I think it shows poor character, yeah, and would be turned off - not because you’re sleeping with your ex, but because you’re potentially sending mixed messages and therefore playing with the feelings of someone who sounds like they’d happily get back with you. It’d also raise alarm bells as to whether you’d be at risk of getting back with any of your exes given it’d highlight that you’re not the kind to leave those doors closed.

Ask yourself why they're an ex in the first place. Doesn't matter how good someone can be in the bed to me. It's toxic behavior. If it were a bitter breakup from her craziness, I would take the high road and be courteous to her in public and that'd be the extent of it. No outside communication or scheduled meetups, period. For an ex who is sane and we parted on good terms, I might have lunch with if asked every now and then or take messages over Facebook, Whatsapp, etc but no dating and no physicality.

People break up for a reason and if I was trying to engage in any type of relationship with someone that was still actively seeing their ex, that is a big indicator they aren’t ready or looking for anything other than sex, nor do they really respect themselves all that much. It’s not weird to hookup with an ex but this comes off as almost being so desperate for sex you would use someone you actively admit you’d never get back together with despite knowing they would want to which is a huge indicator of character and mindset. Instead of allowing both you and her to fully move on, you’ve created a cycle where you are still dependent on each other no matter what, that’s not really a full break up, you’re rationalizing it because it’s “just sex”, but you have even acknowledged that you keep returning because of sexual chemistry. If you know she still likes you, maintaining a sexual relationship is a horrible idea. Why do you even want to pursue other women at this point? This whole situation is a potential for a lot of drama that most people won’t want to get involved in, if you genuinely want to start sleeping with other people, stop sleeping with your ex.
