I'm reading all the changes to the OP's sentence, but I still think I like his the best.

The words " ... notion that men can be hurt" is non-combative, yet forces the listener to consider the words. On reading it, I feel almost compelled to ask questions to clarify.

While some of the other replies are more direct, they're closed comments. My first thought is, "Well, of COURSE they're people, but...". It's too easy.

The biggest problem men face is the very notion that we are stronger than women and, thus, able to bear a much greater burden. The very first form of attack for men who don't follow feminism ideology is exactly their masculinity - that they are somehow lesser men.

I think the MR movement could do a lot worse than start by questioning the notion that we are all huge, tough, strong and determined manly men. I know that's counter-intuitive to many men, but the system is currently designed to use that drive for financial, social, physical and ideological independence against us.

Given the posters that ask whether or not men's rights are human rights and the sheer angry and invective directed at them, I would say 'mr is the unheard of idea that men are human beings too'.

It doesn't seem like many women like the idea of men not simply being meat bags with wallets.
