It looks to me like no one stepped in when she hit him, and when he first fought back, no one stepped in either. When he kept going with her back against the wall people finally stepped in. Seems fair to me, it stopped becoming self defense.

Edit: People seem to be misunderstanding me for some reason. If someone is pinned against a wall being wailed on, it is not a fight anymore, it is a beating. Are these the same type of people that think it's okay for police officers to keep bashing people on the ground with nightsticks until they fall unconscious or just fucking die? Bystanders should be stepping in to try and stop it and that would happen a lot of the time even if it was a man vs man fight.
