walk away if they have low interest. ALWAYS. Your goal is not to get everyone to like you. Fuck that. They won't. Your goal is to sort through people you're interested in and find those who are genuinely interested in you. That's the secret to dating.
