About two years ago I was in my third year of my psychology undergrad having beers with two of my friends and one of my friends friend. (Basically two people I know and one loosely connected random).

The topic got onto abortion and this girl who had seemed nice enough at the beginning said as soon as I opened my mouth, "Shut up, I don't care what you have to say because you're a man and your opinion doesn't matter." It's important to know I didn't actually really disagree with what she was saying.

I think man hating is perpetuated in a degree like mine (mostly women) because when you learn about the history of women and institutions like uni, when there are no men around it's easy to think they're evil. Socialise with the right amount of men and women and you realise most people are friendly, well intentioned, and normal (far from evil).

Anyway my response to this girl was, "why?" Quite simple and civil I think. Her immediate response was, "because men are trash."

I had one of my female friends immediately interject and begin defending men. But how can one possibly think that close to 50% of the population is trash? How can one think that men, who do have a stake in reproduction, can't talk about abortion? How can one think that a man who might be a leading expert in women's health shouldn't be able to speak on the topic of abortion. That isn't progress. It is sexist.

It's crazy how radical leftists are basically radical rights in behaviour, severe segregation and blatant sexism.
