I love my fiance. We're getting married in June, and we are very happy. She does have some emotional/coping issues, however, for which she was in therapy. On christmas eve, I was in the hospital and while we were in the cafeteria waiting for my test results, she got really upset. Now, when she gets upset she will try to flee from her stressor (me) but her AND her therapist have told me that when that happens I should try to keep her close and get her to calm down.

Unfortunately, the cafeteria at the hospital is in view of the security section for the floor. An armed security officer came over to make sure that I wasn't hurting her or preventing her from leaving, and asked her if she felt safe. She was bewildered, and today I was finally healthy enough to explain to her that if she acts out in public and says I am 'abusing her' (she says abuse when she means I'm forcing her to confront painful feelings) loud enough for people to hear that I will be arrested even if she tells them not to, and that I can be charged without her consent and forced to stay away from her.

Edit: I keep having to clarify the same things over and over 1. My fiance wasn't trying to get other people's attention or draw in 'white knights'. 2. My fiance is in therapy and has been consistently showing progress in her coping. 3. We agree on behavior plans, I don't control her. 4. My fiance is afraid of police and mistrusts social workers and doesn't want to involve them in our life. 5. She is incapable of having a child. I know this for a fact, its not something she told me.

I'm not going into this blind, I'm a regular poster here and I know what can go wrong. This incident wasn't a regular occurrence, and one thing my fiance has shown that most of the women discussed here havn't is that she DOES change her behavior, she takes the initiative to improve herself, and she actually provides me with a lot of support. This isn't a one-sided relationship, she supported me through depression and health problems, and I support her. Our 'incident' actually started over her feeling guilty that she thought she had caused my medical condition, and I was trying to assure her that she hadn't and that I didn't blame her.
