I've experienced this type of thing as well. My ex left my 2 very young sons alone in her downtown apt while she went to the store. I took her to court for it. The judge opened by yelling at me, asking why I didn't take her to mediation. Huh?? In our decree it says that we "may" choose mediation to solve disputes.. This was NOT a dispute and mediation would not solve it. She even admitted to it and the judge (male) did NOTHING. She has taken me to court 5 or 6 times for all manner of bullshit... A good friend just spent 3 night in jail for something similar to what you're facing, pure false allegations of abuse.

The more I hear about the US child support system, the more disgusted I am.

Do you know why none of the politicians care the least bit? Because three y benefit from it.

You see, the federal government pays the state for every dollar of money they extract from fathers through child support. Which means that every dollar you owe and they get from you is a dollar that goes in addition in the coffers of your state, from the federal government.

To correct that bias system, or to even shed light on it, is to jeopardize a huge chunk of the state's funding. Why would they do that?

Thanks for your story, and I'm so sorry that you are going through this. Absolutely incredible that as you sat there, multiple other men in the same situation piled in behind you. This is shocking. I knew it was bad, really bad. But after reading your story it's far worse than I even imagined.

I had a stager at my home the other day, to help me prep for sale. She went into a long tirade about how worried she is for her son. She mentioned some of the issues that we all talk about. I think people are only very slowly waking up, and only if they have a son of their own. Obviously they don't seem to have the same concern for their husbands or brothers.

My own family doesn't believe me, they think I just have a knack for dating crazy women. I stopped dating several years ago, and they keep trying to push me back in. They can't seem to grasp that it is as widespread as it is, that it's not just a few bad apples, that it's the system itself.

My heart goes out to you, I wish there was something more meaningful to say to help you along, but it's just terrible any way you look at it.

A journalist would jump at the chance to take all of the documented evidence and request interview with the judges and state representatives. They dropped the charges when I showed them videos of her abusing me, yet didn’t charge her with anything. Nobody gives a shit about us unfortunately

I had to go to court for mine 4 weeks ago. The guy in front of me had a paternity test from 5 years earlier that the court dropped the ball on. He is not the father of a chil bord in 1993. NOBODY CARES. I've met with state reps, I've spoken out at town halls with members of congress, and invariably you get the same thing. A quick meeting, some time with a staffer, and then a nice letter about how they don't get involved in "personal" matters. To get to the governor is no small feat.

To boil this down... what you've got here is a systematically and pervasively corrupt court district. One can presume, with some degree of safety, that this exists according to the same rules of power perpetuation that describe all other forms of power. Watch this 20 minute video, Rules for Rulers, for a primer on how that works. It's really worth the 20 minutes, and I will be referencing the core ideas of it int he rest of this comment.

Done with the video? Good, now we can begin. The corrupt court district that you are dealing with is a power structure that is supported by one or several people (presumably a series of judges and lawyers) who have turned it into a scheme to harvest wealth (from chumps like you), to pay off key supporters (presumably corrections officers, police officers, other lawyers, etc) to maintain the system and keep harvesting money.

Now you've been trying to attack this structure by going to POLITIANS... but they, directly or indirectly, are probably amongst the people running or being paid off by this scheme. (Note, I'm not saying the Govenor of your state is actually directly doing this... but he's got to get re-elected... and he needs support from Mayors, and DA's, and campaign contributions, etc... rocking the boat may be more costly to him than addressing the issue, and that means he is indirectly being paid off.) Understood in these terms, one starts to see what needs to happen to break this thing up.

Rule 2 of The Rules for Rulers is Control the Treasure. And that's the week point of this whole thing.

Know your enemy. You need to know who is running this thing, who is supporting it, and who is just going along. That may take some careful investigation on your part to figure out. You know that your ex's lawyer is lying and that suggests she is at least involved tacitly. You know that many other men in the district are also in this boat... Find them... one easy way would be to not pay and get pulled in talking to other guys in the cells... just like has already happened to you. Also find other guys who have NOT had nearly as bad a time but are still in the district (assuming there are any). This will let you start to ID names of judges, lawyers, etc who consistently are associated with unjust outcomes, and just as importantly those who AREN'T. The people who aren't are potential allies, and you'll need them later.
Build a base of support. Organize the group of ex-husbands you contacted in #1 around the express goal of destroying the corrupt court district. Look for funding and other forms of support for this group. Ideally this would be an angel-donor who would simply provide outside support, but while not impossible, that's unlikely. More likely you will need to build support piece-meal. This is where knowing your enemy becomes important. Almost certainly the corrupt cabal that you are facing has support amongst elected officials that are local. Those elected officials have opponents who would just love to have a scandal to point to, or baring that victims to point to. You can certainly provide the victims, and with some work, maybe the scandal. Later, lawyers might provide time pro-bono or for ta sizable fraction of damages.
Document EVERYTHING. You want clear evidence of Lying. Perjury. Any form of Incompetence or Negligence. Or any kind of crime as a consequence of these corrupt individuals setting up and shaking down divorcing husbands. You listed a lot of examples of that sort of thing in your description of the problems that you are suffering. Double counting of income, and not considering business losses? Those are, at a minimum, negligence by incompetence, and possibly willful negligence... if they involve more than a certain amount of money those are federal crimes maybe even larceny, or tax-fraud. You talked about the judge not being willing to look at depositions... sounds like judicial incompetence... potentially grounds for dismissal. Are Judges elected in your district? With enough documentation from enough of your ex-husbands group, you'll be able to not just make a case for bad behavior, but a PATTERN of bad behavior... add Grand to all those crime names. Did it involve more than one person? Add conspiracy.
See what you can do to place pressure on the financial set up of the court district. A few well placed tips about embezzlement to the IRS or state tax agencies perhaps. Nothing is more destructive to corruption than an outside audit. Don't limit such tactics to the court system itself, target individuals you have ID'd as almost certainly in the core leaders or key supporters of the corrupt district. This can take the form of anonymous tips, but can also be public... letters to the editor of your local rags. Does your community have its own subreddit? Emails to the city treasurer. Even if audits don't produce results directly, they can produce document chains to be targeted by freedom of information requests.
Eventually, you'll be able to build a series of weapons: An archive of documented miss-deeds, a known set of bad-actors, a series of political allies, a series of at least fair-minded people, if not allies, inside the system, some financial or legal backing. At this point, the cabal is increasingly hemmed in. What happens next is a function of the details of your weapons. Maybe you start a class action lawsuit. Maybe you push the tax fraud angle. Maybe you back the opponents of their elected political backer. Maybe you seek criminal action. Maybe you come to them behind closed doors and offer to make a deal. Regardless, you can create a legal/political/social/finatial attack on the local system itself held on a battleground outside their control. Lastly, target one or two people in the cabal and try and get them to switch sides. They can bring classes of evidence and testimony that none of your previous efforts can duplicate. (See the section on revolts in the video), and in turn, you can offer them a way out of the difficulties you have created.

Shit man. I've got trial on the 5th for support modification. My ex abandoned my son with her ex and moved states away. Has been collecting support this entire year without physical custody. I have no contact number or address for my son. My ex has had court dates adjourned twice to hire a lawyer, never hired a lawyer. Kept pushing it back to collect more money. Coming home from work the other morning, guess whose name was on the radio. My ex, arrested for larceny and forgery for stealing checks and cashing them.

Eight years ago, same ex had been through rehab. Brought my son with her to rehab. Got out and was still on drugs. I personally filed CPS reports due to finding narcotics within my sons reach at her apartment. Nothing happens. She lost custody eventually due to other reasons, so I went for physical placement. Denied. They gave my son to her parents. Mind you, owned my own home and steady job, had also just had another son. She eventually straightened up long enough to regain placement. Five years ago, I'm unemployed for six months and fall behind on support. They recommend incarceration. Avoid it by stating that I had just been hired.

Fathers get the shit end of the stick. I feel for you. I lost my entire relationship with my son because of his mother. It's been years since I have seen him. While in court, she tells a story that this has always been my choice. It's so frustrating. Especially when she lies to the judge. Claiming she has 50 50 custody of MY son with her ex boyfriend, just so it looks like she never abandoned him. Mind you, split 50 50 when her ex lives four hours away from her. I never signed my rights off for my son, social workers told me that it's impossible for her ex to have any kind of legal custody. Beyond infuriating.

A guy I was friends with who I now hate for good reasons was ordered to pay child support for kids that weren't even his, they were from a prior marriage the woman was in and it was well known/established, he was just the easier target. Judges don't care, judges do whatever they want and think they're God. I listened to details of an adoption case where the biological mother's lawyer was working for an organization that donated to the judge and the judge ignored all the laws on the books and just ruled however they wanted because "I'm the judge". You should write a small book with yours and the other men’s stories. Give it a catchy title that will get attention. Then distribute it for free. Let it spread that this is what is happening to men. Whether they believe it or not doesn’t matter. The media will catch onto anything that is viral. Use social media to your advantage. No guarantee this works but probably worth a try if you want to spread the word.

Feel for you man. Women are incentivized and rewarded handsomely for playing the victim, for a good attorney all truths are subjective and with good spin anything can be turned around or convoluted to the point of irrelevancy.

My ex never did anything and taking half wasn't enough either. She fucked up, got a good lawyer and what she didn't keep the lawyers got. I spent my entire life building the wealth we had, gone in a matter of handshakes and some documents.

Its a dirty world for love man. Prenup or nothing if it were to happen again (and that is a big if). Just try not to get hard inside any more than you are, once the dust settles, you get through it, it will be worth trying to be happy again.

This country’s attitudes towards fathers and families is terrible. We treat having children as a selfish act, something we do for our own benefit. Instead, a father supporting and being involved in his children’s lives is performing a service for society and community. We shouldn’t leave people doing this to sink or swim all on their own. I believe we should believe women when they say they are being abused in any way, but I think the man should be innocent until PROVEN guilty. If what you say/claim is true (or at least pretty darn close) ...

you need to get yourself some good legal representation
if the ex is making lots of intentionally false statements under penalty of perjury, work to prove those statements made were false and intentionally show that - at least discredit her - maybe DA might even go after her for perjury (I think DAs are less included to pursue perjury if the perjury didn't effect the outcome of the case ... but sounds like in your case her (many) lies likely in fact changed the outcome of the case, so DA may be more likely to take interest)
if ex is making lots of unintentionally false statements (you claim psychopathic, etc. - psychotic would include mental disconnect from reality - in which case she may not know what is/isn't true) ... in that case perjury wouldn't be applicable, but you could still well discredit her as witness and much of her written/oral statements. E.g. you show she make statements that are clearly false, and does so with great conviction (she may herself believe them), then she becomes not reliable in her testimony/statements, and throws everything she states into question.
On the other hand, if you've been fully honest in what evidence you provide, the ex (and her council) failing to show any of what you stated to be false should cause court to much more seriously take your statements as likely fact and truthful, and thus much more heavily and seriously considered.

I am not a lawyer, nor do I play one on TV. Go talk to an actual lawyer/attorney ... and a good one who deals and well deals with these types of cases.

Let us know how it goes, but sounds like either you've got crud representation (or none, other than by yourself) and are getting slammed. Need to step up your game. You're a man, so man up and do it, don't leave "us" lookin' like a bunch 'o pushovers. May not be fair, but sounds like you could do a helluva lot better if you well step up and well (and fairly) battle this.

And yeah, I've had to deal with psychotic person (who happened to be a woman) in court ... 3 times. And I was very well prepared (if anything, actually rather overprepared for the most part) ... and all the times, judge male or female, didn't matter, they saw through it very quickly. What she was claiming just did not hold up. Heck, sad mess, but the more she opened her mouth, testified, and presented "evidence", the more she self-destructed her own arguments (notably their gross inconsistencies and other huge flaws and gaping holes). Heck, didn't even notice it at the time, but when I obtained and read transcript, I noticed judges questions to her ... judge apparently quickly caching on - the questions swiftly changed, to her, to "What, on your world view, ..." ... because it was obviously apparent in quick order that she didn't perceive (or even remember) the world the same way as everyone else sees it. Oh, and "he said, she said" ... hard evidence (and sometimes also glaring lack thereof) can be quite good to. Much of what she claimed fell well within "he said, she said" - no evidence either of us could particularly produce regarding that, other than what each of us said and claimed. But there were notable exceptions, e.g. one highly notable. One of her many claims wasn't a he said, she said, and was significant, and should've been super easy to prove or at least provide solid evidence to back - she couldn't provide a single trace of any evidence whatsoever on that - none at all. I quite highly challenged her on that. Anyway, between that, and a whole lot of - often gross - inconsistencies in her statements and claims, every single time, judge quite shot her down, and very much believed quite and all that I said - because it was all true, it was all consistent, and for the most part I had evidence to back it.

Anyway, good luck dude, but get yourself some solid legal representation - sounds like you need it ... and at least with that you ought have a fairly good fighting chance ... not sayin' it'll necessarily be fair, but at least you probably won't get pummeled into the dirt ... which sounds like about what's happening so far.

I feel like most of these situations would be cleared up if names and sex's were left in legal terms like "plintiff and defendant" and then judged blindly. Judge doens't know until after ruling who was who. Probably not possible since you have to attend in person, but anything to level the playing field and make facts more critical.

This is why I’m scared for my dad’s divorce. Logically, he has the upper hand. He’s got a more expensive lawyer, cleaner financial records, and more evidence. My stepmom pulled the rape card on him and now he’s a registered sex offender until he proves his innocence.

Who knows, maybe it’ll go his way because the initial court date was two weeks ago but the judge rescheduled in the middle of the hearing because my stepmom and her lawyer brought nothing with them. I’m not kidding, even the lawyer showed up with nothing; no briefcase, no papers, no nothing. I know judges are really picky about people wasting their time.

I wish You wrote this a few years ago so I couldve fallen back on this advice. I also fell into an eerily similar situation, ordered to do supervised visits even though my child was taken because I was in jail waiting to see the judge and the ex wife was strung out or too drunk to take care of our 6 month old infant. The neighbors called the cops on her, not once. Not twice. But 3 times. It took then 3 times of my ex wife being to intoxicated to properly care for my child to the degree that she was taken and put in the system! During the divorce, im stuck paying alimony, child support, no custodial rights. Oh ya and the supervised visits I was ordered to pay for, were contracted through a company the judge was a partial owner in. I love this world.
