Yes. These. I'm not that skilled to pull it off unless we've already done something.
I've found the mature women don't like brash or crude language before they have emotionally invested. At that point, my leeway to be even more of a dick, is a lot bigger. (Pun intended)
To sum it up. I've put in the work with her. I've been respectful and she knows that no matter how much of an asshole I'm playing, it's not real. I'm actually a chill dude that cares.

You are writing poems man. Don't worry about people still on the ABCs. They will get there with a little guidance and practice.

[β]MeanYeti 7 points8 points9 points 4 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link
This will never be me, I HATE using emojis. They're either super sarcastic looking, way too goofy or just do not represent my real emotion about a situation at all. I'm a fan of the old school text emotes much more. :)
[β]Efficient-Evening911 2 points3 points4 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Same for me but unfortunatlly text alone look to formal doesnt convey any emotion and it can be easly miss understood especially if ur teasing or trying it be playful
Lol. Those are good too. The emotes are definitely perceived better when I'm communicating with older women than myself.

This is some great stuff bro, look forward to seeing more of your posts.
Do you have any conversation samples you could share that show you using emojis as you advise in this post?

[β]Iistendipshit 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (6 children) | Copy Link
Emojis are your friends and weapons.... To end up in the friendzone or even childzone. Like who the fuck in their right mind will take you even remotely serious if you're using more than 1 emoji per convo. If you need to use more than one than you're overtexting. And if you can't end a simple sentence without an emoji just goes to show your massive insecurity.
[β]mmmm_frietjes 5 points6 points7 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
You shouldn't change your texting style, just be yourself. I use ":p" a lot , I'm not gonna stop doing that because it might be weird, otherwise I will have to keep cramping my style until the relationship ends, fuck that.
Agreed. My style evolved as I obtained new vocabulary and tested it out.
[β]surfershane25 2 points3 points4 points 4 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link
Hard disagree, I donβt think you should with every person youβre interested in but Iβve noticed more engagement from women who use emojis often when I use them back but women who donβt use them I donβt know if thereβs a difference. Iβm 31 and women younger than me tend to use them more and older use them less in my experience because Iβm on the cusp of people that grew up with them and those that only used them from like 13+ years old and on.
This is a similar observation. I'm 31 as well. I actually enjoy communication with the older women a bit more. The ones younger, It's relatable if you speak the same language.
[β]surfershane25 2 points3 points4 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
And Iβm a marketing major so I took a lot of comm and psych based stuff and youβre spot on with it. Use the same type of communication and youβll get better resultsβ¦ know your audience as they say.
This man gets it. You create personas of the target audience. You create a funnel, build subscribers and market to them.
Be a boss bro!
All I'm doing out here is giving guys the tools to success and wrapping it with motivation.
[β]FakeSafeWord 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
What if I'm trying to pick up an adult though?
Good question.
Women flirt pretty similarly across all age groups. The difference is their choice in language and their level of vocabulary.
I would encourage you to analyze that vocabulary before you try to play tug of war at the emotional level. You might misstep if you make broad generalizations.
I would also check any level of judgment. There might be another guy that's speaking her language. The language you completely dismissed because you were better than her.
[β]-Twyptophan- 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link
Good advice. Would also add to never use π
This one doesn't have a clear definition socially, so I've only found it useful with other context.
I will admit, my test results were too limited to consider it effective.
The best case where I believe it had potential was when I use it to communicate my work ethic. Like a humble brag.
I do keep up with modern colloquialisms, and I've found trends will sometimes apply new meaning to old language.
In this case, I accept your notion, it's value has yet to be seen.
Dear God that comes off super nerdy. π
[β]-Twyptophan- 3 points4 points5 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Ha I'm a science guy too so the journal article language is pretty familiar to me.
I'll sometimes look at screenshots of convos on the tinder subreddit and I'll usually see people using π as an indicator of being shy and insecure, which I think is a bad idea when texting someone. I don't really see any context where that emoji can be used in a beneficial way. But like you said, trends can bring new meanings to old symbols so maybe one day it'll be useful
[β]Canadian-Seductioner 1 point2 points3 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
I use it all the time. It's similar to π, but it's reserved for when you're laughing at yourself or an unexpected situation.
[β]TheForestGirl9812 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link
Not correct at all. I as a woman use π all the time. Its just for fun and i dont make fun of him.
[–]random_af_guy4 points 4 years ago [recovered] | Copy Link
π exactly. It's playful banter. I'm leveraging language I hear from guys who struggle to see things abstract and take things literally.
To all the men here. You heard it. Straight from a woman's mouth. Your actions as a man, are more important than your interpretation of her intentions.

They think itβs endearing and βcuteβ but itβs actually weird and creepy.

I feel like this post is dedicated to the older generation or autistic people, that have a hard time connecting emojis to feelings/moods
In my experience girls all have their own emoji usage and one is not really applicable to the others. There's some intersections, but imo you cannot put a guide out there that is universal to all ladies. Just go with whatever emoji you find the most fitting and own it

Can I get more clarity on the 'adventure' part? I didn't get it
Adventure - An unusual and exciting, typically hazardous, experience or activity.
Most men take this literally. Fighting a bear seems like an adventure. That's very physical. It's observable. Just like boobs. Yes, boobs, you horny animal π. Watching a drama movie with love and fantasy sounds completely torturous.
Women experience things differently. They have a strong sense of the feelings. It's what makes them extraordinary care givers. Sex with you is an huge investment of emotion. It's dangerous yet rewarding. It's why they throw hallmark parties with their girlfriends and cry for hours. The experimentation of feelings is exciting yet draining.
A man who can hold her hand. Who can walk her down to the suppressed feelings that she's disassociated from, then bring her back to happiness. That's a bold and adventurous man.
A bit dramatic? Sure. Can you demonstrate this ability through a little flirtation? Absolutely. It's called building trust. She's not looking for an emotional bitch to go there with. She wants a brave soul, who's compassionate and delicate.
If you want to continue your research, there's a good series of books called Wild at Heart by John Eldredge. It speaks to the needs of man and woman. I discovered it while trying to understand my long term marriage after 11 years of dealing with a woman who is the mother of my 5 male boys.
Yes, there are exceptions. I'm a tech entrepreneurial consultant with experience in statistics and marketing. I work with big data and help new startups find a niche for success. The law of averages never lie.
I'm open to criticism.
