No, an abuser does not "lose control." He is perfectly in control of his faculties when he is abusing women. He knows exactly what he's doing. The first time an incident like this happens, walk away, block and delete, and never look back.

The lower status, poorer performing men treat women with "hostility." Higher value, higher skilled men treat women better. Once you see this truth, you will begin to see this everywhere.

I hate that mom's understand they put in so much more work and accept it. Like all those pics that talk about moms being superwomen (they are) and doing 10373+ things at once.

But no, women, your power doesn't come from drowning neck deep in things you shouldn't be, and are not even getting compensated for.

The trope of husband's being incapable of doing basic things needs to die, and women need to stop perpetuating this ideal.

I agree all the super mom bs is a little crumb the patriarchy puts out to make women feel empowered and important in their submission and mistreatment. Very similar to the man child men are big dummies trope that makes women feel smart and good about themselves but allows men to play dumb, use excuse after excuse to manipulate them and pretend it’s cuz “I’m just not as smart about housework as you babe”.

Wake up ladies, they really think we’re dumb as bricks for falling for this. Men will always actually think they’re smarter than us especially when they can easily get out of work by twisting us like this. And yes they aren’t smarter than us, they’re just more manipulative but don’t let them turn it around into they’re innocently dumb as they manipulate you with their lack of responsibility and playing dumb gigs.

All of this, plus Superwoman is just nlog for grown-up women, another pathetic competition to be the "best" and worthy of existence.

I wish more men could be like my boss.

He earns 6 figures (about 300k per year) is mentoring me to make the same career moves that he did, to earn the wage he does, keeping up with our extremely needy clients who call all hours etc etc etc.

ALL WHILE SPLITTING THE WEEK WITH HIS WIFE.

He works in the office 3 days one week, works at home 2 days, and swaps with his wife.

Then Saturdays are for doing things, and Sundays are for "breakfast in bed and lazy day". They have 6 children, ranging from 14 to 2.

I have seriously never met a better power couple, they're both busy as shit, sitting in high positions - whilst splitting parenting fairly, let alone everything else. With the WFH days comes all the house hold chores as well.

He worships the ground she walks on, and its so genuine - he brought her to our office just after they had their youngest baby, he was absolutely smitten, and you could tell it was genuine, because he was smitten at her, not about her to everyone else.

Moral to my accidentally long winded comment - "if he wanted to, he would. No one is ever too busy for their own kids, that's just a lazy ass excuse for escaping responsibility

(Edited to add- im in australia, so it may be a little different here then the states)

Of course 55% of men are happy with the division of labor. They're married to the 74% of women who manage the majority of things. The remaining 45% of men that are not happy probably want to do less.

Ooooof never thought of it this way but I think you’re right!

[–]MixWideFDS Newbie 106 points107 points108 points 5 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

Think of how low a bar is set for men.

Think of all the posts from women on Reddit asking if they're a bitch for wishing their partner would put his clothes in the hamper (to make it easier for her to do 100% of the laundry for both of them), or requesting advice on how to ask their partner to brush his own teeth (without hurting his feelings of course), or wondering how to ask their unemployed spouse to please at least watch the kids a couple of hours a day between COD matches.

Then realize that even with standards set this low, only 38% of women are satisfied with how much their partners are doing.

Cue right wing men griping that feminism is destroying society and, worst of all, the Nuclear Family^TM . Because the nuclear family is supposedly the base of society, and it toes the given moral line, and is enforced from generation to generation as the ideal, particularly and harshly with the girls.

Maybe don't have the nuclear family as your only line of defense for making sure society doesn't crumble. Somehow, life was more manageable with an extended family, and after that, a community that actually gave a shit about each other, for support. This is helpful whether you have children or not.

Go ahead and keep isolating yourselves with your 2.5 kids and husband/wife, and tell me that you're happier and that your life is more manageable than a family that has a solid and large network of people they can have help support them when they need it, and returning the favor when life shifts.

I am Gen Z and I am loving the vibes shifting with the women in my age bracket. Next step is Gen Alpha, and hopefully they'll just say fuck it to the whole system. I hope the nuclear family disintegrates.

People keep blaming feminism for the declining birth rate but will never acknowledge that most households can’t survive on one income, so women still have to work full time jobs while doing 100% of the reproductive labor, and the overwhelming majority of the domestic labor at home.

Why tf would we sign up for that? Why would we agree to that when we watched our mothers work full time and do more around the house? All while the dad gets to be the “fun” parent that doesn’t give a fuck if the kids are eating healthy and cleaning up after themselves.

Fuck that! I’m not doing that shit, and I feel sorry for every woman who is stuck watching her husband do nothing while she struggles to work, cook, clean, and raise kids.

[–]Apricot_IbexFDS Newbie 60 points61 points62 points 5 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

And their argument that feminism is causing this is such BS and they know it. Look at places in Asia where the birth rate has also plummeted in recent decades, especially South Korea, Taiwan, Singapore, Japan, and Hong Kong. The same for several Eastern European countries, though in some of those, I believe women are also emigrating in large numbers. None of them are bastions for “Western feminism” at all and all have lower birth rates than the US.

Ironically, they’re also cultures that sexpats have hailed as “based” and good for finding undemanding “submissive women” (which is pretty much also untrue, but ya know scrotes).

It’s simply that these women have risen above chattel class and had the ability to opt out of domestic servitude for the first time and are now doing so, especially in the wealthiest Asian countries where women are dominating academically and enjoying the single life if they want to.

It pisses scrotes off that women don’t REALLY want to cross an ocean to clean their skid marked undies and that it was economic necessity and misogyny pushing them into marrying the barrel scrapers. Women never wanted to do this. It’s like saying economic equality is ruining cheap immigrant labor. No one WANTS to live like that.

In China you can literally go to the mall and rent a boyfriend for the day, and return him. If that isn't queen shit I don't know what is.

[–]hopewings21 points 5 years ago* [recovered] (1 child) | Copy Link

China specifically did away with organized religion, and they had women working in the highest levels of government even 50 years ago under Maoism. So there is no tradition holding women back from positions of power. China is now home to most of the world's female billionaires.

If Gen Z women end up having better opportunities and get to choose more equitable life and work situations than my generation, I will be so happy for them! Literally, if y’all actually get the equality that was (falsely/gaslightingly) promised to us millennials, I don’t even care. I’ll just be happy for real progress.

[–]LearnedWomanThrowaway Account 36 points37 points38 points 5 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

So agreed. Don't fall for the same nonsense we had to endure, Gen Z gals! Life can be better for you!

[–]juliana_sanFDS Newbie 31 points32 points33 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I will lay down my life in battle so GenZ women can have it better.

TBH, no lie, most of the inspirational women I follow on TikTok are GenZ (obviously) and these fucking queens inspired me to get certain aspects of my own life together.

I'm on a 4 month paid leave from work, and I am using that time to get certifications to change my miserable career, get my finances in order, set myself up with a few forms of passive income, reconnect with myself spiritually, and get healthy. All because these 20 year olds are making the best of being born into a bullshit situation and said "Nah. Not for us." And are actively giving out this information for free on the internet.

I will never buy into the fabricated GenZ / Millennial rivalry. Absolutely not.

[–]placemat24FDS Newbie 29 points30 points31 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Gen Z here. This is why Im choosing the first option. I get money and I dont have to deal with the wildly unbalanced division of labor.

[–]immortallogicFDS Apprentice 15 points16 points17 points 5 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

But do you think the steps that are being taken backwards with libfem ideas are going to hinder that?

[–]huevos_and_whiskeyFDS Newbie 43 points44 points45 points 5 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

I absolutely believe they could. My generation was raised being spoonfed the assumption that feminism had won, and we had equality already. This was patently false, and a lot of us had to break out of that illusion through painstaking trial and error. Misogyny and patriarchy are still alive and well today, they have just become more insidious and hidden in many ways (while in many others they are still quite blatant.) The addition of the lie - that we already have equality - leads to a lot of women taking feminism for granted. This lead to the rise of libfem fake empowerment, which dresses up dis-empowering things as if they are empowering! It’s a topsy-turvy world out there, folks. And if that morass of a convoluted social landscape wasn’t hard enough to navigate, add in the rise of MRA/redpill ideologies! This is why I’m so thankful for ideas like those found in FDS, because it’s waking women up to the practical, bare-bones truth of the challenges we face, and giving straightforward strategies on how to make the best of our options.

Lol I have a toddler and I work so it has been very stressful . At the end of the day, I am very proud of myself . 💪🏼

And the other 45% of men are unhappy because they think they're doing too much when they're asked to put their dishes in the sink rather than left on the floor 😂

[–][deleted] 42 points43 points44 points 5 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

Women need to stop doing so much. If he doesn’t do 50%, stop cooking for him. Stop cleaning up his messes. No one is making you do these things. Nearly all the women in my family have egalitarian marriages in terms of men actually doing 50% or more of the chores. I feel bad that so many women expect to be workhorses. No one is giving you a prize. Stop

[–]LevellingUpTimeFDS Newbie 25 points26 points27 points 5 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Problem is his messes would affect the whole house. Easy enough to stop cooking for him (assuming he's not abusive and cause fights from it) but unless he's isolating his mess to "the mancave" it would snowball... there'd eventually be no clean cups to use, bugs would crawl in smelling the garbage etc

[–][deleted] 16 points17 points18 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I understand why women stay in these situations due to financial necessity, but otherwise just break up.

My first thought was that my sister's husband may be in that 3%. It is probably closer to 50/50 with them and his involvement in household duties and childcare is so notable/unusual that it seems to me that he's doing more than his "fair share."
