I have a daughter and a son. I want them both treated fairly. I have no doubt that society is doing it's best to make sure that my daughter is treated fairly. I do not feel that way about my son.

My take is that under the law, men and women should be treated equally. For example, definitions of rape should center around who is the aggressor and not who is the penis owner. Prison sentences should be similar for the same crime.

The main problem with feminism is that it lures people in with talk about equality, but it really isn't.

Too many guys send their daughters to college thinking they did a good job of raising a well-balanced young woman only to wonder what happened to that girl during 4 years of college that turned her into having a permanent victim mentality and blaming everything on men.

Do women have issues? Sure. They need help and support. Men have issues too. They need help and support too.

Don’t forget that men or people with testes are the only ones that create sperm.

I like making my own decisions on everything, so try not to get caught up in echo chambers that only push one agenda.

However, take that with the grain of salt that it is worth as it is only my opinion.

I support the MRA movement because its clear to me that if the modern feminist movement got literally everything it is calling for there would still be problems, because feminists are not concerned with (or actively promote) gender gaps that favor women.

They're justifiably concerned with the 'wage gap' but have no interest in the 'workplace death' gap. They care a lot about more representation in Congress, but don't mind the male only draft. They want more C suite girl bosses, but don't mind the waning participation of men in higher education.

Mens issuews are issues feminism was never designed to address, and so the 'the future is female' people will never solve those problems. We have to do it ourselves.

Don’t be assholes to one another is key. I have two daughters that grew up with me as a father. I’m very “no nonsense” about the world. All sides have their extremists, crazies and downright stupid members. All of them also have kind, loving and honorable members. Heroes and zero’s can be found in every crowd.

Both daughters (32 and 27) are married with kids and making more money themselves than the median income for a family in our area.

People are individuals first, members of a group second.

Men and women are not equal in their traits. They are however equally valued as human beings.

I think having a daughter makes a man acutely aware of the hazards that are gender specific torward women and also weary of the more sinester elements of the "manosphere." At the same time being a father makes one aware of ongoing war against fathers and fatherhood.

I personally feel we live in an age of toxic privlige that is imploding. We are entering the find oit portion of fuck around and find out. For a long time men got away with toxic shit. Now the tide has turned. Now some women see this as a chance to get away with toxic shit. Soon theybwill find oit as the pendulum of justice alowly gravitates torward equality.

Yes. Honestly I think this community kinda sucks. It was much better pre-Trump and before MGTOW and Red Pill etc. got banned and flooded this sub with more extreme types. Once upon a time this sub was filled with valuable information like statistics from studies. Now it’s mostly personal anecdotes of people complaining about perceived double standards all too reminiscent of are/feminism. It’s a shame because men’s issues deserve more attention but the MRM is never going to take flight if this sub is representative

I’m a step father to a 14 year, her dad’s never been in the picture really, and he’s a real arsehole, so I’m her first real father figure in her life, I’ve been with her since she was 8.

I’ve always tried to teach her to just respect people in general, and to try and be open and kind and listen. I’ve always told her she’s the master (mistress?) of her own destiny.

My biggest worry is with relationships and stuff, like when she’s older, or on her phone, etc. Whatever the intentions of this group, men can and will be sex pests, and I’ve always told never to accept ANY shit from guys in that sense.

I don't have daughters(yet), but if/when I do, I'm going to teach them what's essentially the same as what my Mother and Sisters believe, which is that Feminism is stupid in all it's forms.

Also, unlike most(?) feminists, my daughters will understand that men and women can only ever be "as equal" as basic RPG classes, LoL champion groupings, or other similarly analogous metaphor. Which will make them quite comfortable with biological equivalents to "Ashe is a crappy tank" or "fighters should be on the frontlines".

As an aside, the framing of this question is VERY stupid and downright divisive. There's zero cause to believe that those of us with daughters would somehow have a "different take". It just doesn't make sense that you'd isolate to that subgroup for this question.

I'm an MRA and an anti-feminist. I'm doing all this for my daughter and her generation.

I've helped organise several ICMIs. My daughter is mentioned at the beginning and end of ICMI17 and even briefly appears on stage during one of the presentations. The other organisers and attendees loved that she was there.

lol funny joke, artificial wombs are getting developed soon. it is only due to sexism and misogyny that it is taking this long. look into the term "fem tech" and how the field of everything related to female bodies gets understudied and underfunded and ignored. it took this long for humans to have available birth control, sterilization, abortion, methods to opt out of menstruation even though we could have made these tools already if people cared enough. actually minority of humans have these readily accessible which is a problem.

menstruation, pregnancy, childbirth, postpartum is unpleasant at best and suffering at worst. human evolved to be unfit for childbirth (obstetrics dilemma). it is violent. more people get PTSD from childbirth than serving in the military. it should be normalized to remove the uterus the way people remove wisdom teeth. no human should have to go through that.

if blind people were in power they would claim all lights are useless and waste of money so we would not have lights.

My adult daughter has been very anti-men. But she came to live with wife and me earlier this due to a financial pinch. She started wearing dresses, cooking, and appreciating me. My wife is very feminine which rubbed off on her. Now she moved back on her own and is dating a big strong man and seems to appreciate him. She is coming around.

I teach her that both sexes are equal and that she can achieve anything she sets her mind to, if she puts the work in and has the determination to see it to the end.

My mother is one of the most kind, generous and loving persons I've ever met, but she was also strong, and she was a true partner to my father, both in making decisions and raising the kids. She earned the respect by her actions, not screaming "Kill all men" from the top of her lungs. I want my daughter to learn the same and become a strong, self-reliant person.

Biological inequalities do not prevent us from reaching a social equilibrium.

The capacity or incapacity of bearing children shouldn't have a big impact on your quality of life, your rights, your responsabilities. But we still live in a world where it does. Only by criticizing those impacts and uncovering the constructed aspects of them will lead us to a social equilibrium.

LGBTQ is only a start, at some point there will be so many different ways of explaining your gender/sexuality that people will stop seeing it as a binary thing. Everyone will be a human who happens to have x biology y sexuality and z expression. Instead of being either a woman or a man (with all the bagages and stereotypes that comes with the role).

I think that a post-gender society would be so freeing.

Equality in regards to rights is what's generally meant when people talk about equality in the realm of politics. This isn't equality in ability. This is not to be confused with equity either.

My suggestion, familiarize yourself and your daughter with the idea of egalitarianism. It will give your daughter a good bullshit detector. Egalitarianism is the bedrock that feminism should be based on...if is not, it's a power play, it's politics, it's a special interest group that maintains itself first, it's members second and everyone else last. As adults, we should recognize this fact in any institution, especially those political in nature.

I have to continuously reassure her thing things she likes aren't bad bc others don't like it. It's strange bc she's into fairly "girly" things and kind of gets ridiculed by other girls for not liking more masculine things. It was a role reversal I was not expecting. Usually it's girls wanting to be tomboys but in 6th grade in this new generation it's opposite. She gets bullied for liking more traditional female things. It was a weird wake up call for what I mentally prepared for as a father

I've noticed fathers of daughters are met w/ suspicion among MRAs. Such men are sometimes called "daughter-owners". There's some truth to the idea that men who have fathered ONLY girls are inclined to become woman-firster types in the name of being heroic re their offspring. If however a man can spot this natural desire as paternal protectiveness in overdrive and rein it in, he's fine.

Becoming a woman-firster on becoming the father of girls isn't uncommon and shouldn't be unexpected. But this tendency shouldn't be allowed to rule a man's attitude toward equality of the sexes-- true equality, not women-first kinds of it.

Generally I find this community harsh to women, which I get as I'm sure many men have had bad experiences not having their struggles recognized. Not having this acknowledgement is hard and can cause negative effects. At the same time as recognizing this, I think it's equally important to recognize all struggling and that one person's struggle does not discount another person's struggle even if that person is a women. There is space for all people to be heard and recognized and it's important that all people no matter gender experience acknowledgement. Daughter, son, whatever you align with, a person deserves recognition.

Yes I am. And my take on this community is that there are things that need serious considerations and actions in the society that we live in regarding men. As a father I do everything necessary to teach my daughters how they should treat a man, what they should expect from a man etc. I try to help them understand that not all men are the same. Some are good and some are bad. And that’s the same thing with women. That they should be able to think for themselves rather than have society and other women dictate them on what they need to do in life no matter how it involves a man. They don’t need society telling them to dress in revealing outfits once they’re adults to get a man’s attention. They don’t need other women telling them that they need to give men attitude in minor misunderstandings just to blow the whole thing into a big uncivilised argument. They need to know and understand how a man will feel if they are having too much expectations that are unrealistic and how they’d feel if they were sort of being used all the time by a man and has just a one way thing going on. Sometimes I like to spend time with them just by myself so that they they know that once they start getting ti know other people and try get into a relationship, they have a proper understanding of how they should treat men, how they should be treat by men, what to expect and what not to expect etc etc.
