Double your dating by David DeAngelo is a good ebook for a beginner who is looking for the bare bones basics of dating and attraction. Keep in mind though, the concept of "cocky & funny" that the book espouses can be tricky to apply. Cocky/funny should be treated as a spice to the main dish and not the main dish itself, as in don't overdo it just an occasional cocky/funny line here and there will work wonders.

Stick to the basics. Don’t try out fancy game tactics or weird behaviors. Don’t try to impress anyone. Learn how to flirt, learn how to be charismatic and funny and the rest will come from experience and practice. There’s nothing more cringe than a guy trying to be a smooth player when he’s obviously not. Smoothness will come with experience. Most often than not guys fuck up a chance of date by doing things wrong than right. Not coming off as weird, insecure, perverted is more important than coming off as charismatic, funny or popular.
