I found this out in a very peculiar way. Playing Assassins Creed 2, iirc? I loved playing as Ezio. He was confident and sure of himself in front of the ladies. Then i was forced to play as Desmond and absolutely detested him. Desmond seemed weak and unconfident. Then it occurred to me why i hated playing as Desmond: his posture! Desmond is hunched over and his back is curved making him come across as a scared ineffectual child. He would've been a fine character to play if his shoulders were back and he stood up straight. Go back and look at Ezio's posture! You can just feel that he exudes confidence by the way he stands.

Totally! I'm in my 30s and recently fixed my walking and standing posture. It makes an incredible difference. Just remember body language is the majority of the game.

This is exceedingly hard for me due to scoliosis.

I learned how to not let it get me down, because some women are sympathetic towards cripples, I hate relying on the fact, but at least they approach sometimes giving me the chance to show my bravado. I do find that going swimming can help me stand straight for a short time, but other then that, I use alternatives that anybody can use.

I found that keeping my feet pointed straight in front of me and keeping my palms open to who I am talking with is effective at conveying confidence when socializing. When sitting down, I just try to look approachable by taking up some space and leaning back keeping my legs more than shoulder width apart and my arms sprawled in casual situations. In a formal setting like a job interview, I find it better to have hands folded on the table, opening palms while making my points.

It's a shame it took a professional psychologist to teach me this stuff but at least i learned.

Also with back pain. And it does make a difference. As someone dealing with body related anxiety since I'm more or less a cripple, it's easier to be more confident when you look confidemt, and posture is a big part of that.

Yes posture makes a difference. I had an L4-L5 issue for years. Also, a girl told me years ago that my posture was bad and to work on it.

I use the Alexander techniques. I have an inversion board ehich is fantastic and also do neck bridges. Your back posture is important for the rest of your life. Take care of it

This becomes easier when I envision myself in third person and a layer of water around me.

I imagine being that other person towards myself.

It just becomes hard to re-center that self without meditating on it.

What helps me is imagine there’s a string tied to the center of your head and it’s holding you up, like there’s a balloon attached to the top of the string. This helps me when I’m walking

This is so true, no disclaimer necessary. It’s hard to remember though! What I do it pay special attention to my back at the gym, with the concept that a strong back will keep my posture better with no remembering necessary. Face-pulls especially, to tighten that upper back and draw your shoulders back and press your chest out

Chick's like the slouch sometimes too. You just gotta be smooth. Don't matter much your looks or weight. Just smooth and interesting. Doesn't even matter what you're talking about. One way I’ve learned to fix my posture was to lift my shoulders upward & then roll them back. Makes your chest pop out & you look more athletic in some way

I don't do posture exercises but I do lift weights and it helps as it makes my back and chest sturdier, hence being able to support my spine in a straight position for longer periods of time 😎
