So I’ve been foraying into the world of multi-dating. I have to say the amount of men I’ve blocked, or just told we are not compatible with has increased dramatically. As an example; a man and I had been chatting all day and he was funny, intelligent, goal oriented and planned the date with zero prompting. Great right? I’m still vetting. Towards the evening hours he tries to gauge my interest in sex by asking what my “stance” is on STD/STI testing. I’ll be honest before FDS, I never set the boundary with men of testing. I got extremely lucky I didn’t give myself an incurable or fatal disease. Now, I do. So I did. Immediately started pushing back that it could only show active infections and wasn’t worth the money. I say “ok that’s your choice” and the backpedaling starts “oh I think you’re worth it, maybe you’ll prove it to me”. No sir. A STD panel is not a ticket into my pants, it’s the height requirement to ride the ride. You still aren’t guaranteed a spot. When I held firm that it was required to date, he blocked me. Trash took itself out. Now here’s the real victory for me. Prior to FDS, I would have felt crushed, rejected, or like I made a mistake asking for too much. Now? I was grinning ear to ear! THIS group of women has not only made me safer, happier, it has taught me tools to do that for myself and my daughter. To expect, demand better. Thank you Queens.
