But I'm only 28. Actually, you know what? I think I understand this now. When I was a kid, I used to watch all sorts of shows and commercials, and it was always embarrassing to see the adults make idiots of themselves trying to use slang they didn't understand. I'd think to myself, "when I'm that old, I'll remember these moments and I won't make an ass of myself like that. How can someone be so out of touch that they think all they have to do is litter a sentence with slang and skateboards and it'll appeal to me?" I might not have used that exact wording; it might have been "this guy's an idiot, I won't be a dumb old man when I grow up. I won't forget what stuff is cool".

That was important at the time. I had friends, everything was new, and we were separated from the adults with fresh new ideas and hot new words that either didn't exist before or were gifted a new context and meaning by us. I was surrounded by other kids who said these things, and so naturally I spoke it fluently. But now I'm surrounded by adults. None of us care about things kids like any more. Why would we? We're not going to school any more, and we're not surrounded by the same group of 30 kids like we used to be. We're not forced to interact with each other for an entire year. We have our own things to worry about, and social dynamics between adults are radically different than the social dynamics between children. We have gained new freedoms at the cost of responsibility, and that changes people.

Things that were important to us back then just don't matter any more. When you have bills to pay and a job to go to, who cares if Joe Blow is misusing "fam" or if YOU don't know what "fam" means? You don't even use those words any more, so it doesn't matter. You even come to realize that it doesn't matter what people think about you, so there goes the social pressure to have your ear to the ground for hot new memes. There is a very distinct divide between a kid's world and an adult's world, and the adult's world is MUCH larger than the kid's world by far. It's such a tiny sphere, and it only feels important because the younger you are, the more of your life each day represents.

It's not that we become out of touch with the youth when we grow up. It's that kids are out of touch with the rest of the world until one day, they aren't.

The wiki explains why What we do know about them is from examining cases where false accusations where combined with rape accusations that lost judicially, like in this study. In this data set 41% were deposed (the rape didn't happen, or lost to the standard of beyond a reasonable doubt; it's important to note that this doesn't mean the rape didn't occur in all 41%, just that it couldn't be conclusively proven to the standard of our judicial branches). Oh good, advocating for things based on fears. Fears are entirely subjective and have no basis in reality.

Violent crime of all types has been declining for like 40 years.

You know what anyone can do? Protect themselves. They're down, but yes still happen. Anyone (although I guess this depends on the state, some states don't like people being able to protect themselves) can arm themselves to protect against this.

Im a man, by the way, but I've had girlfriends and friends who have been sexually assaulted in the past and I know how bad it is

They should not have to argue to get an abortion, it's their body that will take the toll. I don't agree with the maternal siding in courts but that's a whole different point here. I can't comprehend your logic that just because you got a woman pregnant and want a child she shouldn't be allowed to get an abortion. Yes there are different circumstances, but that's the butt of this issue.

If you DON'T want to keep the child there's other things that can be done, over months of the pregnancy.

If a woman got pregnant from her boyfriend, of course she should talk with him about it. If she gets pregnant from a one-night stand and she knows she doesn't want this child, she should try to find this person and discuss with them? No. Circumstances are circumstances. FFS.

If I were forced to carry a child I didn't want, I'd probably just kill myself. As plenty do. It's a bad enough burden on the body and mental health as is, but knowing none of it wasn't wanted in the first place would be too much.

Again, would you enjoy the government deciding the fate of your family? Did you know that the particles that make up a table, don’t make up a human? Men do pay a fine, they risk ruining their lives due to unsafe actions, child support, alimony, housing, and responsibility, that’s what men risk when they decide to engage in sex. Women? they risk losing attractiveness and confort for a couple of months. Education? Pregnant women are now allowed to continue an education , whether high school or college, due to them being sent the material at home. Work? maternity leave. Do you really believe that people that engage in sex, are not aware of the consequences of their actions. If they are not, that’s the school and parent’s fault, not society’s. What do you mean by “you people?” Again, contraceptives, albeit the majority of American sex education talks about the dangers of sex, and that to use contraceptives birth control in order to avoid a potential pregnancy. For the 1% of contraceptives that don’t work, again pull out, by a safer brand, or be careful. It honestly isn’t that difficult.

My experience over many months in Western Europe is that American tourists are generally 20-30, loud and all use the exact same phrase: "You guys are so much smarter over here." Additionally, it's been my experience that people abroad who loudly boast about their country being awesome are usually Canadians.

Yes of course. You’re right. I’m just using tests as a proxy for real world performance, which is what they are supposed to be.

But your assumption is that Norway would decrease the amount of women in a war, which I don’t think would be the case. Take the Soviet Union during ww2. They definitely lost a lot of lives, but their response was to increase the amount of women. And regardless how you feel about that, the women did pretty well for themselves, even compared to men.

I don’t see why this should be discouraged, especially if we are seeking equality, and that females should be held to the same standard as men. The way I see it, you’re just blocking off 50% of your potential manpower by doing otherwise, which might be desperately needed in a war

Do they now? I think the divorce rate and the amount of single mother homes say otherwise. A lot of mothers are not good mothers and they start out by choosing terrible fathers. Why would I want to subsidize this? I get your point, but is the family life in Norway as dysfunctional as it is in the U.S.? Anyway, I am being cynical. I understand the broader good. I just grew up with a couple of not so good mothers and the thought of them getting rewarded for their "work" other than a roof over their head that the income provider provides is too much for me. This idea that their work is unpaid is true or maybe not. Spouses very often are given access to bank accounts to spend at their discretion, despite not having a paying job. How does that work? They also are compensated with a roof over their head, food on the table, and whatever necessities and provisions their income provider is willing and able to provide. Their job requires skill, but they aren't required to have any skill in order to become a mother. The barrier of entry is so low, that paying mothers encourages deadbeats to have children.

I don't think mothers should be paid for not having a job. Just another privilege that will be afforded to women. It wasn't possible for me to even be a stay at home father. I tried not having the ambition that was required to be a father and a husband and it didn't work because women won't let it. They don't want men who stay at home. They want money(a financially secure partner) above all else as a group and the option for themselves of having a career or staying at home. You think this is an equal relationship, but it's not and it wouldn't be. Hypergamy is real and this proposes to burden men and help women, even more so than than they are already advantaged with regard to parenting, staying at home, and HAVING that choice. Frankly, I'm sick of the past 50 years of effort going almost solely to women regardless of whether or not men are doing worse. Your feminism is cancer. And fuck this idea that stay at home women have it rough. There are so many single and two kid families that just don't require the amount of effort that is claimed. Women absolutely do not work the 40 hours per week that is considered full-time and especially not so when children are in school, which is the better part of their childhood. Their "labor" isn't documented and it doesn't create income. It's a cost for everyone else so women who have kids can live their best life while everyone else toils for it. You seem to forget the intrinsic value in having kids. It's a desire most people have. Some people can't do it because they are single and poor, most of them are men. This policy will not be worded as sexist, but that is how it will turn out.

I'm obviously giving you an American perspective. I have my doubts about their being anything close to a 50/50 split with regard to parenting in Norway. Maybe so, but it's not happening in America. Far different value system.

This is a privilege extended to both men and women. Fathers here get 3 months fraternal leave automatically, which cannot he transferred to the woman, so you’re guaranteed the ability to do so regardless

The whole deal with “women won’t let it” is absolutely not true. Your wife might not, but a lot of women do. My brother and his wife spends equal time being stay at home parents. It works out really great for them, and think it’s unfair if you should revoke their privilege to be able to do so because you don’t want to privilege women. That would hurt my brother more than his wife

And it’s not being paid for not having a job, it’s being paid for having a really important job for society: that of being a parent. And in fact, and interesting observation is that in Norway mothers are actually more likely to keep working part time than fathers are. If you wished to be a stay at home father, look at how we do it in Norway. We have among the highest rate of stay-at-home fathers in the world. And that’s a good thing. Fathers have more parental freedom here than anywhere I know of.

But ultimately, it’s what’s good for the child that we should focus on

Theres a lot of incels who have had sex, they are just involuntarily celibate now. It happens a lot with the elderly or medically infirmed/unable to have sex. Grandma isn't exactly going to have a man in her bed now that grandpa is gone but she might want to you know but can't for whatever reason beyond her control, same with hamplanet sized guys and women who can't physically accomplish the deed. A lot of people with debilitating, terminal, or difficult medical issues get left high and dry, literally and figuratively, when their partner decides to leave and they now they have massive difficulties in finding a new partner.

The recent incel stuff though thats almost all younger men that are either on the fringe of society or are on a path to the fringe of society, whats weirder still is there are plenty of non neet incels. Lot of them have checked completely out on the world, more than just a handful are just a lil bit angry about it because there just isn't a woman (or men, lots of angry gay and women out there) that they are being isolated and isolating themselves from normal human interactions.

The statistic is a false percentage and a true statement.

Men aren't believed when they say they've been raped by a woman.

There's cases of men being laughed off by police departments for trying to report their rape.

False rape allegations are bad and a significant problem do a quick scroll through this sub you'll see case after case of this ruining men's lives.

Please stop diminishing bad things that happen to men.

Also like I said the number of rapes against men if you include corrections facilities becomes staggeringly high.

You rebuffed that by saying well that's men raping men.

That doesn't change what I said in any way.

There's no logical fallacy here.

You want to say that women are raped more often than men that's untrue when you account for prisons.

I don't give a single fuck who rapes who being raped is traumatic.

And I promise you that every single correctional facility rape is a violent rape which is only a small percentage of the number of rapes against women in the outside world.

Most of those numbers are date rapes traumatic and horrible but not violent.

Feminism = Wanting women to have equal rights so that we can all be equal

Feminism has not helped men, because it's a cause with a currently incomplete goal. Feminism will remain unable to help men if people like you exist, believing that it's a cause born from misandry

Feminism is an cause born from egalitarianism, as giving women equal rights to that of men is a means of achieving equality. Another method could be reducing the rights of men, would you like that as an alternative?

Feminists didn't create toxic masculinity, they just gave it a name. Toxic masculinity harms men and women, as it results in degrading mental health in men (repressing emotions leading to depression & stuff), and abuse of women (believing that men need to be fierce and dominating to be real men)

Rape culture is another thing that was only named by feminism, and has still existed for a long time. While the definitions of it by most can be incorrect, the basic idea is still true. Rape isn't seen to be as terrible as it should be

No, sexism is not real feminism, because it's not real belief in equality. Just because it's what most people believe feminism to be, does not mean that's actually what it is. Sexism is not a mainstream form of feminism. That's like saying being straight is a mainstream form of being bisexual. They're completely different things
