I have seen this post more than a few times floating around the feminist forums, and thought that while it may have been accurate in the 60s and 70s, we needed to update it for today's standards:
Man: I would like to report a mugging. I was drunk running around the street flashing my money around and someone stole it, by which I mean I gave it to them, and later regretted it. What sort of world is this where a man can't even run around drunk flashing all of his cash and become a victim of unwanted attention?
Officer: You are very brave for coming forward. If you were drunk and driving, you would be arrested, but since you were just drunk and stupid, you're a poor helpless victim. What monster could have done this to you?
Man: His name is Joe Smith.
Officer: Well, we will go to his place of employment and very loudly announce that he is under arrest for such a terrible crime. He will probably lose his job just due to the accusation. If he is well known, even though he has not yet been tried, we will plaster his face over all newspapers and news channels. Luckily our society is one which no longer believes that "innocent until proven guilty" hogwash, we now have a "let's hang him just to be safe" approach to crime. He will probably receive death threats, abuse from strangers in public, and may even be forced to move over this allegation.
Man: Wow, that is great for revenge. What about the trial?
Office: Even though we have no evidence other than your accusation, we will charge him, as no further evidence is needed thanks to new laws. If he takes it to trial, he will probably spend the rest of his life in prison, and will be the brunt of abuse of other inmates. Most likely however, the 25 year sentence will scare him enough that he will plead out. He will be in prison for 10-15 years, then when he get out and be on a public registry. If he has children he may never see them again. He will forever be ridiculed by the public and in a sense be a pariah.
Man: And if after he has spent 7 years in prison, you find out I lied?
Officer: We will sentence you to a year probation. We will try to keep it quiet, otherwise other mugging victims may not come forward. He may or may not be released. It helps us if he's not because now our D.A. and police department can run around and show everyone that we're doing a great job getting another violent, misanthropic criminal off of the street. It's win win for everyone, and if he complains about how his life is ruined, he should just man up and get over it.
Man: Oh no! But what happens if I want to report another mugging after you find out I have been lying?
Officer: Thanks to mugging shield laws, it can never be brought up at trial, you can put as many men in prison as you like.
Man: Well, if that's the case, then I want to report another mugging. Bob Johnson, the cab driver, had mugged me a few nights ago. I know that he had me arrested because I had taken the ride and didn't have any money to pay him, but it was really because he mugged me.
Officer: We will drop all charges against you and arrest Bob Johnson immediately.

Hmm, what I was more aiming for was an "I was drunk and had sex now I regret it, so he's a rapist attitude". Maybe I should word that better, but IMHO, if you are accountable when you drink and drive and kill someone, you are also accountable when you drink and fuck someone.

Oh, I hadn't read that before, I assumed you were referring to the OP's "I was drunk running around the street flashing my money around." My mistake.

False accusations don't invalidate victims: they create more victims.

Then why can't I just get drunk, give money to charity, then regret it?
Edit: I mean, with his red suit and bell, I was just under sooo much pressure to give, but once I made it to the store, I look back with regret.

Technically, you can be raped without violence. It's called "Rophynol", or "Roofies".

Here's the thing:
You don't really understand what is actually a thing here.
Rape investigations are a pain to do and hardly ever pan out, purely because of the lack of evidence.
The issue with the news is less a rape issue and more a general issue. Hell, look at Casey Anthony. It was publicized, and nobody believed she didn't do it, despite her getting off innocent.
The whole exchange about drunk driving and drunk sex/giving away money is quite flawed. Drunk Driving you do yourself. You go, and you crash into something. You could have hurt someone else, who knows. With drunken sex/rape, or giving away money, you have someone else taking advantage of you because you are drunk and therefore doing things you might not do normally.

Rape trials legally need no corroborating evidence, just the word of the accuser. Legally, nothing more than an accusation is needed to convict someone. Real life isn't Law and Order SVU, real live is police gather a report then charge someone.
It is somewhat a general issue, however, it is an issue none the less. It is also somewhat a men's issue, as recently when bills came forward that would grant accused men anonymity until after conviction, feminist fought hard against it and got it killed.
There is no flaw in the logic. If I drink and do something stupid (that I would not have done sober), then I should be held accountable, be it driving and killing someone, or fucking someone that I didn't like.

Actually you can blame feminism.
What group of people made the burden of proof absurdly low for rape cases? Feminist.
What group of people promoted the entire "always believe the accuser"? Feminist
What group of people are trying to deny, ignore, and cover up false rape accusations? Feminist
This isn't a case of "hating women", if a woman (or man), is forced to perform any type of sex act against their will, then by all means, the person who perpetrated this needs to be locked away.
All I am saying is we need to return to an "innocent until proven guilty" attitude. If its a case of he said/she said, then there is obviously reasonable doubt, it shouldn't go to trial to see who is more believable.
This is a rebuttal to the previous post mentioned, that says that women are not believed in cases of rape accusation. This is the reality that many innocent lives are destroyed when rape accusers are believed with no corroborating evidence. This is the reality that false rape accusers are never punished harshly or taken seriously. And this is the reality that police, D.A.'s, and politicians earn bonus points with destroying these innocent lives, all thanks to a feminist society that considers men inherently evil, violent, and needing to be taught "how not to rape"
