Yeah better to not go for number straight away. I guess if you weren't getting on the same train you might not have had time to do much else though.

If you have enough time next time, say something like 'Hey hows it going, I wanted to meet you' as it's a bit better than telling her she is cute, that implies how she looks is all you care about, and if she's hot well she already knows it.

I did a successful cold approach at a train station once, my line was just something like "Hey, been waiting long?" as the train had been delayed by about 30 minutes. Then we just got to talking about what we had been doing, she had been working at a restaurant nearby, mentioned she was studying, continued it from there. I knew we were catching the same train so I didn't ask for her number straight away. I just maintained the eye contact and was interested in her, then when we were 1 station away from mine, so then I said 'My stop is coming up, give me your number and we can catch up on the weekend' or something.

When we did meet up, she said she really liked how I approached her even though I was obviously nervous.

I got her to my bed on the first date but found out she was pretty much a virgin at 29 (Indian), and decided it was a bad idea to proceed, but still.

Good confidence but maybe you should've tried to brew up some small talk before just going right for it. Just enough to get her to know you're a person and not just some weirdo asking for her number abruptly. I'm not the best with these kinds of things so take it with a grain of salt, but I think it's best to get some sort of conversation rolling first.

I accomplished something similar today. I was at a bar at 6pm just getting my weekend drink.. i see this girl. I see her looking at me. I approached her and we talked for like half an hour. She didn't give me her number cuz well i am 19 and she is 29 but she told me that it was really great talking to me. Good for you bro!!

Personally I really liked the urgency of your approach and the fact that you were leaving in a few minutes which would've given her a few moments to make a decision to give her number and schedule a rendez-vous. Urgency isn't always a bad thing, especially if you seemed inviting and confident then left for the train, it leaves a mysterious vibe and some girls are into that.

"Why don't you write my number down." That isn't seduction. That is passive. You made a move but not the move. You ask her for her number next time not to have her write down your number. But at the end of the day you made the approach. Very well done more exposure, practice and you just might be able to hit it and still have 30 seconds to make your train.
