Schools are often run by women with bigoted anti-male views (feminism). Logically if a group of students were in fact less developed educationally that would be a reason to spend more resources on them to catch up. But I'm guessing they did the exact opposite in whatever case you're thinking about?

In my understanding, female puberty starts 1-2 years earlier than male, and therefore there's a hormonal growth spurt around age 11 or so for girls, while boys are still, in the hormonal sense, pre-pubescent at this age. These are of course just average numbers. I imagine there's a lot of synaptic pruning and myelination going on in the prefrontal cortex at this stage, which is probably why behaviors tend to switch from childish, to a more teenage pattern. As puberty tends to start later for boys on average, this creates a 1-2 year developmental gap between the same significant growth spurts of the sexes. There's nothing wrong with that, it's a heathy developmental difference. This doesn't mean that one sex will end up more mature than the other, nor is this biological maturity necessarily the same as what an adult would view as mature. (A side effect of this adolescent maturity can be the start of popularity games amongst girl, for example. I wouldn't call that mature by adult standards.) The prefrontal cortex doesn't fully mature until young adulthood, between the ages of 25 and 30 and, although women tend to finish earlier on average, it varies greatly by the individual. So in a biological sense, technically, yes.

When I studied like 20 years ago it was a pretty parroted lie liked specially by female teachers.

That's just a myth inserted thanks to gynocentrism; women love to be part of the “best humans” and males out of good intentions will agree with that thinking to get easy social acceptance and the quick applause, now we can see results of these things.

Yes and no. Not really. A lot of that falls in line with this whole notion that women are just "more empathetic", which couldn't be further from the truth, but there are countless women who remain immature their whole lives.

Women benefit from gender roles that tell them they don't/shouldn't have to put in any effort to meet men and that they are inherently valuable, and men are raised with gender roles that tell them they need to be strong, tall, "masculine" and high status to be viewed as valuable(all qualities that men must develop and start off with very little of) and that they must seek out female approval/attention(which young men don't know how to do).

This means that growing up, only a very few boys will actually get female attention, whereas girls will grow up just having that attention from boys their age and older. This means that girls are get to mature in certain ways faster(mainly, hanging out with older kids and getting sexual/romantic experience earlier on) but they often kind of remain stagnant in that mindset. Boys grow up and mature in a social/romantic/sexual detriment and must grow and mature in a different way.

Boys don't get discriminated because of immaturity, even though people would put it like that. Girls hit puberty earlier, which (as I have experienced in my surroundings) results in a different relationship with physical activity and desire to be perceived as more mature. Which makes them imitate older girls/women. I don't think they are more mature. Their interests just shift to what is a big part of adult womanhood (sexual market value).

For guys that shift seems to be more gradual, as well as men's social circles are more tolerant. Women give social repercussions in a brutal way. Altogether I think girls get directly punished for being atypical once they hit puberty, by their peers. Boys on the other hand inherently get stigmatized, not by their peers, but by adult men and women, later on by their female peers. Which wouldn't be the case if adults treated and looked at boys differently.

To put it simply. The fact that the developmental process seems to differ for boys and girls just seems to be an issue for people.

My experience in maturing, as someone who is 4 years older than her partner, is that it didn't make a difference. He was 20 when we met and I have told him when I was 27: "around 24-25, you'll just register actually being an adult." He would make rash and sometimes stupid decisions, which I also did in my early 20s. But just in other things.

At the 24 years old mark, he all of a sudden had this anxiety about safety and long term consequences. Which is pretty much when your brain has fully developed that function. And seems to be a part of real adulthood. He told me: "yeah, I feel it now." And continued to be my man, same interests as before, just slightly less careless.

If you want to go with biology, then girls hit puberty earlier. However, I have seen many boys act more mature than girls, and just because you hit puberty does not mean that you matured. I mean I hit puberty and I'm a mix of mature and immature. So it depends on the person. Not the gender.

Anecdotal but from experience, females mature a lot later when it comes to emotions. Very childish in relationships up until the age of about 25

Because we were raised by teachers and a society that has anti male views. I’ve always thought that females matured faster than males mentally. Physically that is true. Females reach their peak physicality faster. However mentally, not necessarily. I’ve known guys who matured a lot faster than their peers and other guys(including myself) who took longer to mature. Those mature guys were the “cool” guys. Girls found them attractive and they got respect around middle and high school campus. I would say that it takes a mans brain longer for his analytical skills to develop and for his body to fully mature physically, and it takes longer for women to mature emotionally and become comfortable with their bodies(if they have low self esteem). As he ages, he may find that his thinking skills improve with age. Some women may find that as well. Typically being analytical is considered a male trait and being emotional is seen as a female trait. With that being said there are men and women of all ages who are immature or mature. Some of those men may be more on the emotional side and some of those women may be more on the analytical side like the female Med student I was talking with today.

I think what they mean (as a girl), is that we experience puberty earlier, get sexualized earlier (not saying that men/little boys aren't sexualized, but you get the point), and are forced to grow up earlier with expectations of beauty/makeup and maturity, when most boys at that age are concerned if they have enough deodorant. Of course, this isn't the case with ALL girls/boys, and even with these expectations, some girls don't really mature.

Yes and no, it really depends on what is viewed as being 'matured' combined with a bit of cultural bias.

Ultimately i would say that men and women mature around the same age at around 25.

What i'm talking about is the maturing of our brains, although a lot of our brains are developed at age of 18 they are not fully matured yet (about half way at 18 for the prefrontal cortex). This often results in young people taking greater risks, young people having difficulties with impulse control, planning, decision making, logical reasoning as their prefrontal cortex just isn't fully developed yet.

As the primary male hormone testosterone makes men more 'rowdy' they are often perceived as less mature. There is a plethora of examples of young men doing stupid shit just for the heck of it. This is something women do not have as bad, but at the same time women struggle more with their identity. This is also something that is regulated by the prefrontal cortex and will continue to develop by people in their 20's.

So while both genders mature at the same age, their immaturity manifests themselves in different ways.

This depends on how we define maturity. There is evidence to suggest that in academic environments, women generally have an easier time sitting still and listening for periods of time whereas men and boys need to be more active and physically engaged.

Unfortunately this is the primary way we measure maturity. Outside of this, we don't have a proper metric to say whether or not someone is mature because the growth models are controlled primarily by our educational system.

As a kid I was always told girls mature faster than boys. I'm 24 now and realize that's bullshit to an extent. Women's bodies mature faster I suppose, but men grow up, because we have to, much earlier than women. Girls don't have to work to gain value whereas men have to. Men are told to suck it up and deal with it and all that from the moment we're old enough to understand right from wrong. Women are treated like gold from a young age, being told they deserve a good man and blah blah blah, without being taught what a good man deserves in a good woman.

Physiologically, I believe the prefrontal cortex matures slightly faster in females but this is marginal. The prefrontal cortex is the structure of the brain most associated with executive function, social inhibition (the kind that stops you from screaming at someone for skipping ahead of you in the queue). It typically reaches full maturity around the age of 21.

In a way yes, it's quite a misunderstanding.

To say girls mature earlier is true when it comes to something like puberty, and because of ealier puberty more is explained to them earlier.

But boys often find sexuality as early as most girls, it's entirely social for boys, and always is even after puberty.

They go through puberty earlier so Yh they do mature earlier. I mean they kind of have too, women can only stay fertile for so long so their bodies need to prepare for reproduction asap. However I don’t believe that a full adult male is more immature than an adult women, he could be more mature. It’s just that one gets there earlier.

I studied early childhood development for a semester before switching paths.

In class, we were taught that men develop physically at a rapid pace, and because of that they aren’t as quick to develop cognitively/emotionally. In contrast, women first develop cognitively/emotionally, and then mature physically.

Never really believed that shit tbh. I’m pretty sure we developed physically and cognitively at the same time? Like all of that needs to happen in tandem. I marked the correct answers to pass, but always chopped this part up to be propaganda or something lbs. I’ve heard people talk about the idea before, but I thought it just an old wives tale or some kind of pseudoscience. I was surprised to hear it taught in class, with graphs and everything!😂😅

But generally, no, not really. Males have a reputation of goofing off, getting bored, antsy, and females tend to sit quietly and do as they're told. Its also one of the reasons why female teachers mark down boys.

I think it's more about what you've been through. Someone who's been through more shit in life will usually mature faster I don't think it has anything to do with gender. Could be wrong though.

I was always told as a kid that I was mature for my age but that's just one anecdotal example. Girls always seemed more immature to me when growing up but when I think back on it many boys did too.
