I think top replies on this sub focus too much on fairness and equivalence. There will often be a "Men/women can have X standard" and the top 30 replies will inevitably be "Yeah OK. But you have to accept women/men have X standard too!!!"

Actually, people do what the hell they want. They're poor and they chase rich partners, they're sluts but refuse to settle with a slut, they're fat but insist on athletic partners. Whatever. It's fine.

If you have hypocritical standards, prospective partners will almost never care. They only care that you meet their personal standards which may or may not overlap with their own attributes. Water finds it's own level. If you have really bad/unrealistic standards the only person you are harming is yourself because you are the one keeping yourself single.
