Well, from an XX perspective, I'm with many of the girls in the thread - if someone used any of those tactics listed in the article I'd wonder why they hadn't learned manners as children. Light teasing I like fine, and I'll usually start it with someone. However, teasing strangers about their physical appearance or personality, especially when it is intended to make someone feel insecure, is incredibly rude. I'd get up and leave after calling them out.

I would never use them on anybody either.

I was at a club last weekend and told a girl she danced like Elaine Benes from Seinfeld. I made the 'little kicks' gesture. I had a big grin and was obvious I was joking. She was actually an excellent dancer and she knew it...She smiled, laughed, gave me a playful tap on the shoulder, and negged me right back. At the end of the night I got a k-close.

There's a fine line between insulting someone and playful teasing. If you're going to neg, then you have to do it right.

Guys, this is a brilliant example of how the way you come across and project yourself affects what you say. The way you say is just as important as the what you say, if not more. Plus some of those 'negs' are fuckin' retarded.

The prevailing belief in XX is that people who use pick-up techniques are sleazy scumbags (decidedly unattractive). No matter what you say or how charming you try to be, no matter how genuine, these women already hate you. Now, if Ryan Gosling or some other attractive dude said that, it would probably work. But unfortunately, their perception of what a PUA is a guy with one to many gold chains and over-applied axe body spray.

Now, we know that our problem is not that we don't respect women enough or that we only value women for sex, the problem is making seduction an instinct rather than something forced (at least for me).

Also, it is interesting that the subreddit picks up on the worst elements of the scene, but there is no mention of the numerous articles that focus on improving oneself and trying to be a better man, more socially aware. They miss out on the numerous posts that bang on about being a real person who is actually awesome, not what you want to be.

I'm glad that none of the guys from Seddit were foolish enough to "correct" them (a fool's errand) but would hope that at least one of the several female sedditors tried.

Those negs are kind of mediocre, I think. One I've sometimes used on super attractive girls with nice hair is "Is that a wig?" I'm smiling when I say it, so they know it's kind of tongue-in-cheek. Never got a bad response. Ever. Some ask me to pull it to prove it's real.

Thing is, girls, would you rather a guy say "Oooh you're so pretty" or "Where are you from?" like a trillion other guys? That shit is boring and the former is quite manipulative...compliment her enough and maybe she'll sleep with you. Doesn't work, and it's also pretty insincere. She's probably not actually the most beautiful girl in the world or whatever...you just want to get into her pants.

I use negs not so much to "bring a girl down a peg" (well, maybe a little bit) but more as just an off-the-wall, weird, unique thing to say to a girl. It's not that different from asking "What's your favorite dinosaur?" or something like that. It's more fun for me (especially after talking to 20-30 girls in a weekend) and more fun for her too.

I don't want to be saying what everyone else is saying to her. I want to stand out.

Nothing wrong with that, in my opinion.

Finally, where is the reproach for all the women who are rude? I've had a girl flick me off after just saying "Hi, what's your name?" I laughed it off, but nonetheless, if some guy did that you'd be screaming about what an ass he is. And he would be, but so is the girl.

I think the problem is also a lot of people don't understand the true intention of a neg. It isn't to insult or comment on their physical appearance or even knock a conceited bitch down a couple of rungs. It's only used on "more attractive women" to create a strong frame of active disinterest.

Many men come on way too strong and get blown out of the water by models, actresses, or HB10's on a regular basis. Mystery developed MM in large metropolitan areas with an abundance of HB10's who get hit on 20 times a night, namely Toronto and LA. He needed a way to get in without being like the hundreds of chumps before him.
