Parents overdose on heroin at a McDs with their kids in the play area. Mom gets 6k bond, Dad gets 10k bond AND ordered to stay away from his kids. Sure, they shouldn't be around the children, but why should the mother not get the same treatment? How is Mom on heroin any less dangerous than Dad?

He could have a criminal history, or the judge felt like he was more central to the misfortune of the family situation. Without the facts of the case, your answers cannot definitively be that the judge was anti-men.

There really isn't enough facts given to us to decide this. Others have stated that he was only the mother's boyfriend and had no relation to the kids. Some have guessed that he might have had past criminal behavior, though that shouldn't matter because they now have current criminal behavior.

This is still sorta an MR issue, but less of one than the title of this post indicated (not blaming you op. We just need more info). Regardless, the kids should be taken away from their mother. This is still an MR issue, because they are allowing the mother to keep custody of the children even though she put them in danger, just because she's their mother. She now has shown that she will abuse them. She should lose custody just like an abusive would.

Oh and also, why is her bond worth less?? Because she has a twat? I'd forgotten to mention this, and it definitely makes it a men's rights issue.

Title is hyberbole.

Both adults are being held. The stay away order is meaningless, as they're both locked up.

The man went before a judge. The woman did not.

Thus, the man had an opportunity to plead not guilty, the woman did not.

A judge also had the ability to add on additional penalties to the man, not the woman. (Yes, bail can be set without the individual actually being before the judge.)

I'm going to go out on a limb and say the difference is probably because she's in the hospital after having been found unconscious.

However, the papers need to get off the idea that "last name different = not the father". Jeez, it's 2014. There is no other proof or data presented that he's not the father.

According to the article, both parents are still in jail. Apparently neither can make bond. Since they have different last names it appears the parents are not married. The amount of bond set by a judge depends on a person's available assets and risk of not appearing for trial, not just the offense. So if mom has fewer assets and more community ties than dad, her bond will be for a lesser amount. These children are most definitely in the care of CPS. Neither parent is going to get them back any time soon, even assuming they get out of jail on bond.
