Recently I posted that having dealt with Jack's worsening depression, I don't want to date or partner with a man who has depression. I also said, I want our issues to play well together. Cue scrote, with this lovely little exchange. I've pushed back hard.
JoeRMD77: I was reading your posts and agree: I don't want to date people with depression either. Such losers.
Me: My late husband was damn sure not a "loser". They just have more issues than I'm willing to put up with. Namecalling NOT needed or wanted.
J: But the way you said you wouldn't deal with someone with depression anymore. Makes them sound unworthy.
Me: I simply don't want a partner with depression. Doesn't make anyone a loser or unworthy. Simply a preference.
J: Gotcha', so the handicapped. That makes sense.
Me: OH OK you're sealioning, and not talking to me in good faith. GOT IT. No matter what argument I make, you're going to twist my words, and talk shit. Such a great use of your time, Joe. Wow. Just wow. And by the way, I must be on the right track if simply expressing a PREFERENCE is enough to disgruntle you or any man. I'll keep having and stating those preferences, excluding men I don't care for, and not being open and willing to entertain just any man. Gotta love having CHOICES about everything in life.I wonder, Joe, do YOU suffer from depression? Have YOU been dumped because of mental health issues, or any other issues? Do YOU consider yourself a loser? How much of this is your PROJECTION?
To tie this back into dating, just a note, sister queens: don't date any man whose issues do not play well with yours; it's a recipe for misery, and life is too short to live miserably. Keep vetting til you find someone who complements you in every way possible. Yes, we all have issues, but some people's issues are far easier to deal with than others. Moreover, you are very, very much allowed to have preferences, express them, exclude men who don't suit you, keep those standards high, and be only with men who suit you down to the ground, in every way humanly possible. Nothing less will do.
Secondly, don't ever engage any more than you have to with a man-baby who sea-lions. It's a rhetorical strategy designed to entrap and make you lose, since there is no acceptable answer. They will twist everything you say negatively. Call it out when it happens. Cue the resulting deep silence, or what I hope happens in this case, a mantrum, then silence after he flounces off in a huff. I am vastly entertained now by it all, now that I know his game, have told him his game, and outed his bad intentions. Don't date men like JoeRMD77, they are total wastes of time and flesh.
