Hahaha

Very few and archaic workplaces ban beards. That's 1950's corporate policy. A regression.

[–]BrokeMacMountain[S] 70 points71 points72 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

As this only applies to boys, they might as well ban Lynx Africa too lol.

But seriously, if they want to ban facial hair, they then need to ban makeup as well. (but good luck with that one!)

[–]mgtowolf 2 points3 points4 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Really? Every job I have had required clean shaving and short hair, for men at least. No one dared tell helga to shave her mustachio of course. I was pretty happy once I got out of high school and could ditch that job BS and not be treated as if some scumball boss owned me.

[–]18Apollo18 1 point2 points3 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Really? Every job I have had required clean shaving and short hair, for men at least.

Well that's illegal. Both freedom of religion and more recently freedom of gender expression are legal protected in the work place

Very few and archaic workplaces ban beards

Where are you looking, I know of TONS of work places with beard bans.

  • Rochette

  • Shell/Exxon/EVERY refinery and probably most off-shore rigs. Respirators don't work with beards. Do you want to have your beard to die.

  • Pharmaceutical/Medical - Anyone that has to wear a respirator or breathing air. Again, do you want to die or kill your patient?

  • Food Plants

Nowhere near a 1950s policy, all very legitimate reasons and current policies.

Edit: Some more:

  • Machine shops or any production company that has rotating equipment (can't have long hair, head or facial, men or women). Again, do you want to die?

[–]Maldevinine 22 points23 points24 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

There is however a difference in that they're not banning styles of physical appearance for appearance reasons, they're doing it for safety reasons.

Incidentally, from my work in underground mining I have discovered that I can get a neatly trimmed goatee or soul patch to fit completely under the respirators.

[–]ChadWolf98 1 point2 points3 points 4 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link

In a university you don't have to wear a respirator.

Yes, and some workplaces ban long hair, so?

Ban due to safety reason vs ban due to ideology is rather different.

Next time you gotta dress as Bob the Builder in university because some people have to wear safety helmets at work lol

[+]toss11221 points 4 years ago [recovered] (4 children) | Copy Link

In a university you don't have to wear a respirator.

Yes, some graduate students do, they have labs that require it. Also, the maintenance guy that services the chillers has to wear one, along with all the medical people at the teaching hospital, etc.

Yes, and some workplaces ban long hair, so?

So, this is a private school, so why is it news that a private entity bans certain appearances that everyone can conform to (i.e. not legal discrimination).

[–]ChadWolf98 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

Again, where? Where it is needed for safety. Someone studying pilosophy in a classroom with like 0 lab courses doesnt need one.

>> So, this is a private school, so why is it news that a private entity bans certain appearances that everyone can conform to (i.e. not legal discrimination).

If the school banned ot after anyone signed a contract, they made an unilateral change in a contract. Which is problematic.

Also they have a religious exception. Kinda tiring to force people to fake a religion if they dont want to conform to idiotic policies. Also I disagree with the notion that private entities that are open to public can trample the Constitution just because they are "private" (yet access to the general public is fully open)

What's your opinion on it?

[+]toss11221 points 4 years ago [recovered] (2 children) | Copy Link

Also I disagree with the notion that private entities that are open to public can trample the Constitution just because they are "private" (yet access to the general public is fully open)

I disagree here. What is next, forcing me to grow a beard? Forcing my business to serve someone that hasn't bathed in 90 days and will damage my property with their filth. Every private company violates the constitution, Reddit isn't free speech, per you logic companies could have no rules beyond the law. That is just stupid that would make society even worse as then as we would have idiots trying to make laws for everything.

If the school banned ot after anyone signed a contract, they made an unilateral change in a contract. Which is problematic.

I agree, if it was enacted after signing contracts, that would be a breach of contract. But if it was enacted prior to signing of the contracts for the year then, no they have that right.

Again, where? Where it is needed for safety.

I listed all of them:

Yes, some graduate students do, they have labs that require it. Also, the maintenance guy that services the chillers has to wear one, along with all the medical people at the teaching hospital, etc.

.

Someone studying pilosophy

Last I checked to get a degree these people will have to take some science labs to graduate.

What's your opinion on it?

Private company/entity. They can make whatever rules they want, especially where there is a public entity that can service you. In this case parents can send their kids to private school (follow those rules) or public school in this area. Since the general public option exists where people can get the service then a competing private should be allowed any rules.

The only time we should consider requiring the private entity to change their rules is when no alternative exists. If this is the only school within 100 miles then I get your point on they are "open to the public". But this is the whole spectrum of government regulation versus freedom. A bit ironic that you want the freedom to have a beard, but want to limit another group of people's freedom to create a space where beards aren't allowed.

[–]ChadWolf98 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

>> A bit ironic that you want the freedom to have a beard, but want to limit another group of people's freedom to create a space where beards aren't allowed.

Exactly. My first amendment rights in a public space (yes, for me it becomes public when it is generally open to public) trumps their right to mandate some archaic dress code. The Constitution and my first amendment rights doesnt end at the university door.

But fine, then every student who cannot continue his degree due to this rule change should get a full refund. Fine by me

Oh if we are already here I recommend Catholic universities mandate an abortion pass where they can fire female students who had an abortion, since its against their religious beliefs to get one.

Not to mention, there are already laws on this that some groups cannot be discriminated against. Like you cannot do it based on race or religion despite being a "private" business.

So then do every student with beard who want to keep it have to recognise themselves as Muslim or Orthodox Jewish? Because religion is a protected class.

[–]wootangAlpha 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

I dont know what you school you went to but my school administration operated on a corporate policy on top of the government mandated policy on what is acceptable and what is not. None of the dress code rules ever had anything to do with safety concerns. More the concerns of vague morality pressed on by the teaching staff and school governing body.

[+]toss11221 points 4 years ago [recovered] (2 children) | Copy Link

So the article is about a private school and honestly I think the parents/administration are preparing boys to be men with such a policy. Just like how prep schools make the boys wear ties, to get them comfortable/used to wearing a tie everyday, as that is the corporate dress code of high paid workers.

Policy at schools never will have logic. It is about preparing people for the future. Preparing boys to accept that as men a significant number of jobs won't allow beards is an important lesson, as you can see in my list of places that it is required due to safety reasons. The habits we learn when young tend to last a lifetime.

concerns of vague morality pressed on by the teaching staff and school governing body.

I get that is an underlying reason, but again, wealthy parents know that sometimes you fight to change society, other times you learn to conform as they would rather their kid be the CEO without a beard versus the jobless dude with a beard.

[–]wootangAlpha 1 point2 points3 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

jobless dude with a beard.

This here is the summarised version of our discussion. Having a beard was seen as a low-class thing - poor trash who cant afford a clean shave everyday.

Like I said 1950s corporate policy

Society has advanced to the point where there are people fighting for 7 year olds to have a sex change, take hormones and identify as a cricket but we are willing to die on the hill that men need to shave and chop off the foreskin on their penis?

[–]Glum-Pen-728 5 points6 points7 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Beards are common in societies of polygamy where intra-male competition for women is extremely high.

Thats why we've seen them come back into fashion. No more enforced monogamy.

On the other hand, having to sit next to a bunch of tarts with midriff-less shirts that show their bra straps while they're in booty shorts like they're trying to pick up a "john" at midnight downtown is annoying as fuck.

These guys should resist it and point to "her" dress choices.

[–]aigars2 57 points58 points59 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

This is textbook sexism.

[–]Disastrous_Ice_5073 45 points46 points47 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Masculinity toxic, men grow beards, so cancel beards. These tyrants only respond to lead.

[–]xdzgor 46 points47 points48 points 4 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

Ridiculous to ban facial hair at all, but I hope at least the ban is enforced on all genders - got to get those women scraping off their upper-lip hair.

[–]timeslider 4 points5 points6 points 4 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

When I was in the Army, I watched as my NCO yelled at a girl for upper-lip hair. She wasn't well-liked and I think he did it to be funny but it was really unprofessional and you could tell she was embarrassed.

[–]LondonDude123 25 points26 points27 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Would your NCO have chewed out a man for facial hair?

If yes, thats called a standard, and its equality to hold everybody to that standard. Nothing unprofessional there...

[–]Infovore777 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

BOth of y'all don't know that the point of drill sargeants is to brain wash you into an army cult zombie who follows orders blindly. You are supposed to feel like shit and be dehumanized and made to seem lower than dirt. That's the whole point is to make y'all feel like shit.
It is by design.

[–]Largedragon666 12 points13 points14 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Im ugly without it so i'll rather get shot.

[–]WingsofSky 13 points14 points15 points 4 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

Instead of going after the policy. Get the idiot f headmaster removed.

So teens have a little facial hair, how is that against any common sense rule?

[–]Glum-Pen-728 4 points5 points6 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Instead of that, argue that since women get to wear revealing clothing on campus, then men get to wear beards. A dress code should be enforced for everyone or not at all.

[–]WingsofSky 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

The women wearing those revealing clothes have probably complained enough to get the rules changed for them.

[–]curseddraw 8 points9 points10 points 4 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

Its the same in my school, except its all boys, and also no hair beneath the collar.

[–]mgtowolf 4 points5 points6 points 4 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

Wait what? Your school makes you guys shave off all your body hairs?

[–]BlakBeret 3 points4 points5 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Means hair length, guys can't have long hair.

This was the norm for public schools all over where I grew up. No facial hair, hair couldn't touch the collar, etc.

[–]mgtowolf 4 points5 points6 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Oh haha I am a dumbass. I was like WTF. Yeah, most schools and even jobs were like that in NY too. Was such bullshit. Even dress codes was more lax and lenient for girls.

[–]GeneralGoldy 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Bro I had that rule too you see I have long ass dreadlocks that go down to the middle of my spine and even lower those bastards told me to cut my hair of course I didn't cut it because I spent years growing my hair.

[–]TelephoneTime8244 8 points9 points10 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

So sad nowdays having a beard or mustache that you have pride on its not allowed I feel super sorry

[–]Ren_Yi 7 points8 points9 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

It's a Catholic school... do they not realise even Jesus had a beard!

[–]Stephen_Morgan 6 points7 points8 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

They allow it for religious reasons, for anyone wondering what would happen with Muslim kids.

[–]jessi387 5 points6 points7 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

What a joke. Maybe they should ban makeup also ??

[–]Njall 14 points15 points16 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Obviously a blatant effort to keep younger men looking like boys to keep the priests happy.

[–]Starmind0 5 points6 points7 points 4 years ago (19 children) | Copy Link

So boys can't act feminine, wear make up, have long hair, polish their nails, wear dresses, and now can't have beards. Meanwhile feminists are whining about the "dress code".

[–]beaniebev -1 points0 points1 point 4 years ago (18 children) | Copy Link

real feminists encourage men to express themselves in any way which makes them happy and discourages the judgement of them for not falling under a “masculine” outline, and this is a part of dress code that can be “whined about” just like telling girls they have to cover their shoulders or knees “out of consideration of male classmates”

[–]Starmind0 2 points3 points4 points 4 years ago (17 children) | Copy Link

"Real feminists" displayed crystal clear misandry, so spare me the "those aren't real feminists" bs. And the whole "consideration of male classmates" is nothing but lies. First off, when girls are told to not reveal their shoulders or knees it's out of decency and the school's own rules, not really "because of male classmates". And even the ones who say it's because of male classmates aren't serious about that, it's a tactic to make those girls feel better about not revealing their shoulders or knees by saying bs like "ugh those boys might act like animals if you wear that!" indicating that they are the problem. Oh, and I much rather not reveal my shoulder or knees over getting expelled for using nail polish which happened to a boy recently. Didn't see any feminist talk about that.

[–]beaniebev 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

its really awful that a boy was sent home over wearing nail polish, and thats sexist. but its also sexist to say women cant wear tank tops because theyre considered “revealing”- and most dress codes read that they exist as an effort to make the learning environment a distraction free, safe space. teachers dont get to tell girls that they need to dress modestly, and they dont get to tell boys to dress more masculine. idk why you think im fighting you on that im j saying that youre bashing womens efforts to gain access to expression through dress while encouraging mens access to expression through dress lmao why cant they both exist ?? thats hypocrisy 🤷‍♂️

[–]Starmind0 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

I'm "fighting you" cause you're defending feminists. And I never said girls shouldn't wear those clothes, I just gave the actual reasons schools have those rules, while the reasons they have for limiting what boys do is purely out of sexism.

[–]beaniebev -1 points0 points1 point 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

and i just told you that all these schools say that thats not the reason that the dress codes exist- your speculation doesnt hold stronger than the text that students post to expose the sexism in their dress codes. this is a private school which requires its female students to wear skirts- that is also sexist to say that it breaks dress code to wear pants instead for them, but youre adamant about your belief that women cannot possibly be discriminated against if men are being discriminated against in this way. im saying they BOTH happen

[–]Starmind0 1 point2 points3 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

When did I say women can't be discriminated against? I expected nothing less tho, a typical feminist.

[–]beaniebev 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (12 children) | Copy Link

and i say real feminists because i see so many that are doing this work- encouraging queer men to express themselves and providing safe spaces for that expression. like @impact on instagram is an activism account which posts feminist values by providing a platform to get simone biles’ opening statement put out to a broad audience, AND by posting affirmations and actions that can be taken to ensure men can exist in an environment free of toxic masculinity and cookie cutter molds. when i say real feminists fight for mens rights too, its cus there are some feminists who actually do and work for both sides to gain social and economic equality

[–]Starmind0 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (10 children) | Copy Link

Because that's all those misandrists can do to fake supporting men, a post. Not actually protesting or advocating. Taking a look at history of feminism, they clearly protested AGAINST men and their rights. They said tons of misandristic bs. They acted like it. Take your "toxic masculinity" bs and leave.

[–]beaniebev -2 points-1 points0 points 4 years ago (9 children) | Copy Link

toxic masculinity is the enforcement of typically masculine traits onto men idk why youre so triggered by that term. its literally the term to describe the discrimination youre talking about 😂

[–]Starmind0 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (8 children) | Copy Link

No honey, it's your misandristic terms to blame men for their issues. Do you say "toxic good"? No, it's called bad, but your body is itching to scream misandristic bullshit. Let me correct it for you: It's called sexism against men. Misandry. Discrimination. Not your disgusting feminist terms.

[–]beaniebev -2 points-1 points0 points 4 years ago (7 children) | Copy Link

toxic masculinity is the “man up” “dont be such a little girl” mentality- often perpetuated by fathers and other male authority figures. its not to say that masculinity is toxic as a whole, but the enforcement of in unto men is the toxic aspect. why is that so evil to say that men deserve to have freedom from masculinity if they so please ??

[–]Starmind0 1 point2 points3 points 4 years ago (6 children) | Copy Link

No, that's called sexism against men and utter misandry. And it's done by almost everyone in society, but of course your feminist self have to claim it's done by fathers and male figures. You just talked about sexism against women in schools, and yet you never called it toxic femininity. Honey, no one's buying your disgusting misandry. Off you go out of this sub. Creeping here and pretending you care won't earn you internet points.

[–]beaniebev -2 points-1 points0 points 4 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link

toxic masculinity is the term to describe the sexism perpetuated by male authoritative figures. misandry is the term to describe sexism that most often comes from females. you just automatically believe feminists are in the wrong when their are so many who are putting in the work that you will blatantly ignore - i told you about news outlets posting stories about simone biles’ statement, as well as stories about Lil Nas X’s struggles with bullying and abuse surrounding his sexuality; providing the SAME platform for EQUAL action from their viewers: changing a mindset. if i was telling you about a source that was exclusively raising money for feminist organizations focused on providing resources for say, battered women or abortion access, then id be providing you with a source that takes no action for ONLY men, which is not the case. i provided you with a source making an equal effort to change the mindset that perpetuates sexism against both men AND women. sexism=discrimination based on sex misandry=a hatred or bias against men toxic masculinity=sexism against men perpetuated by men masculinity=the general societal standards which are associated with men and the role historically expected of them toxic masculinity isnt a “bad term” you just believe it to be- and for why, idk 🤷‍♂️ but i, and all the men in my life see how men have perpetuated the stereotypes that hurt men long term. that doesnt mean sexism from women doesnt exist, its just focusing on the sexism that men perpetrate against other men, hurting each other in that way.

[–]Starmind02 points 4 years ago [recovered] | Copy Link

No, it's called sexism but you just had to link it to masculinity and male figures. Who said misandry is specifically sexism by females? Shitting even more definitions? "Toxic masculinity" is a shitty misandristic term by feminists because they would piss themselves to spell sexism against men or misandry. And again, talking about sexism against men in one post, which is always either about boys crying or femininity, is not actually caring about men. They protested for women, made petitions, donated, and made whole accounts to fight all women's issues as well as take away from men and give more power to women. But somehow saying "oh yes boys do cry!" equals all of what they did for women? Nope. All the definitions you mentioned are correct except for toxic masculinity, nor does it's true definition even matter. You're clearly a women-worshipping misandristic white knight who loves to "fight for men" selectively and in a patronizing way. I bet you love MensLib. Crawl back there, misandrist.

[–]beaniebev-1 point 4 years ago [recovered] | Copy Link

i gave you ONE source, youre talking about the actions of dozens of OTHER sources

[–]Starmind01 point 4 years ago [recovered] | Copy Link

I see no relevance.

[–]beaniebev0 points 4 years ago [recovered] | Copy Link

i said that this is a source which is making an effort to represent mens issues at a proportional magnitude as womens issues- and youre talking about all these sources that dont fit the definition of feminist- as im trying to explain to you. there are real feminist sources that ARE fighting for mens rights, THATS what ive been saying. thats relevant 😂

Good for you, it doesn't change anything. You're still defending feminism and clearly praising their disgusting terms, so no wonder that you're trying to squeeze in "the good apples". The movement's literal leaders and founders are misandristic. Deal with it.

[–]j0k3ricu 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Both issues where highlighted because it was against men. Right fully so. Lil Nas X is a perfect internet Pied Piper, he the feminist with zero effort.

But, he was asking about real men's rights issues, where the perpetrators are women, society, law or Feminist, not men.

You couldn't even come up with one legitimate case.

Reminds me of basic training where males had to shave every day but females didn't, and there is always one female with a mustache and the male Drill Sergeants are unsure what to do about it.

[–]McFeely_Smackup 8 points9 points10 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

The double standards for women in the military is a fundamental cause of female soldiers being taken less seriously than their male counterparts.

It creates an impression of soldiers, and people playing soldier.

The boys just need to say they identify as female and boom, problem solved.

[–]Infovore777 -1 points0 points1 point 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Yep. The flood gates have been open. The bird is out of the box so to speak. Now they cannot enforce any rules. Just claim you're a trans islamist and keep live free

[–]Coucoupietre 6 points7 points8 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Try to force males into feminization

[–]SolidMercer 1 point2 points3 points 4 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

If they banned women for having boobs that would be misogyny 🙄

[–]beaniebev 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

girls with bigger chests are discriminated against in that way all the time. theyre not allowed to wear tops that smaller chested girls are welcomed to wear… theyre both sexism idk why you think they cant both exist ??

[–]SolidMercer 1 point2 points3 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Because literally the world hates men but worships women

[–]Ok_Plankton248479 1 point2 points3 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

"The youngsters.. " lol. They're not youngsters if they have facial hair. It's a reasonable restriction if it is causing problems with violence.

[–]Jethr0Paladin 1 point2 points3 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

The priests can't find the boys attractive unless they're babyfaced.

[–]BrokeMacMountain[S] 1 point2 points3 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

lmao!

Welcome to indian style schooling bro It's been here like forever

[–]Bitch_I-Eat_People 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Dude this has been happening in my country (India) for decades when I was in high school every few months the principal (some catholic lady) would announce a surprise check up to see if male student had facial hair or long hair.

If we did they would round us up like sheeps and take us to o the barber shops and get us buzz cuts

This was a richer end school in the city, not sure if it's that bad in other cities.

[–]Fario21 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Same here in South India . It's not a Catholic school but a RSS school. The V.P hates to see guys having facial hair. She will literally plug hair of boys for punishment. Luckily she was shifted to other branch.

[–]Romanian_TVee 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Whack on a Mjölnir necklace, claim you are an Odinist and boom- you have facial hair due to your religion

[–]j0k3ricu 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (8 children) | Copy Link

If they had rules for girls, like clean shaven legs and facial hair. Hair should be worn in a top bun, no other styling. Skirts knee high, no more revealing . Shirt needs to cover until two inches below Adams apple. Only sports bra. No facial make up and only antiperspirant no deodorant or scents.

Then it would be equality and reasonable.

[–]beaniebev -1 points0 points1 point 4 years ago (7 children) | Copy Link

but like… those rules do exist for women and have for a long time in almost all places- it sucks to lose your right to self expression doesnt it?

[–]j0k3ricu 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (6 children) | Copy Link

No, It doesn't exists. Tell me one school that says females need to shave their legs and facial hair

[–]beaniebev -1 points0 points1 point 4 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link

hair needs to be worn in a bun, skirts knee length, buttoned up shirts, no makeup, and girls with large breasts get sent home more often than girls with smaller breasts because of how theyre sexualized. those rules all exist in a lot of places lol

[–]j0k3ricu 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

Asked about shaving the natural hair, facial hair and hair below the knees. For females?

[–]beaniebev 1 point2 points3 points 4 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

those arent secondary sex characteristics for women as they are men- the biological equivalent to the enlarged adams apple or facial hair are breasts: the secondary sex characteristic for women. telling men that they cannot have facial hair is like telling women they cannot have breasts. neither is a logical thing to do. 3/4 of your examples are enacted in most places

[–]j0k3ricu 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

Exactly my point. It's sexist to force male to hide masculine features. If they had said facial hair should be well kept, that would be reasonable.

FYI not most school, a few schools. The once that don't restrict the fashion choices let female students get away with any level sexualisation. Schools are model after professional environment. Sexualising once self is not a valid professional skill to develop, unless the female students are eyeing on stripping and Only fans.

[–]beaniebev -1 points0 points1 point 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

youre slut shaming women for how they dress, thats sexism too homes. how is having a beard not sexualizing ones self then by revealing the male secondary sex characteristics? being a sexual being for ones own enjoyment and empowerment is a valid skill to develop; recognizing what someone is or isnt comfortable wearing and learning to express themselves most authentically is an ESSENTIAL skill to develop, for both men and women. facial hair hasnt been sexualized like the breasts or butt have, despite the lack of sexuality in their nature exactly like facial hair, so giving men the option to explore expression through their clothing and facial hair free of judgement ought to let women express themselves free of judgement too do you not agree? bc if you dont youre saying women should be restricted for revealing their secondary sex characteristics and men should not which is also sexist

[–]j0k3ricu 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago* (0 children) | Copy Link

Slut Shaming😂.I don't believe in the term "Slut Shaming". The meaning of the term has changed endlessly and used to attack men as well. I said well maintained facial hair (professional styles) is reasonable, so should be for female.

As Dave Chapelle said, If you wear a police uniform, I would think you are a police. If you wear a whore's Uniform, I would think you are a whore.

Rest of your argument is just to insult male gender.

[+]BeNice_777 -47 points-46 points-45 points 4 years ago (10 children) | Copy Link

It's their published policy, if you don't like it there are plenty of other schools that may be a more suitable choice for your children.

Can't see why anyone would have an issue with this.

[–]Drippinice 25 points26 points27 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Yeah sexism is just fine… stfu

[–]xdzgor 10 points11 points12 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Policy can still be crap and deserve contempt and condemnation.

[–]NiceNob 8 points9 points10 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

I'm in a pathetic country where beards and long hair are banned in all schools and colleges. What should I do?

[–]BrokeMacMountain[S] 4 points5 points6 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

train your chest your chest hair upwards? ;)

[–]elonsmusketer 6 points7 points8 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

for muslims this is like banning humans hijabs

[–]Kindly-Town 27 points28 points29 points 4 years ago* (0 children) | Copy Link

They didn't ban makeup. So it's just another feminist in school who got butthurt on seeing male puberty is working as intended. Feminist school staffs no longer control themselves from taking revenge from boys.

[–]isthebuffetopenyet 2 points3 points4 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Spot the Catholic priest, hair tickles his balls, so they have to shave it off!

[+]buckshotdblaught00 -15 points-14 points-13 points 4 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

I don't know why you are getting downvoted. I went to an all boys catholic high school and we weren't allowed facial hair either.

It's not like it's a public school. Besides, how many teenagers do you know that can actually grow decent facial hair?

I would, however, admit that a ban on makeup would be equivalent.

[–]isthebuffetopenyet 5 points6 points7 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

As somebody else has said, suspiciously, Catholic priests do like pre pubescent boys. Can't be a coincidence.

[+]buckshotdblaught00 -7 points-6 points-5 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I get the suspicion. In my experience, I had mostly laypersons as my teachers. There was only one member of the church that taught me, and he wasn't even a priest. He was a Franciscan friar, "Brother L."

[+]SoulKeen -17 points-16 points-15 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

If it is middñe s hood and high school that is ok.

[–]Starmind0 2 points3 points4 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

No it's not. Their body, their choice.
