Had a recent girl doing this with me and I was crazy about her.. probably would’ve married her.
In the end it just got too much and I had to quit. Felt like I was on a string, every day felt like a comedown. Still not over it, so this comment hits different.

Been in your shoes, it's insane. When they love you, you feel like a thousand bucks but they rip the rug out under your feet at a whim. I'm so glad you got out of that situation, it truly becomes exhausting!

arrogant & rude
My question is should I always practice arrogance and being rude to get female's attention? With the intention of not manipulation of course.
[–]VeliVoy 7 points8 points9 points 4 years ago* (6 children) | Copy Link
Not really, just say and stand for what you believe in even if it has a possibility of her leaving you. Don't just let her mistakes or her being rude to you slide. Say it there and then, if you gonna talk to me like that, I might have to re consider my choice. Always be ready for her to leave you. Never beg. Be assertive, not necessarily rude. If she loves you, she will come back and you have the control.
If you start compromising you lose your power.
[–]MJoe111 4 points5 points6 points 4 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link
What about being over confident and then get rejected awkwardly? I'm asking because I have a crush on someone for over a year, and I'm planning on confessing even though I feel she'll reject me hard :/
[–]VeliVoy 4 points5 points6 points 4 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link
Just go for it bro, meet her face to face, look her in the eyes confidently and confess what you feel like..... Don't make it like a big deal, you just say I like you and if you wanna go out together let me know. If she says no, you can just change the topic and act like it's not a big deal. That would show that you like her, but you're not desperate for her.
Once you learn to take rejection, nothing can affect you. See, you can't make anyone love you.

Arrogance is often mistaken for Confidence
[–]MJoe111 1 point2 points3 points 4 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link
Mmm so I should practice being more confident.
[–]Mundane-Currency5088 1 point2 points3 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
I know guys that fake it like they imagine they are and are able to attract women that way. But true confidence comes from looking at your own values, decide if they makes sense to you and figure out why so you can express that in an intelligent way. Then figure out what your goals are and what hobbies interest you. Every time you meet a personal goal that gives you confidence and naturally makes you happy. There is more to it but it's about becoming who you are in the positive way.
[–]Mundane-Currency5088 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Once you know who you are and what your values are you will start to be happier and it will show in conversation. And you won't have to settle because you will have gained fulfillment without needing someone. Needing someone is for after you have been with a partner for a while and it's all groovy. But they need to have goals and values too.
The person above is right. Abusers do not act badly at first. They act like the fairy tale prince sweeping you off your feet (love bombing). Then once you bond through touch and affection the roller coaster begins. They choose these men because you cannot tell the difference between a wonderful human being and a faker sociopath, only the sociopath is better at pretending to be the person you are Looking for. Dating a help person will involve some conflict resolution and the fairy tale prince is already perfect. Learn about emotional intelligence and set healthy boundaries. Learn the difference between setting boundaries and being inflexible, basically balance. One of those boundaries is realizing that most people probably need therapy and that if those women are in a Cycle of choosing bad men you probably do not want to deal with the habits that go along with that one of which is that a love bomber will allow you to act crazy and be abusive to them as a woman, even call it cute or being supportive on their part instead of saying hey I care about you but this behavior hurts me.

This is way, way more accurate and eloquent than the OP. This should be in chapter 1 of dating 101.
It’s not about being an asshole all of the time, or even some of the time. It’s about limiting being overly nice.
[–]cobraCL 6 points7 points8 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Thank you, though I do think we can extend OP some empathy. Its normal to feel anger and cynicism after a person gives their heart to someone, does everything a "good" man should do and still gets his heart ripped out and trampled on.
I've certainly felt like OP at a stage, but time and reflection have been the best teachers. We have no control over others but how we respond to them is a choice each and every time. We teach others how to love us.

This kind is a "masculine" attitude- Not sure what kind of "good" women you are meeting who aren't attracted to that kind. Met the best of women, who are at least attracted to men with this attitude depending on the magnitude, some are attracted to the extreme, some slightly but all of them are.
EDIT : Obviously if you're meeting women in their late 20s or 30s who've already went through this phase (Attracted to the bad boy, got cheated or dumped and learnt their lesson) would be smarter while choosing a man and not get attracted to that kind.
[–]BudgetInteraction811 17 points18 points19 points 4 years ago (7 children) | Copy Link
Why would you assume women who are mature are all hurt and carrying baggage because every single female must like abusive men, just that the older ones learned a lesson from it?
[–][deleted] 4 points5 points6 points 4 years ago (6 children) | Copy Link
Actually this is typically the case lol.
It's very hard to find a 30+ single female who doesn't have some kind of baggage. Let alone the ones who are single with kids or already divorced.
Not saying it's a bad thing, it's just inevitable with time.
And baggage doesn't have to be abusive, it can be all kinds of things that affected them when they were younger. But that's the nice part of about life, you learn from mistakes and pick up on these patterns sooner.
[–]Dza0411 7 points8 points9 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
It's very hard to find a 30+ single female who doesn't have some kind of baggage.
That's also true for men of that age. Single ones and the ones in a relationship. The life has ups and downs, living it forms who you are.
[–][deleted] 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Yes but I would say baggage is treated very differently for men than women. And women tend to accumulate this faster then men, most likely because of the perceived biological timeclock. Not saying men don't eventually catch up, but there is a reason that warrants women to get into relationships and heartbreak faster than men.
[–]willgo-waggins 1 point2 points3 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
And you are inferring that this is confined to women only.
Please! Men are far more burned and affected because very few at that age have the tools to understand true emotional interaction and maturity and therefore are the biggest cause of the damage because they are still thinking with their cock and not their head.

[–]Bad_Mad_Man -1 points0 points1 point 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
Yes, women have baggage. The longer they’re alive the more they have. Have you been outside? Have you seen what women have to face on a daily basis? Hell! Have you been on-line even? How often do you have to worry about your physical safety for example? Women have to literally watch their ass wherever and whenever they leave their homes. Wherever they go there is a contingent of men of all stripes who want something from them. There are blogs, YT channels, subs, classes, etc that discusses nothing but how to trick and coerce them into having sex. Not a two way relationship, just a hump and dump. Yes, there’s plenty of normal reasonable men, but women are always in the crosshairs of at least a few predators wherever they are. Yea, they have baggage. As a man I don’t know how that feels, but if that were my life experience I’d probably be up in a tower with a high powered rifle after one day of that shit. I’m shocked that baggage is all they have.

Not sure how old are you, but I am fresh out of college and this is what I've experienced in my 5 years of college. Maybe you're older so you'd have more experience with the mature kind of women, but those are not the ones I am interested in....The younger college girls are all interested in those kind of men- They want some thrill, games, mixed signals & excitement. Obviously when you're looking to settle down in mid 20s or later, you'd want a nice gentlemen who would take care of your future babies and not play mind games.

Don't worry mate. We've all been there. No reason to be spiteful. What you say isn't wrong though. You are essentially describing the attraction triggers in a female mind. Yes, people get bored at some point, who would have thought. Yes, girls get attracted to masculine "Warlord" traits, that's what brings up those tingling feelings and make them wet.
IMHO, girls need both: the arrogant "Warlord" and the supportive "doormat". the former for nailing her and the later for raising her kids and looking after her. Choose which one you want to be. Or you could be a bit of both.

I think the problem is that they don’t see you for who you are.
In some ways you make the douch seem small. But she doesn’t notice that.
But there are people that see that you make the douch appear small.
For instance, some people see that you’re wiser, more mature, a beter person, have more genuine confidence, etc..
These are people that either have similar traits or look up to those traits. They are aware of your strengths. While the one that picked the douch only sees his strengths and is ignorant to your strengths.
Only downside is that more people are aware of his strengths than yours.
I think.
[–]that_guu 2 points3 points4 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
I understand you. I faced something similar. I'm not a nice guy in general, but Im kinda nerdy. A lot of times I would have someone belittling me and whenever I would try to fight back I would seem small and bitter... And definitely unattractive.
Until I asked my self: What the hell am I even doing with those guys? Im not one of 'em and I definitely don't aspire to be like them.
So I got the hell outta there. Nowadays you will see me actively avoiding people that I don't find interesting. I changed my perspective. I don't wait for people to accept me, unless I have accepted them first.
Life is waaay too pointless for me to care about things that doesn't maximize my well being.

Someone who is full themselves does not equal someone "who isn't afraid to walk away from the relationship, one who doesn't care about her more than he cares about himself." If you are too afraid too walk away you are just a pussy. If say you care more about her than yourself you are just a liar or so desperate you are willing to lie to yourself so you can stay with someone.
Some guys are just too socially inept to make a distinction between the two and try to be some badass and end up being cringe while still not getting laid.
[–]VeliVoy -5 points-4 points-3 points 4 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link
"If you say you care more about her than yourself you are just a liar"
No man, love is a crazy thing. It's not the desperation, you just start to love the person to the core and you're willing to do anything for them. Love makes you blind is a true statement.
[–]cronasminate 3 points4 points5 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
No that's called emotional attachment. You have allowed yourself to be attached to someone so you start to consider them as part of you because you don't feel good without them. Your dependence to them is still conditional on the fact that you feel good while you are with them. You like them to be there still for your own selfish reason. "You'd do anything for them" because you are scared of losing this positive source of daily feeling good.
It's pretty obvious by your post that you are neither in control or aware of your own emotions.
[–][deleted] 3 points4 points5 points 4 years ago* (0 children) | Copy Link
Women are attracted to men that are both. The douchy agressive assertive confident man that will protect her. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s6b33PTbGxk
The douch is someone in the middle, he is seen as someone that has options, so he is better than the simp, but ideally it's not really what women want because we see him as someone that ”has to try”.
Women like men with options that reject other women.
”Girls want a bad boy who is good only for her”
[–]Bad_Mad_Man 5 points6 points7 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Women are not a homogeneous block. They are people with vastly varying tastes, personalizes, and behaviors. If you see them as just a faceless herd then it’s your approach that’s the problem not “women”. They don’t ALL get together and conspire against men. Remember the old saying “to a man with a hammer the world looks like a nail.” If anyone brings the energy in this post to any interaction it will certainly end badly.
[–]CowgirlBebop575 5 points6 points7 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
Honestly, I think those people just put themselves out there more. They seem to thrive on attention from others so they're more extroverted. A bigger social circle is key for getting opportunities for dates or even jobs.
Introverts generally have a harder time with finding someone as they may have a smaller social circle.
Also, there is a difference between being 'nice' and being someone who is desperate for approval. I've had guys twist themselves into pretzels to agree with me on everything, even to the point of taking back some of the things they said. It's annoying and uncomfortable since I am not sure what they really think. I have always respected people who were unapologetically themselves, who don't apologize for their personality or opinions. That's not necessarily a 'bad boy'. I like that trait in women as well. It can be seen by some as arrogant and rude (especially if they disagree with an opinion or if they aren't able to be so assertive), I just see it as confident and sexy.
[–]willgo-waggins 3 points4 points5 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
It’s interesting what you say here.
In my situation, my current girl and I started as FWB with lots of feelings and things going on from both sides. I’m quite a bit older so I was able to hold back and let myself see where things were going.
She plunged and was quickly taking about future and life together and on and on.
Then she got herself scared by the depth and volume of her feelings for me.
This resulted in an incident while we were out one night of her getting snippy while drunk (out of character) and getting mean about my behavior which was simply me watching out for her in a public venue.
The following day she was absolutely terrified that I would reject her. She apologized over and over and begged forgiveness. She let me know that she wasn’t ready yet for a “relationship” and she didn’t know when.
What I did was seize the opportunity presented. I reminded her that it was she who wanted to move beyond an FWB situation and into a relationship. I reminded her that I had said from literally day one that we should be cautious and patient and allow things between us to develop naturally and in their own time since we both were not ready yet. I said that no matter what happened that we would always be the best and closest of friends and that our sexual relationship would continue healthy and enjoyable, but that as we were not yet committed that we should understand that we might not be entirely faithful.
Essentially I out HER into the friend zone to get control of the wild fluctuating emotional roller coaster that we were riding due to her desire to be together conflicting with her fears from recent relationships gone bad.
And thus far it has been quite successful. We are - after seven months - moving along gently and slowly growing a secure and loving bond together that grows stronger on a daily basis.

When they get out of a "bad relationship" they lament thier choice of assholes by the delusional statement, "chivalry is dead" but eventually go for the next egocentric hunk. A lot of marriages are full of gaslighting, arguments and abuse. Good guys are boring to them but while they need to be rescued they may have a little lapse of clarity and lead you on but in my experience run right back into what they called a "soul death trap"..

No one likes boring and predictable. Even though people say they hate drama, some drama is fun in an otherwise mundane existence. It's really like that song, fuck her gently. I.e you need to mix it up.

I get tired of these fucking posts, it has been explained ad nauseam. It’s about guys who put themselves first and go for what they want and have that as a priority over caring what others think about them, guys that take risks and are confident. It has little to do with being a gentlemen or not, it just happens that a lot of self absorbed assholes or narcissists do have these attractive treats. Seriously why does every fucking guy that has a stupid epiphany feels the need to make a topic and share his “knowledge” with everyone.

Not necessarly true. I would say women want men who won't put them on a pedestal. Who won't simp for them. They also don't like shy guys for the most part. You need to have confidence (easier said than done, I know), and you can have even the girl you think wouldn't even look at you.
Trust me, I know so many average or slightly below average looking guys who are dating supermodel level of beautiful girls. I could never understand how they pulled them off until I hanged out with one of them and I realised just how confident he was.
Best example I can give is my cousin. He is really overweight and not that good looking at all. He is very confident and he has so much success with girls that it got to his head and he became a player. And it somehow works for him, I don't know how he does it but be always brings home at least 3-4 girls every month.
Then there is me. I hit the gym, lost 20kg and I am also pretty fit. I am more good looking than him (been told by plenty of people) but I lack the confidence that he has. My weakness has always been my shyness. Quite ironic because when I am around other guys and my male friends, I am the most charismatic person in the group who never shuts up and makes everyone laugh. But around girls ? Completely the opposite. I don't have the success that he has, but I have my qualities and I won't change who I am just to get a girl. You shouldn't either.

More true words were never written. Totally agree with you man. And what's more cruel n unfair to the next good guy that comes in her life after she gets dumped or assaulted by that bad guy is the distrust , insecurity , loss of trust in the good guy. Poor guy will try to do everything good by her and yet will be treated will all the negativity n worse as if he was the one who did it.
Stup*d women in some cases seriously. Will ignore all the red flags under the influence of movies where the bad guy was converted n was madly in love with her n her only. Wake up you are not the central piece in a movie. You could easily be the girl that got dumped n used before the central piece arrives.

India gang haha. One of my female friends thinks she can change a guy who's a text book-definition of a playboi but she's not willing to listen to any of us and thinks she can fix him lol. She doesn't even believe that he's a fuckboi. Changed her whole schedule so she could talk to him for 5 mins in a day because he's too busy for her and doesn't give her enough attention. Guy said you can call me for 5-10 mins while I am at the gym at 11 in the night and she, the girl who slept at 8 started staying awake lol. Funny part is she thinks he actually likes her when he has never said anything.
She was one of the girls with the highest self esteem, attitude and confidence I knew, but she's like a baby in front of him. Soft as an ice-cream. She is an extrovert, could talk non stop for hours but she's too shy to say anything in front of him.

I don't blame her tbh, she says she forgets everything after talking to him. Not able to think correctly or logically in front of him. She just loves him too much.... At normal times, she tells me talking to him is ruining her mental health, & she'd stop but she is unable to.....It's so toxic imo but maybe she likes it that way so good luck to her lol.
She signed up her ruin. Let her face her fate
Indian gang here too! And I have been in similar situations like this before. Finally decided to stop being a nice & submissive guy who simps a lot for girls. Just focusing on myself now. We should always think we are the prize and we are our highest priority. Become selfish for your self development instead of wasting time and emotions on girls who don't value us. Girls will come and go.

Knowing what you want in life and not relying on or putting other people over yourself is not immature. It’s actually the opposite
You’re right in your observation but you don’t need to change yourself any more than just finding what you want from life and taking it

Women don't have any interest in helping a beta male like you procreate. It's in their best interest to stop you from procreating but you are also doing a fine job of that yourself.

Shocker but there is no such thing as nice guys and bad boys. It's not that he is an asshole that attracts her but that he doesn't try to hide his nature through a some false gentlemanly facade.
Another shocker, hot women will piss you off, they will turn you off, they will make you want to not see them just as much as every other human on this planet will.
Also, women tell terrible advice to low value men so they don't succeed, if you are higher value then you can get all the sauce from women. The issue is you, not them.
