Among certain Evangelical circles, the belief persists that God will intervene if rape is 'rape-rape'; that is, if she was really forced to do it and wasn't actually enjoying it.

So, he probably believes this. To him, if you're not pregnant, you didn't really get raped because you consented in some way.

In other words, he's a fucking lunatic and makes me ashamed to be an American.

There actually was a concept of pregnancy "legitimizing" what was otherwise a rapacious sex act... in the Middle Ages, when it was believed that both men and women contributed a "seed" to the pregnancy. Strangely, women's seed, like men, could only be released through orgasm, leading to the widespread notion that if a woman was raped, she wouldn't orgasm, and therefore no pregnancy could occur. Obviously, if a pregnancy did occur, then she must have orgasmed, and consent would be implicit.

Nowadays, though, we aren't so stupid.

Considering we don't allow 13 year old boys who are raped by 39 year old women to escape their parental responsibilities, why should we allow it for women who are raped?

And let's not be coy here. The reason we allow abortion is to allow mothers to escape parental responsibility.
