First encounter with an all women's organization.

Counter-experience: I went to the local women's center (which identifies as a feminist organization) in order to meet with a staff member. The staff and volunteer staff - all women - were extremely pleasant, informative, and we stood around talking for awhile until I had to go. At no point did I feel demonized or hated.

This story is really strange to me.

I've worked in a medical care facility that uses lots of assistive devices for people. Most of the staff were women and they finagled and set up all kinds of wheel chairs, walkers and physical therapy devices every day.

A doctors office that didn't have anyone who can assist with a motorized scooter seems very odd.

I wish they would go all women all the way and only do business with other all-women organizations, get electricity from only women-only plants and all that.

For now they are just openly displaying their hate. If no one could see them doing that there would be no effect. I would bet they make sure everyone around them knows where they work. Or maybe they have some terrible past experiences with men? I would understand that.

Anyway - they probably have the right to do what they do. But good story anyway :)

What a wonderful example of how men enable women's existence with little to no thanks in return. What would have happened if you had said "No, I'm not comfortable going into an all-women's clinic" and just left that poor old woman stuck??

If it had been me, I would have responded to all the hateful glares with "That's right I'm a man! BOOGIDYBOOGIDYBOOGIDY!!"

Seriously, that has to be the single most depressing way to live. You should not feel anything but sympathy for these women, for they are the ones who actually have to live this way. You just got to witness it briefly.

Maybe the doctors closed their doors because their patients were highly uncomfortable around men and the doctors have a priority to help their patients.

Furthermore, I don't get your story at all. Why did no-one help that woman? She was in a woman's centre, presumably either as staff or as a patient, so it doesn't make sense that no-one would help her, especially if she was a patient.

The whole story smells of misogynist BS. Because the implication here is either

1) Woman are incompetent and need men!

or

2) Women are callous and heartless man-haters with nothing but contempt for fellow humans!

Except, there is one scenario that makes sense, where you didn't tell the woman about that emergency lever. In that scenario she couldn't get help from the staff/patients because no-one knew, she had to call you, you refused to tell her over the phone (so she still couldn't ask for help), and you insisted on walking over.

You went in, the doctors shut their doors (to protect their patients who may have survived traumas that resulted in them being triggered by men (it is a "safe space") after all), and pulled the lever.

That situation is the only one that makes sense as far as I can figure out, and it just paints you as a douche.

So are you a douche or a liar?
