Mild Spoilers Ahead. One of the characters in this season, Albie di Grosso, is a tall, handsome Stanford grad who is on vacation with his grandfather and father in Sicily. He is so determined to be unlike his womanizing father comes off as timid and boring around women, including his love interest in the show Portia. He tells her that in his experience "women say they want a nice guy, but then they find one, they find them boring." There has been nothing in the show to indicate he is a Nice Guy as term has come mean in pop-culture. IE, he is not a guy creating covert contracts and expecting things in return. Rather he is being portrayed so far as a guy that is earnest and genuine in his efforts to be unlike his dad, is indeed boring to women, at least sexually. Even though Portia seems to want him to make a move, he awkwardly asks her permission to kiss her, then awkwardly says good night and leaves her standing at the door of her hotel room.

Despite all of this, most of the comments I have seen on reviews of the most recent episode are talking about all of his red flags and talking about his character as though he's a sex predator in waiting or violent incel. I'm not denying the existence of NiceGuys that are seethingly angry and resentful to women. They exist and they are a problem for everyone. But it seems to me that there are also nice guys, who for a variety of reasons, are just clueless about how to be sexual with women but aren't bad guys at all. In my experience this variety of nice guy is often derisively written off as a red-pill fiction.
