Keep improving yourself and approaching women. You can't do anything else.
23M here , exact same issues with me.

improving myself?
[–]Specialist_Heat6001 27 points28 points29 points 3 years ago (18 children) | Copy Link
Yup Looks, social skills , career everything. And being numb to any rejection.
[–]MayhemReignsTV 22 points23 points24 points 3 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
Being numb is never good. It should be more realizing it’s not a reflection on you. Might not even be one on them. Everybody has a preference. You don’t have to change who you are. Just become a better version of yourself. One that you can be proud of. Others will be able to see that. And if you don’t come off as creepy and they are rude, then it is a reflection on them, not you.

There was a post here about improving fashion. Maybe you could search for it. Going numb to it maybe, I haven't gotten to that point yet .

Look up how to do it then? Or use this sub? You're not listening to any advice on here so why are you here asking for some
i didn't know it was on this sub. why am i getting people being dicks for asking follow up questions?
[–]ZoeticLark 1 point2 points3 points 3 years ago (7 children) | Copy Link
It will hurt, thats part of being human... but the hope may he that it would hurt less when you are also investing in finding yourself. Love is really hard these days. It has changed and people are so judgemental and give up easily... i dont know what to do, but be good to yourself.

thank you for being a decent person and believing in me. not sure why people downvoted me asking a legit question so much, no idea what i did wrong there

Its because most of them are young here and think life is a black and white binary. It isnt. Life is full of nuance and exceptions to the rules. The older you get, the more you realize that. Just remember the audience participation here is majority in the early 20s range. Reactionary, convinced they know better than anyone who dares question things like "going numb" being a good thing. Besides that could mean different things to different people based on their life experiences... though i dont recommend numbness, i do think some distance is important to keep with certain things, so it hurts less. Some of us are just more able to feel things than others, it doesnt mean it is wrong, there will just be different ways of coping with it. Hopefully emotionally healthy ways -not buying a 6pk- another stupid upvote/downvote brain twister in this thread...lol. remember these are mostly 20yr olds who already figured life out before having lived it.
Be patient with yourself and trust your gut, there is no right or wrong answer, just what works or doesnt work for you.
For me, when i start to feel crappy about dating, i stop. Go do something else for a few weeks or a few months, get myself back to a good head space. Then, maybe ill go on a date or two and back away again. I stop myself before i start feeling really bad and get out at the first sign of being done with it so i dont implode anymore with the pressure and chaos of it. Over time, ive learned to just treat it as a sort of entertainment. As soon as it starts to feel ick or i get a bad date (which is often), i turn it off and move on to other fun things. Its not about being numb, it is about recognizing my feelings, listening and taking action to ensure i hold to my boundaries and dont push past them unnecessarily.
[–]ZoeticLark 1 point2 points3 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Most of the people i dated long term, werent found on dating sites. The dating sites just give me an opportunity to practice my social skills in between relationships, up until the point i actually meet someone i really like. Thats how i try to see o.l.d. as social practice and to witness what i dont want, in person. Helps me calibrate so im not totally rusty when i meet someone really cool.
[–]elementalheroshadow 0 points1 point2 points 3 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link
explains a lot lol. but the sticking point for me on this part of your advice is: actually GETTING the dates/dating. i have been on maybe 4-5 things that could be stretched into being called dates in the past 8ish years, i'm unsure how people just get dates THAT easily you know? never have i approached a girl, asked if she wanted to hang out/go out sometime, and had them say yes as anything other than a friend.
[–]ZoeticLark 1 point2 points3 points 3 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link
I know alot of people get down on being friends with women, but i dont think theres anything wrong with it and in fact it would just give you exposure to how women think and what they want. Like even observing who she is into, if you can detach from outcomes enough, i feel one could learn alot...
Anyway, back in the day, women had handkerchiefs and so they were able to give a gentleman a cue that they were open to talking. These days, well etiquette is all but out the window, i think you could get a girls attention by doing something that doesnt take much away from you but shows them signals of caretaking, opening a door for a lady is one example. Its no skin off your nose to do it and it signals an ability to consider others. Its costs you nothing (unless youre abl baby man and feel women need to earn such caring "free" gestures - then god help you!!)
If you do something like that, say helping with a chair or some other help, dont make a fuss about it, give only what you can give freely and let go of after doing it. In the beginning. This is to establish there is reciprocity. O ly when you see reciprocity should you move toward further things like dating and exclusivity. Give a little get a little.
These subtle things matter and convey a level of protection and providing from the outset, that again, wont cost the full meal, just some thought outside of the self... on a primal level woman want to know they will be protected, thats why some go for assholes, bc no one will fuck with an asshole. You dont have to be an asshole, you just have to convey an ounce of spine and that you can direct a situation to a safe conclusion when necessary. Thereby creating a "container" for her to be safe in.
See "containment in relationships" by teal swan.
Also, "what every man should know about women" And "what every woman should know about men"
All on youtube

You’re not a bother. Also please understand it’s not too late and taking your life is not the answer! Here are tips to get started and on to your poon slaying days!
1) start dressing nice. This could be any style, just emulate what gets a good positive feedback from women. Browse Pinterest for ideas
2) establish a healthy workout routine. This will build your body and also your self confidence
3) start by talking to anybody you meet and gradually shift to women in day to day enocounters! These little social interactions will compound over time
4) find a perfume that makes you confident and feel good
5) Always try to talk to multiple girls at the same time to kill the possible neediness that comes with texting just one
[–]Evil_god7 7 points8 points9 points 3 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
I can vouch for this guy's advice OP. I intentionally or unintentionally did the same things as above ,even lesser versions of these advice .like
Using solid colors for dressing .
Just doing 20 pushups consistently (keyword is consistent, may not be daily,i am super skinny like 50.kg 5'6" ).not even going to gym.
Starting talking to almost everyone in my class and other class (i am in university, people of same age ).and talking to random strangers who i come across.
i use antiperspirant,so that when i sweat i don't get super concious about it.
I made some female friends, and talk to as many girls i can given the chance (which was super difficult for me,coz i was(am) an introvert and super shy.)
These all things unconsciously changed how I felt about myself ,i got more confident, could be myself(i am still not there yet,but i can see exponential progress compared to last year ). These things made me love the whole self improvement journey thing ,i think i won't stop it until i die .
So yeah.
thank you

Forget all of the advice you're getting here about reading dumb books and instead think about why you feel you're worthless and unlovable, and start there. You're clearly not happy with yourself and that's the first thing that should come first: your happiness.

[–]ShortStuffV2[🍰] 5 points6 points7 points 3 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
I guess he means, have a focus in addition to it. Have some goals outside of just trying to get in women's pants. Otherwise you're going to be miserable all of the time.
But yeah no substitute for approaching and practicing. It is a grind and you do have to keep on it and recording what happened and bouncing it off the guys, the advice to "just focus on yourself and they will come" is bullshit if your social foundation sucks
i do have other goals, this is just the biggest one i'm afraid of never accomplishing
[–]montanalombardy 11 points12 points13 points 3 years ago (11 children) | Copy Link
Online dating sucks unless you look like a male model
Girls won't flirt with you. They won't approach you.
This is just the way it is for 90% of men.
So what you have to do is socialize, meet new people, approach women and flirt with them.

Idk where you live but public transport, taxis and uber are all options.
[–]elementalheroshadow 0 points1 point2 points 3 years ago (8 children) | Copy Link
there isn't any public transport near me unfortunately (live in the suburbs in the middle of nowhere) and uber is a ripoff tbh, the one time i tried looking it up out of curiosity it was like 90 bucks to go somewhere 20mins from my house. that's like a quarter of my pay, hell no lmao

live in the suburbs in the middle of nowhere
This is step one you need to fix. Logistics especially in your situation will be damn near impossible.
And yeah the housing market fucking blows. Ultimately this probably boils down to a career upgrade
yeah i keep trying but i never get interviews or calls back. i feel like i'm stuck here

Feel like getting a job these days is three things:
Have deeply complex stuff your employer is gonna have you use every day pre-built to demonstrate for them, or fully explained in blog-style posts. If you do not have this/cannot do this, you will have to go back to the lab and learn and build and write until this is ready. This can take months to years, depending on your level of education and other commitments.
Write cover letters that pertain to each specific bullet point laid out in a job posting. Don't worry about years of experience, just worry that you very specifically address each thing using stuff from your portfolio from item 1. Keep the letters simple, casual, and to the point. Don't spend more than five to ten minutes writing each one.
Send a metric fuck ton of applications. Like, literally dozens to hundreds a day if possible. Don't stop until you get a "when can you start".
[–]SunDevilElite42 -1 points0 points1 point 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
This right here is your problem, you are given solutions to your problems, but instead of listening and taking the advice, you just make up excuses. You don’t like that you are alone, yet you live in the middle of no where, you complain that uber cost too much but you refuse to drive because of your anxiety. Like how on earth can you expect to have different results if you refuse to change? I live in Las Vegas and if I told an attractive women that couldn’t drive us anywhere because driving gives me anxiety she would laugh and tell me “good luck”. I’m not trying to make you feel bad just giving you the unfiltered truth so that you can change for the better. Attractive women are attracted to masculine men that aren’t scared
[–]Gaydame 4 points5 points6 points 3 years ago* (1 child) | Copy Link
OK, 2 approaches here.
The practical stuff already suggested by others. Healthy diet, exercise, get new clothes to feel better on the outside, hair cut, groom, etc. try new things, get a hobby you really care about. Creative things you care about too (if you're at the point where you don't care about anything, just pretend to) This seems insignificant but it slowly adds up.
The other branch. And this next bit I can't state strongly enough (just to counteract the other advice on this thread). Your feelings of worthlessness and being unlovable have nothing to do with women. They come from toxic shame and a wounded inner child which comes from some aspect of your childhood. For this you need a therapist. If, for any reason, you can't afford or don't have access to a therapist (although these days it's easier, Better Help, etc) then at least start to read as much as you can about toxic shame, wounded inner child, attachment styles. There's a lot of info out there these days. There's a nice YouTube called "therapy in a nutshell" which can give a good introduction.
The end goal of this is that you grieve your lost child, reconnect with yourself and become whole again.
In short (and I know this from experience), no amount of attention from women will fix this (although I admit it might mask it for a while).
I'm 38 now and was an approach coach for around 5 years (day game, hence the name). I coached 100s of clients and I would say the vast majority had problems of self worth that didn't have anything to do with the women they imagined would make them feel better about themselves.
Good luck!
number 1 i'm already doing, wish i could get out more but i do have hobbies and creative outlets. number 2 i can't afford therapy but i'll try looking into that other stuff

Bro how do you look? Are you skinny, fat, muscular? Do you have any friends? How many hobbies do you have that you enjoy throughout the week?
All these questions will answer your question on what you need to work on. I’m 22 and I’m 1-2 years down this journey. Used to be lame, now I’m climbing to the top. We have to climb otherwise we would’ve been born as women.
6'2", fit but thin (not jacked) with light stubble, glasses, and shoulder-length wavy hair, not ones who ever include me in things, a few (mostly art projects and video games, and then fnm every week). thank you for asking
[–][deleted] 0 points1 point2 points 3 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
I’d say start working out for sure. If you’re not working out, it’s common for people to feel like shit when they go on social media and compare themselves to the swolle jacked dudes on there. Get into 2-3 physical induced activities. (Hiking, running, cycling, rock climbing, etc) and limit definitely how much video games and fnm you’re playing. I’d say less than 20 hours a week combined. Unless you’re making content out of it consistently, limit the time you play them.
i don't actually play more than a couple hours of video games a day at most (i'm not very good at them lol), and i do work out 2-3 times a week. those physical activities don't seem like something of interest to me, which combined with chronic pain in my legs is why i don't work out more than that, but i understand where you're coming from

He's talking about abs. Put work into yourself otherwise you're going to feel like shit forever. There are no shortcuts, no magic phrases that will make your self-loathing vanish overnight and turn you into a chick magnet. The only way out of the pit is up through it. So you can either resolve to improve yourself, and suffer the struggle along the way, or you can remain in the pit and suffer that instead. It's really that simple.

if onlin dating (OLD) isn't working then why don't you approach IRL? I'm same age as you and started cold approach 13 months ago. I've made out with 100+ girls and slept with dozens in these 13 months. Before cold approach, I also had no luck with OLD. Tried OLD for 8 years on and off with ZERO success. Never met a girl via OLD.
This is how I got started: https://www.reddit.com/r/1PercentDating/comments/sagseq/what\_it\_took\_for\_me\_to\_finally\_start\_doing\_cold/

It means put in the work and leave his comfort zone - I've got a couple of friends (good looking, with relatively normal jobs) who refuse to deal anything outside their comfort zone and either pull 2s and 3s, or sit at home smoking weed and arguing with people.
I don't see why people are so terrified of cold approach - you don't even need to be direct, matterfact it's better not to be.
2s and 3s? why would that part matter if they're people your friends like and enjoy spending time with, i'm confused. i mean, they're still getting girls interested right?
you didn't mention that part, of course by law of large numbers you'd get someone interested eventually doing that lol. i unfortunately can't really do that, i don't really have a way to "get out" outside of work and fnm tbh
[–]5_7pickup 1 point2 points3 points 3 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
Why cant you get out?
as previously mentioned, i don't drive due to anxiety issues, plus there's nothing nearby for me to even do. like there's a bowling alley and that's literally it lol

When you look in the mirror would you want to date yourself? If the answer is no than work on yourself first before even attempting to talk to a woman. You are your own worst enemy, and I’m going to give you some tough love, try to quit using depression as a crutch and start being accountable for all the bad things in your life. The only reason you are where you are is because of you and no one else.
i mean of course i would, we'd have a ton in common and the same level of sex drive lol. why would anyone not date a gender-swapped version of themselves?

sorry you had a bad experience with this but quite frankly most people here are either straight retarted and just good looking or decent looking with great game and those guys tend not to post too much afte r a while. You’ll probably just get dudes telling you it’s your confidence or something idiotic like that.
it could be. you said you have anxiety. work on that. besides that girls are hard to get. either cold approach indirectly and get good at it or find some hobby or social gathering setting to meet girls. but unless you go back to school or switch to a profession we’re you’re around plenty of girls you’ll just have to cold approach. if you’re are ugly it will be harder. best you can do is grow out facial hair and fix your hair and then maybe wear some lifts and dress better. if you’re ugly going indirect will help you because you won’t get rejected really and you can spam till you find a girl
also get some hobbies that make you likeable. preferably some you enjoy and can join other groups of people that do it. earn good money etc
what are "lifts?" the rest of what you're saying i think i get that just stuck out
[–]grindforthegold 0 points1 point2 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
lifts are shoes with extra inches of height. i usually run them at 2.5 inches. beyond 3 could be noticeable , but up to 2.8 it’s not noticeable. i’m 5’4 and currently talking to a girl 3 inches taller. in fact all my gfs have been taller than me. helps you get your foot in the door

If you want to be loved, then start by loving yourself. Love yourself enough to have good hygiene, workout, have proper nutritional meals. Love yourself enough to want to better your standing in society ( mostly in terms of a good job and pursuing financial freedom).
If you're going to places that have people with common interests, you should be the one approaching, 9/10 times, guys are the ones who approach and women typically expect guys to approach anyways.
Good luck, and remember, you're only 29. You have a lot of time to improve yourself.
i do all those things funny enough. i didn't know i was supposed to be the one approaching, that's pretty unfair imho, why do guys have to be the ones who approach? from these comments it's apparently not hard for anyone to do. thank you though, i do have some time left

Women should not even be on your radar right now. Take it from somebody who has learned many things the hard way. And most women generally don’t approach. Doing the approach is what half of the posts here are about. But none of that is going to help you if you’re broken inside. And you can’t expect a woman to fix you.

This isn't the sub for you. You need to improve your sense of self worth by learning ways to heal your trauma and your inner critic. Meditate, goto the gym, learn breathwork, and consciously choose positive thoughts about yourself. Continuing to chase women with your mindset and emotional state will only yield more self loathing. Go inwards.

i'll try

So many of you guys are just using this sub as an extension of and in a manner seeking permission to … continue wallowing in your self induced pity party.
Read David Goggins - Can’t hurt me
Grow some fucking nuts and look in the mirror.
Whatever you have / have not been doing ISNT working And sitting around feeling sorry for your self while watching porn and pedistil-izing the concept of a woman loving you back… garbage as fuck.
You MUST be the cause of change. No one else will.
If you had women chasing you… would you give any attention or respect to the woman who …
1) puts you above herself 2) is fat 3) has nothing going in her life 4) scared of her own shadow
I could keep going but LOOK in that mirror and ask yourself… is this person in the mirror attractive to anyone?
Prob not. WHO FUCKKNG CARES. Fuck your self pity.
Learn macros Use my fitness pal to achieve macros Lift heavy (531 for beginners in r/fitness will change you in 6 months) Get MONEY achieve goals Chase success Take a class
Forget about bitches and before you know it
You will look in that mirror in 6-12 months and BE IN LOVE WITH YOURSELF
If you had a host of women to choose from Wouldn’t it be better to choose one or many who are
1) fit 2) smart 3) have a purpose 4) confident
See where I’m going here.
Fuck the internet. Fuck a Reddit pity party
Get on you goddamn grind as a man.
Truth is the world and all women don’t give a fuck about you or your struggle.
Less than 6ft tall, avg looks, bald? Who fucking cares.
Control the vars you can control. Else you just look like a ginormoous pussy
first off, in regards to the first bullet list: yes i would because why would i give a shit about looks over personality. looks change over time, the core of who you are almost never does. if any of those women are nice people who i have things in common with and enjoy being around me, why WOULDN'T i give them attention? by being that shallow, and saying things like "grow some fucking nuts" you've invalidated a majority of what you've said and proven you don't give good advice.
and for the record, i DO work out. and shower daily. and have no problems approaching people for conversation. and am over 6ft and well groomed. so fuck off making fun of someone who's depression was really flaring up when he posted this unless you're going to ACTUALLY help
[–]purplehammer -1 points0 points1 point 3 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
Well i mean you have put that pretty fucking horrifically but there is something to be said for the advice here, specifically the note of introspection of would you be interested if a girl approached you as xyz and how its always on you.
The issue is that the sort of person who could benefit from and need to hear this advice (yes likely op) will simply take it as rude and insulting.

That’s his problem. And until he realizes it. Owns it. And implements plans to change it. Nothing will change. The toughest pills to swallow are the ones that need swallowed the most.
I’m not speaking out of my ass either. Been there. Spent way too long feeling sorry for myself and looking for magic bullets and “support” from others whom are in the same boat.
End of the day. Being a man in this world is 100x tougher than any non man realizes and they don’t give a fuck even if they did realize it.
My delivery was purposefully blunt and abrasive. So as to serve as a wake up call and a call to action.
On one is truly depressed. Go get help from a medical professional not a subreddit.
If not truly depressed. Let’s just call it what it is. A bunch of pussy footing, pity party, enablement.
No woman. Regardless of her looks… is EVER going to find a man attractive who is a mopey pity party fuck.
What they will get wet for, is a man who said fuck it. Did him. Has a mission. Is improving his body And mind daily.
You lose money chasing women, never women chasing money.
Plug in anything for money in that statement and get the fuck off reddit and the couch.

Read the literature. Start with The Game, while not instructional it should be motivating.
never heard of it, is it free to download?
[–]Contango6969 0 points1 point2 points 3 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link
The game by Neil Strauss. You can probably find it online. It’s a cool book, made to look like a bible with the gold leaf on the pages and everything I recommend getting it physical copy if you can.
[–]elementalheroshadow -1 points0 points1 point 3 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link
i would never want something like that lying around, i live with other people but i'll look
[–]MayhemReignsTV 2 points3 points4 points 3 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
Get the e-book then. There’s solutions for almost every situation these days.
i know that's what i meant by i'll look into it lol
[–]purplehammer 1 point2 points3 points 3 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
Why would this be an issue to you? Presumably the people you love with are already going to be aware that you struggle with women, so why would a book designed to help you with said issue be an issue? That is assuming you are not living a lie and projecting yourself as something else ofc.
I would also say don't try to live up to other peoples expectations, they don't matter. No matter who they are. Live up to your own standards and expectations for yourself.
that's true, thank you for being encouraging
[–]Lmitation -1 points0 points1 point 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
This oozes desperation. Women don't love that. Why do you say you'll never amount to anything? You're only 29, do self work and self improvement first before you focus on trying to bring someone else into your life.

Step 1: Men's fashion, just as women like to dress themselves up.

From this point forward, take accountability for every single thing in your life - even if it’s not your fault.
Your life will change in 3 months.
[–]NinetailsDestruction -1 points0 points1 point 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Don’t make yourself a victim. Blame only yourself and not women. Also stop trying to get women, you need to fix yourself and be able to love yourself before you can get in a relationship.

Ok I’ll tell you my secret pick up line that gets any girl you use it on. Just walk up to her and say “roses are red, violets are blue, but all I wanna know is wat dat mouf do”.

Find value in your life. Women are great and it’s a lot of fun getting to know them but you also have to make it fun for them. Do this by being the best version of yourself. Read, exercise, make money, make challenging goals and go and try to get them. You need to attract women so work on being more attractive to the type of women you want
[–]Fussingtonstation 0 points1 point2 points 3 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link
First, you are not worthless. You are absolutely worthy of love. Someone would be grateful to have you in their life. Don’t rob them of that.
But I imagine this lack of self-love is really evident to other people, which is why you’re struggling.
So while finding a girlfriend or hooking up with many women may seem like the most natural solution, it’s actually the end-game, not the stepping stone. External love and validation should be additive to your life, not the foundation.
Some of the other comments are telling you things to do that will help you build confidence and self love. They’re clear steps that really do help a lot of people reach that end goal that you want.
I’d suggest an exercise first. Sit down and imagine the life you’ve always wanted. Write it out. Think about what you’re doing for work, who you spend time with, what you feel like, what hobbies you participate in.
That’s the life you need to start working towards. Work backwards from that goal by working out, eating healthy, upping your fashion sense, getting out there to meet people, changing jobs or getting a promotion.
Then imagine your ideal partner. Write those traits down in detail. Next: If it’s a gender neutral trait, leave it. If it’s a feminine trait, flip it to the equivalent masculine trait. That’s the person you want to be.
Do the same thing and work backwards toward that person. Maybe that means getting fit, maybe it means having a solid group of friends, stable finances, a good sense of humor or being good in bed*.
It will suck at first. Probably for the first six to eight months honestly. But you will see results. Keep at it long enough and you will find a partner.
If you can’t practice that last one, study it. Learn about female anatomy. Read books on it *written by women. Watch porn meant for women. You’ll get the basics from that.
[–]elementalheroshadow 1 point2 points3 points 3 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link
thing is funny enough, i actually AM good in bed. last girl i was with lost track of her orgasms and couldn't walk after i was done lol. the only part of that i don't really have is friends, at least not ones who ever include me in what they're doing. been that way since high school, i'll have people claim they like having me around but never actually show it (like at one point i stopped hanging out with the gaming club at college for a month or so and when i got back everyone was like "where were you man? i missed you!" bitch like 6 of you have my contact info and NOBODY texted to see if i was ok or to hang out lol)
[–]Fussingtonstation 1 point2 points3 points 3 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
Maybe that’s your task then. Make genuine friends first to fill your life up and get you the support system you need. Try to make female friends too - like with 0 romantic expectations.
Especially early on though, you need to put a lot of effort into friendships. People have busy lives. To carve out a spot in someone else’s life and make yourself a part of it, you have to be pretty proactive as an adult. Invite them out, be the first to text, check in on them. If someone invites you out, make sure you invite them out/over the following week. If it’s not reciprocated after the first three times, then look elsewhere.
I operate by the assumption that I have see someone and hang out with them one-on-one 7 times before they feel naturally comfortable around me and genuinely start caring about me.
i do actually have more female friends than male ones, i just feel more comfortable talking to them. i'll try more, but you're right, everyone is just really busy
