Idk, it just feels really weird that I can identify sexism towards women but a lot of women seem to fail to identify that being a man doesn't exclude you automatically from shitty expectations.

They are pretending not to notice. They only care about themselves but are not stupid enough to explain that to "people like you". In many cases lots of the problems men have exist because women as a gender are benefiting from those things.

It's actually kinda funny how biased they are without realizing it.

A guy says a particular woman is trash: "Ugh, he's clearly a misogynist who thinks all women are horrible."

A woman says all men are trash: "Stop being so fragile, she clearly didn't mean all men. You're probably one of those men she's talking about."

Of course, and it goes beyond Reddit. In popular culture it's common to impugn men as an entire demographic without consequence. On talk shows a common applause line is stuff like: "Men, aren't they just awful?" And of course when men are significantly surpassed by women in some regard, it's celebrated.

This kind of attitude unironically pervades the culture.

I got banned for /r/TrollXChromosomes because I disagreed with an entire thread claiming the only reason men do the often dirty, sweaty, difficult and dangerous 'outside housework' is so that they can be seen by others and therefore diminish all the work a woman does inside the house.

The only reason.

They don't want to see it. It's a place to go to 'vent' (i.e. be sexist) and have other people approve your venting and constantly establish they are victims of the oppressor class (i.e., men).

I'm still subbed and I'm bookmarking all the hateful comments so I can report them directly to the admins. It's not revenge, just a consistent application of Reddit's clearly stated rules of conduct.

I would report directly to the mods, and I am in other subs, but after one report, they've removed my ability to report any other comments.

I'm just tired of the hate.

In a attempt to play devil's advocate, I believe they're referring to the Girls vs. Boys memes you see around r/memes or r/dankmemes. (locker room ones being most popular) The memes usually involve a comparison between the perceived behaviors of boys and girls in various scenarios. The implication of them are usually that boys are "quirky" and engage in "abnormal or fun behavior" while women are "normal" or "boring."Here's a google search that shows a few examples. There's a whole sub based around it as well.

I see the exact opposite all the time, where men are always considered to be lazy and want to do nothing but play video games and drink.

To be fair, that doesn't really disprove their point that men are often see as "fun" and women are seen as "boring". In fact, it may reinforce it.

Although, I would be interested if anyone would give specific examples of causal misandry on Reddit.

Honestly I think Reddit is probably one of the worst websites on the entire Internet when it comes to misandry. Like, what other website has such a gigantic TERF community? Even after most of those subreddits thankfully got banned, I still occasionally come across blatant misandrists, sometimes getting upvoted too. Like that r/TooAfraidToAsk thread, which is one of the worst examples on a mainstream subreddit I've seen yet. There are also places like r/AmItheAsshole which are known to be biased against men.

Because they aren't expected to imagine our situation in their ideology, or at least, they aren't as much as we are expected to imagine their. We are expected to. Also they see these stuff as "truth" and a lot of people think truth is not offensive in virtue of being truth.

I also see a shitton of enforcement of traditional gender roles, ESPECIALLY towards men.

I think they think it's easier for us. A lot of what they say in regards to this is something akin to "protect and provide women" (though obviously more disguises). They think we are stronger and more respected by default so asking us to protect is something which comes natural. They also think we can get money easier because we get paid more. I think our gender roles are seen as easy a lot of times. I admit I've seen a lot of them talking about how society doesn't respect our emotions very much, but I've seen way more treating that issue as we not learning how to "handle our emotions" and "communicate them in a healthy way" more than the way people react a lot of times: either with apathy or mockery.

One of the fundamental precepts of feminism, deriving directly from patriarchy theory and undergirding a great deal of feminist thinking, is that men's suffering belongs to an ontologically different category from women's suffering, and that this category is fundamentally less pressing and less deserving of empathy or action.

If you confront a feminist with data about how much men face their own version of this problem, you are likely to see that feminist justify their double-standard in a way that reflects the above precept. "We live in a patriarchy", therefore the casual sexism that women face, by definition (but with no empirical evidence) is very bad and pressing and important, whereas the casual sexism that men face is much less pressing. In all likelihood, you'll be told that this sexism, even if as prevalent and frequent as the type faced by women, is so much less pressing that you are being a bad person by bringing attention to it, because you're taking away attention from the much more important female side of the issue.

The precept I detail above has been around so long and embedded so deeply, that indeed many feminists (both men and women) are unable to even detect sexism towards men, whereas they are so eagle-eyed at spotting sexism towards women. A good example would be the following sentiment from Zara Larsson:

Isn't it strange how every woman knows someone who's been sexually harassed but no man seem to know any harasser?

Larsson seems to care very highly about sexual harassment and rape culture, in which she groups in such things as sexist jokes. And yet she sees no problem in writing and performing a song about how she can't be held accountable for her actions towards a man because she just finds him too attractive to control herself. Neither, apparently, do the hundreds of thousands of people who virtually nodded their heads to the above tweet. If the subject is a woman, even a joke is beyond the pale. If the subject is a man, there's nothing wrong saying "It ain't my fault I'm not leaving [you] alone".

A trend I've noticed is that when people talk about a man who acts poorly towards women is seen as indicative of men or society ('patriarchy') as a whole, while a women who acts poorly towards men is seen as an isolated incident or unusual behaviour.

Because for centuries, men have forced women into a very specific and limited role in society and bashed down any who were okay with taking on those roles themselves. Now men are seen as the big, strong breadwinners who have to do all these backbreaking and dangerous jobs just to prove themselves to be big manly mans worthy of other people's respect.

Feminists have warned men for YEARS that this was a shitty deal for everyone involved, but no, they wouldn't listen.

TLDR: Quit blaming women for the dumpster fire YOU STARTED!
