Feminism enforces gender roles and expectations, such as:

abuser - the feminist Duluth model defines domestic abuse as something men do to women
rapist - feminist researcher Mary Koss' work excludes women from the category of perpetrator, which has influenced legal definitions including the Sexual Offences Act 2003 in the UK, where rape is defined as something a person does "with his penis".
protector and provider - feminists have repeatedly fought against family court reform, while keeping mens' obligation to financially support their ex and their child without having any right of custody over the child.

As for mental health services, given the above three big factors that increase risk of suicide in men (which aren't the only ones by any stretch), feminists have been instrumental in restricting available resources to men who have been victims.

So no, feminism does not help men's suicide and depression by removing gender roles and expectations. It holds to a "man bad, woman weak" worldview, just like traditionalists, and has the political clout to keep these roles enshrined in law.

As for the gender roles, it is also bullshit cause they support permanent alimony and oppose joint custody. Even in places that have decent custody laws they work to replace those laws with man hating ones.

In my experience women are the staunchest advocates of traditional gender roles. Many men on here have commented that in their lives the women are the ones who are the most cruel or least caring when you open up or act less 'manly'. Vulnerability and showing weakness is viewed as, surprise, weakness.

When I opened up about being abused sexually as a kid, my mother told me "funny how we didn't know" and to get over it, my girlfriend viewed me as less of a man and left me, and my woman friends mocked me for being bothered by it still.

No woman has ever been there for me. I've been hurt worse opening up about my problems than by my problems in the first place.

I won't even bother arguing the point about being the breadwinner given how hypergamous society and dating is at the moment.

"Feminism" has done no such thing. They claim they do & that's enough for them to believe they've completely changed society. There is no social norm that makes it "normal" for men to be stay at home parents. Not to say that feminists "should" fix that (I personally don't even believe stay at home parents should still be a thing in this current economy. I don't think women get to have that choice anymore. I think everyone should work nearing full time & contribute financially), I'm simply pointing out the fact that nothing ever changed.

Feminism is also entirely opposed to men "sharing their feelings" and her own post is proof of that. She literally whined like a childish brat because a man expressed his true feelings. How did she respond? By calling him a misogynist & acting like he should be ignored and dismissed. How is that in line with her claiming that feminism wants men to express their feelings & not bottle them up?

See, feminism is only "okay" with men expressing their thoughts within the confines of feminist theory. If men break out of that, they are immediately shamed, like she just proved. And it's not like he said anything outlandish. It was all factual. Men's issues are indeed never talked about on any relevant platform. It's never discussed & feminists have historically done nothing to help men, despite their hollow claims of being an "equality" movement.

But feminists resent being held accountable for their obscene bigotry & hatred. So the only response is to lash out at men.

No. It has entrenched into law the idea that fathers are nothing more than "working ATM's" for their families, shamed men for a perceived lack of sexual success (no group uses the "incel" slur more), etc. Men's lives have stayed as miserable and brutal as they have been since the dawn of time (that is, unless you are blinded by the apex fallacy into thinking "historical male privilege" was rampant).

Also, I must note that the short-lived movement absolutely loves to take credit for things that they have no influence over. The scientific and technological changes of the last century are solely responsible for the evolving social conditions we have experienced (from the advent of birth control driving the sexual revolution, to the devaluing of manual labour with the increase in mechanization and automation making it possible for jobs to become more egalitarian). Take away the last century of technological progress (which indeed could happen in short order in the case of several existential threats that we face as a species) and their ideas about "gender roles" are completely worthless, and exposed as nothing but "hot air" born from modern affluence.

The national equality agency (majority female and all feminists of course) had an FAQ on their site and one of the questions was regarding mens issues. The answer was that the feminist orgs have mens groups.

Similar story with the support group for sexual and domestic violence. They make up their definition that exclude men, talk in extremely gendered terms, point to societal power as the motive for all and then release data on self reported incidents. Why would any man go there to report anything?

Nope.

The biggest sign is regarding the “workplace reshuffle” feminism is only interested in two things principally:

1) Jobs that liberal overwhelmingly white women have access to

2) Jobs that carry a good degree of social or economic power or are influence.

Feminism isn’t particularly interested in the situation of women in countries where there isn’t a whole load of cushy white collar jobs for them to land into and start influencing things like policy or social trends.

And also their rave for equality stops with jobs that carry no real influence, but carry a truckton of responsibility and import, but are still overwhelmingly dominated by men. I’m talking about stuff like bricklayers, firefighters, police officers and waste management workers. All jobs that in their own way carry a lot of societal import and responsibility but often do not carry a lot of direct “wider” influence in society, and they often work long hours and are tough on the individual.

But feminism isn’t interested in the fact that 99% of bricklayers are men. They consider the fact that powerful roles in society are tilted maybe 5-10% in favour of men as “the great urgency of the fight for equality” for women but will happily leave what they consider trashy and worthless roles, without which society would collapse and are often thankless, overwhelmingly dominated by men because women don’t want to do these jobs.

So it’s not really about equality is it. It’s about power. And money.

And if women think that men want society to be structured in a way where they’re the only ones shovelling other peoples shit or hauling bricks all day then I don’t know what to say. Men have done these jobs largely out of necessity and because they recognise society needs them to function and because women simply put won’t do them. Not because men intrinsically desire to do jobs that have them exhaust their bodies, experience poor conditions and expose themselves to risk.

Only when we do open up, you see us as weak. Only when we’re not the sole breadwinner, you seek a more viable mate. Only when we’re not “macho” and “alpha” you want us to be when it suits you, and actively look upon us with disgust when we act like how we evolved to. Maybe feminism would’ve worked if women held up their up or the bargain, but nothing has changed expect for the en mass feminization, isolation, and societal belittlement of an entire gender, so that the other can feel “empowered”.

I think we have to be a little bit wary of lumping all feminism into a single view point. Clearly there is an argument that says if both parents work equally and have equal opportunities in the workplace then it might enable men to have more child care time.

I do somewhat resent the idea that men’s mental health issues are all because “we don’t talk and open up enough” - this is kind of victim blaming and ignores the objective environmental and external difficulties men face that lead to depression.

One of those is the empathy gap.

I do think it’s equally men and women’s responsibility to address this issue. Many men share responsibility for being scared to advocate for men’s rights as well.

Yeah no, I have a big issue with sharing emotions with women at all now. I tried it once when I was getting treated like absolute dogshit, like really manipulative narcissistic stuff and she knew I'd just after 5 years gotten out of therapy. So I gave it a shot after being told of course, that she likes when men show emotion. So no. I doub't I'll ever believe that even if feminism was helping. Which it's not. I'm not going to pin it on them, there's a ton of factors playing into that so it's not fair to do so, but I don't think we'll ever be at a point where we could have that because, well, I dunno honestly. But I'm doubtful.

Third wave feminism doesn't benefit anyone. It's really about encouraging women to act like men, but these women lose the very thing, femininity, that makes then attractive to men. So she's become a partner in a law firm by 35. Fabulous. But she won't date anyone earning less than $200K and guys aren't interested in her disagreeable and bossy nature. Such women think they are winning, and in a sense they are, but they will find it hard to find a husband and produce children.

I don't think there is anything men can do about this. Women have to make choices based on understanding the relevant outcomes.

Ultimately, though, the blame is primarily upon social atomization due to capitalist and consumerist social formation. The invention and normalization of private cars causes more loneliness than anything else.
