They believed a mans word. They believed that woman are crazy, emotional and have breakdowns for no reason. They believed that a simple separation will calm the woman down and fix things. Their beliefs killed a woman.
Witnesses saw him abuse her and called the police to protect her, instead they gaslit her further and cost her, her life.
When this man went back to his family without her, he was protected and was able to keep silent on her whereabouts. Instead of contacting the police, his parents enabled him. When Gabby’s family demanded her whereabouts, they received nothing but hinderance from him and his family. When her family contacted the police, he became a person of interest but was able to go missing. Where is the justice for Gabby? A 22 year old woman lost her life due to abuse, incompetence, and enablers.
This whole thing breaks my heart and my sympathies and prays go out for Gabby’s family.

Very well said. I've been following this case a lot since I found out about it because of all of the reasons you stated, it troubles me a lot. Also because he reminds me a lot of Chris Watts and my ex. They all have the same slant, dark squinted eyes and evil and weirdly similar physiques. It's like psychopaths all have the same eyes or something, it's troubling. I also feel like I am just waiting for him to be found and charged because currently there is so much injustice in the case. I have felt angry seeing all these horrible ignorant comments saying she was crazy, idiots who are totally dumb and clueless about recognising the very obvious signs of someone in an abusive relationship. There were loads of red flags in that police video alone yet the stupid police sided with the man and sent her off to her death. I hate the way the police just let him go, the way his family are acting dumb and protecting him, and how he was just allowed to return home in her van without her and apparently that was fine and him or his family didn't even report her missing. I really hope justice is served.

Her father stated that she had never been diagnosed with OCD. That was some bullshit that nasty ass, barefooted Brian came up with whenever she’d try to clean up the van or complained about him putting his gross bare feet all over. He was weirdly proud of his bare, filthy feet. 🤮 Instead of trying to wash himself like a normal human or at least try to be easier to live with, he labeled her as OCD. 🚩🚩🚩
I’m sure her anxiety problem was nonexistent or minimal before he showed up in her life, too.
Remember, everyone: Any man who calls a woman “crazy,” or “OCD” would rather her be the one with the problem than work on himself.
RIP, Gabby.

I feel like crying reading this. Nobody, nobody, would ever believe a woman when she drags herself to the police looking for help. Nobody will believe a woman getting help for herself, because in their eyes, "if she can still walk and talk then she's fine". "She's just overreacting". "She's lying to get attention". "She's crazy and manipulative and is trying to frame her boyfriend". "She needs to calm down". They will, only then, believe her when she's left a lifeless body on the ground.
May you rest in peace, Gabby. And praying for all the other women out there to find a place of safety finally. My heart goes out to you.

I should also mention he almost killed me wrecking his car. We had been broken up and were going out to talk and somehow got on the subject of how I had slept with someone while we were broken up. He hit his fists on the steering wheel and lost control of the car, it was headed for the median and it took him a few seconds to actually gain control of the car again “because he was so mad”

The thing is some people don't even believe her even when her death has now been ruled a homicide.
The YT comments section of the dashcam vid is still full of men saying she's the abusive one and that if "she had been arrested like she was supposed to she wouldn't be dead." Or just calling her a horrible person in general.
[–]MagnfiqueMaleficentFDS Disciple 48 points49 points50 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
The real question is what if the cops pulled their heads out of they’re asses and recognized who the real victim and the real abuser was and arrested him.
All they would’ve had to do was listen to the 911 caller who clearly stated that HE was abusing her. Or see that you don’t smile and laugh the way Brian did when you’re being victimized.
And they should’ve noted that he admitted to trying to take off without her in her own van. Her grabbing at him while he tried to drive away was completely appropriate. I wouldn’t just stand there idly while someone took off in my car, either.

Yep, those comments are absolutely disgusting. The ignorance and denialism around the domestic abuse that women experience is just so depressing.
[–]TieDieEyeFDS Newbie 10 points11 points12 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
They literally know but they hate women so they want the abuse and suffering to go unnoticed so it can continue on a mass scale.
Misogynists are genuinely horrible people and it's unfortunate that they hold so much power in society.
I suppose it's the misogyny that gives it to them to begin with because it allows them to have the upper hand over half the population by default. They have it pretty great and all they have to do is stomp us down once and awhile to maintain their benefits.

I’ve had that happen to me before. It was my then off and on boyfriend in high school. He scared me a lot because he would always come close to hitting me (balling his fists up when he would get mad) there was one night I went to the police because I was afraid he was gonna show up at a Halloween party I was going to and their legit response was “well don’t you think you shouldn’t go to the party?” Like yes, I should have to give up my entire social life and be afraid of this dude for the rest of my life. sarcasm I was young and stupid for continue to date him but I got away eventually. Funny thing is, he’s a cop now.

The domestic abuse rate amongst the police is... scary.
[–]Classic-Owl3417 1 point2 points3 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Actually, this is NOT funny. You think he isn't going to use his "power" to abuse any woman he comes into contact with? Ugh.
[–]aquietswordFDS Newbie 235 points236 points237 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
And honestly, fuck those useless cops. The red flags were there, but I guess it's better to robotically quote the definition of DV and pretend that scratching in self defence is the same as abuse than it is to use the critical thinking skills you don't have.

it’s so scary and heartbreaking. the fact that gabby’s male partner (brian laundry) still hasn’t been arrested when its PAINFULLY obvious he killed her, is outrageous.
also the cops that almost arrested gabby when she did nothing wrong and laughed with brian about how “women are so anxious and crazy” these cops need to be help accountable. gabby’s death is partially on their hand, she was crying and was on obviously very shaken up/ distressed, yet they totally wrote it off as her being anxious for no reason.

Heartbroken. 😥 I think it captured the world's attention partially because so many women knew she was suffering abuse and could relate to that...is there a woman alive who hasn't suffered a man's abuse?? "There, but for the grace of God, go I". RIP Gabby, my heart is with you. p.s. FYI, some folks on Twitter are doing a #LightsOnForGabby by keeping a north-facing porch light on in tribute

Every single day I get more upset at Brian being MIA. I hope that if (hopefully WHEN) he is found, he can be linked to the crime. He should never get away with this.

Sadly, the odds are good that that spineless scrote will off himself like the coward he is.

My only solace is imagining him slinking around gator infested wetlands miserable and on the the run. If that really was him on the wildlife camera and he's not chilling in Mexico...

He reminds me so much of my first long term boyfriend when I was a teenager. Together for years since we were 14 and didn't manage to shake him off until I was about 22.
Watching him talk to the cops and her in bits struck a chord. Especially when on the dashcam footage he states that he was (paraphrasing) trying to remind her they were in public and not to make a fuss.
My ex used to whisper absolutely horrible stuff in my ear and then when I used to raise my voice at him to try to get him to stop he used to smirk and be like "look everyone's watching now"
This was probably one of the worst things he ever did tbh. Crazy making behaviour.
I really empathise with Gabby. I remember being there. It has really made me want to do more helpful things for women who are stuck in abusive relationships. Heartbreaking.

This and countless other cases are morbid reminders that what we do here at FDS means life and death. If she was just given the tools to cut this murderer out, a life could have been spared. I'm spreading the gospel about FDS.

22 years old. She should’ve had another 60. I hate hate HATE how this ended. The police failed her because of misogyny, how many women are supposedly going around falsely claiming men are abusive? They’re acting like it’s an epidemic to excuse their refusal to help women, like women are the ones murdering their partners.

Those officers need to be in prison. They knew what was happening
