Edit: Also what does the young girl marrying an old man for his money have to do with anything? I didn't mind the music video as satire, but is the ending dialogue between director and actor supposed to communicate that in reality, the rhetoric she's singing about in her song is not actually true, that in fact women do have roles of power? What was the meaning of praising Lauren after giving some negative feedback to the actor? Throughout the video we aren't given any context into Lauren's work, only the actor's.

Taylor Swift. I find her fascinating - her image, videos, rise to fame despite a relatively mediocre voice (sort of like Madonna and Britney).

I know she was mocking her boyfriends as much as tapping into clicheed misandry, and I cannot deny some of the artistic elements of the video. But the blatant misandry kept me from even finishing watching.

What I find the most bizarre is this: Is Taylor Swift, one of the most successful pop artists in the world, seriously claiming that she would have achieved much more if she was a man? In fact, which male artist with a mediocre voice outearns her? She is almost up there with the likes of Michael Jackson. Should we infer that a black, extremely effeminate, awkward Jackson has his gender to thank for his success...?
