I have two children 14 and 15 both live with their Mother in another state about 800 miles away. So obviously I only get to see the kids during Christmas, Summer and sometimes Spring Break. Amazingly enough my ex and I have a fairly decent relationship. My biggest concern has always been that none of my child support goes to the kids. I still end up paying for haircuts, clothes, school pictures, field trips. You name it I get it. That might be my dumbnesss, but I am not going to deny the kids.

So long story short, we have decided that my daughter is going to move up to my area and finish high school while living with me. Very excited about this. I can't wait. So now I have one child my ex has another. One would think we should cancel each other out. Ha, not at all. Since my ex does not have a job and no income. I still end up owing here around $500 per month. What do I get for my daughter, zilch. I was simply amazed by this.

I guess that I should not of been surprised after all. It is the state getting involved. So hear is the real kicker that amazed me.

If I am unemployed the state still expects me to pay a reasonable amount based on my education and previous job experience. So even if I had no job, I would have to pay. My ex can be unemployed and it's ok, she doesn't have a minimum that she has to pay.

Also a few years ago when she wanted the amount raised. They jumped right in had a hearing and bammo raise. Why even have the hearing? Yet when I had to change jobs and made half of what I was making when it was raised, the state found insufficient evidence to hold a new hearing.

Sorry guys, just venting.
