My entire adult life, I have been very cognizant, even self- conscious, about being perceived as "creepy" by women.

I know for a fact that this preoccupation has held me back from not just hookups with women, but normal friendships and possible genuine relationships.

Even when she projects interest, flirts, or gets touchy, my inclination is to disengage and create distance. Not because I don't want her, but because I am convinced that any kind of escalation on my part would be unwelcome and creepy.

Consent and respect are so important to me, and I never want to cross any boundaries. But I think I see those boundaries or impose them on myself in situations where I would be welcome. How do I overcome this?
