Anybody that believes what OP said has never obtained a 10-12 percent body fat with a decently muscular physique.

You will notice women being more nice to you and finding excuses to touch you.

Anyone who believes women care about looks less than men is delusional.

The truth is that they care about looks as much as men. The difference is that they care about OTHER traits too, such as confidence, humor, etc.

Most studies done with women confirm that women like muscular men (no surprise) with it changing depending on her cycle. When you start getting crazy about it though, the effect starts to harm you for most women. Think the guys with the comically big muscles and shrunken dicks on roids. There's a happy medium.

In my experience being muscular makes women who would already be attracted to you more attracted, it will make no difference to those who never would have been interested anyway. They see it as a bonus, not the sole or even the most important factor in their attraction.

I don’t think the notion of “women aren’t visual creatures” is entirely true. Many Women do have body type preferences and many do get turned on by seeing a natural muscular build. I think studies have shown women prefer men who are normal weight who have some muscle but not massive like a true body builder. Even then, I know some women def hit on and pursue men they like visually (body plus face), it’s just women will base attraction on other features outside of looks than men do. So if you are either fat/overweight with a beer belly, or skinny less then 140 pounds soaking wet then you definitely should hit the gym and adjust calories to get the most attraction opportunities.

Also, you can get confidence from things other than body building.

Ok, BUT.

I get you point it's not the main course, however:

Every single spontaneous interaction I got from girls ever (since going back to heavy lifting & fighting) blatantly mentions my arms, body shape, strong physical frame without a single exception.

So NO, not only dudes like muscle, but I get your point - there's more to it - it doesn't get you all the way there, however, let's not fake being in your best shape and looking like you have standards for your self image doesn't matter or work.

Do the best you can on this front, just don't compare yourself to anyone else and never feel less because someone is stronger. OUR standards, the way WE MEN look at it is in fact irrelevant.

The glance and extra attention is worth it, quite a strong IOI - mood booster mix.

Would you like to augment the chances of yourself being open by women? Get in shape, dress with fitting clothes, groom & smell good. You'll be noticed and acknowledged in multiple fronts. A true confidence booster combo.

I disagree i went from being skinny fat approx 140 5 years ago to 185 now and lean and cut and get way better reactions than before and lots more compliments. I did looksmax everything else so not sure if just muscles did it. I improved hair, face, fashion and body

Most studies show that the biggest marker for initial attraction by women is waist to shoulder ratio.. so science mostly disagrees with your post.

What's interesting for me is they, my success with women hasn't seemed to depend on my personally going to gym or not.

Women don’t really give a fuck about muscle as long as your confident and decent looking and aren’t a loser.

Don’t be a ‘gymcel’, seriously I wasted most of 20’s just to realise every second you’re in the gym, you’re not building social circles, leveling up your craft, talking to women.

While you’re slaving in the gym and slamming down protein shakes, skinny guys or non-gym guys are cleaning up with women.

With that in mind, tread carefully, very easy to fall into ‘gymcel’ territory and it’s another form of mental masturbation, just like over-reading books.

A nice body is a ‘nice to have’, that is a cherry on top of who you are as a person.

We are visual creatures- women are the ones into interior decor, fashion, etc so that’s a silly thing to say. Body builder body’s just look uggg lol. Idk who told them that mess was attractive, it’s not.

My friend is like 8% body fat shredded and muscular and gets no girls. But he also doesn't even put himself in the position to talk to girls and he isn't the best at seducing. So no being fit alone will not get you girls. But for someone who is somewhat social and can speak to women with even an ounce of confidence it does help tremendously.

I did the self improvement arch the wrong way round. I got obsessed with gym and into really good shape in my mid 20s, and still struggled. Maybe did a little better than when I wasn't in shape but not really. Got compliments from guys though.

I got obsessed with 'inner game', mental/emotional strength and confidence in my late 20s, and that's when I started to have seriously good results. Like 50x what I was doing before.

I actually receive a lot of compliments on my physique from girls now, and they seem to be really into it. Get my pecs felt up all the time, get told to take my shirt off all the time etc.

It's funny how it was almost like women didn't notice how good of a shape I'm in until I had the congruent personality and vibe to go along with it. I would be curious how well I'd do if I was more out of shape/skinnier/fatter keeping the same personality. I imagine worse but I've never been able to test it.

All in all, being in shape is amazing, you feel better about yourself and others love it, BUT, it seems like just an 'enhancer', just like what I imagine it would be like to be rich, or high status.

Confidence is the core bread and butter. Without confidence you get no where. I'd much rather have confidence and lack the other traits, than have the other traits without confidence. Fortunately we live in a world where you can have multiple.

Bodybuilding just helps, it’s not “the” solution but a good body aids in the momentum… you gotta be able to carry that stride with confidence and a control over insecurity….

Getting built made a huge difference for me. Women initiate, constantly stare, and take every opportunity to touch you when you have a nice body. Yes, it generates attraction. If you want to maximize your attractiveness, you shouldn’t skip out on physique.
