Doubtful. Trends just shift. The next body "it girl" body type may not be the slim thicc look though. It could be bigger, it could be thinner. You never know.

The jump from 90s heroin chic to the Kardashian curves only took about 20-25 years. We'll probably see another shift or two depending on pop culture and fashion. People flock to where the money and fame is and like to emulate that look.

BBLs are already going out of style. I think the general concept of having big boobs will always be in style, but probably not in such cartoonish proportions as we see nowadays. I have a feeling that eventually lip filler and facial structuring filler will also be looked at as a fad one day. People will still likely get procedures done, but with a focus on looking more “natural”. Less inflated.

No because curves will always be attractive. Fake body parts don’t count as curves. Women who are naturally curvy without surgery have a very different look than women who get implants…but that won’t stop women from getting them.

The decline in popularity over the past 10 years of Victoria’s Secret and the sort of look and feel their brand had, is a good demonstration of how the culture has already shifted.

I actually listened to the lyrics of “Scar Tissue” by the Red Hot Chili Peppers the other day and after the line young Kentucky girl in a push-up bra I was like damn I forgot those were a thing. I can’t even remember the last time I put one on. The style has shifted to be very chill/retro.

Surgery won’t necessary lose popularity — I think it will actually continue to become more popular — but what surgeries people have, and what their aesthetic goal is when they have them, will change based on changing trends.

For instance, buccal fat removal is having a major moment, but that won’t last. We’re likely on the downside of the sudden trend curve of BBL popularity. But I suspect we’ll be seeing steady increases in facelifts and eyelid surgeries, especially since our social experience of aging has changed quite a bit and many people wish to invest in looking as youthful as they can now.

Other surgeries, such as nose jobs, will continue to be popular and likely become more so, though we will likely see changes in the aesthetic goals people have with them. Right now that super altered, upturned “Barbie nose” is trendy, but that may not last either.

I believe cosmetic plastic surgery will become a fading fad but it's not going to happen anytime close to anywhere near soon. Tons of men including me love big fat round butts so alot women who don't have that will go get BBLs. I'll still sleep with a girl who got a BBL but only as long as it looks good and it looks like it's not fake. But I still prefer an all natural girl. I prefer my women au naturel. I don't like wigs weave and heavy makeup. But yes a lot of women will revert back to a more natural look. But attraction is not a choice. People can't help what their attracted to. You can't make someone like what they don't like you can't make someone be attracted to what they're not attracted to. As far as society's beauty standards for women it's always changing. From decade to decade. When I was growing up in the early 2000s it was always about big tits you had to have big tits to be sexy. So a lot of girls and a lot of women wanted to get boob jobs and they got boob jobs. Then recently it switched to big butts. You have to have a big butt to be sexy. That's why you have all these women getting fake asses I'm flying into these foreign countries to get BBLs. But like what I said before about attraction beauty is an eye of the beholder. Different people are attracted and desiring of different things.

God, I hope so. I used to work for a medical journal for plastic surgeons. There are a LOT of people who don't know what they're doing, and people end up paralyzed, dead, with permanently withered muscles, etc.

I'm not sure what gender transitioning has to do with it though, unless you think men will be more attracted to MtF, skinny, "boy build" women?

I don’t think so. Even though BBL is the “in” look right now boob jobs are still plenty popular, despite it being associated with the 00s bimbo look. As much as the wider society thinks BBLs are going out of style, curvy will never go out of style in black and Latino communities and there’s always been a lot of pressure on slim and skinny black/Latina girls to be more curvy so i think it’ll continue to be popular in some circles.

There’s so many types of plastic surgery as well. Liposuction, mommy makeovers, fillers, rhinoplasty. There are cultures that give teenage girls a rhinoplasty as a coming of age gift, which goes beyond a trend and more of a cultural practice.

No. As all technology continues to advance overall, cosmetic procedures will improve in quality and become cheaper, and thus more accessable to more people. So popularity will skyrocket, but it will be harder to discern when someone has it and the results will typically look better.

The particular type of look that people seek to acheive through cosmetic surgery will constantly evolve as cultural preferences evolve, though. So if a "natural" look is what's preferred, then more of those who get cosmetic surgery will opt for a "natural" look (as ironic as that sounds).

I don't think plastic surgery will ever go away, I think it will just become less noticeable. Part of the reason why people shit on plastic surgery now is because, unless you're a celebrity and have a blank check to fix yourself up with (and even then plenty of celebrities look like lizard people), it's so obviously fake that it's off-putting. That's going to change over time as medical technology advances, and you'll eventually be seeing a lot more people that have gotten work done and just look better, but less overt.

Yes. It was once affordable to only high status and wealthy people. Now it is much more affordable for the middle class. This means that plastic surgery will lose its appeal as a status symbol for the upper class.

I actually had a few Reddit Chats with some young women, and they all had a short list of cosmetic surgeries that they had wanted to get.

Though I'd bet that women will have some sort of movement to 'normalize' (aka. lower standards) for women's bodies to make 'natural beauty' something better. Kinda like what diamonds did for the natural vs. synthetic thing.

I don't think so. Plastic surgery isn't just breast implants and bbls. I know some people who have traveled to turkey just to get a nose job. I know people who have gotten fox eye surgery. I know people who have done coolsculpting. I know a lot of people who have gotten lip injections. Etc. I don't talk to many people, and I don't have many friends. The fact that I know a lot of people who have done cosmetic procedures is enough proof that it's very common. But if you go on various subreddits, like r/plasticsurgery you'll see for yourself. It's not just women getting plastic surgery btw. Men do it too. I think plastic surgery will just become more and more common.

I laughed internally because she's the only one who has had plastic surgery done, but it was so subtle it suited her perfectly. If women have time and money available they will use it to try to improve their appearance. The question is will women have money available and will the prices be accessible.

I suppose with advancing technology prices will decrease and women will do it more as long as there is sufficient wealth distribution. If the concentration of wealth increases then the mid to lower classes will stop doing it.

I hope so, if someone has a huge nose or jaw that's obviously unfortunate and recognisable by doctors at a young age then sure have surgery but all the cosmetic filler, botox, body alteration is just a form of barbarism to me. I'm not in favour of trans-humanisim, its very much a false hope. I mean just look at how weird and unattractive all these surgery victims are! I much prefer a less than perfect natural face. In my opinion coming to terms with our limitations and finding acceptance with who we are is better than always chasing after some fantasy self because it will never be enough because self rejection is implicit in such an endeavour.

No. The surgeries women get will just keep changing with the trends. Now that skinny is trending again we can just expect to see more liposuction, breast lifts, reductions, and smaller implants, along with whatever facial features the most popular celebs have. Now I do think more natural looking surgery has been preferred for several years already. But that doesn’t mean women aren’t still having work done, they just want it more subtle.
