I completely agree! And to add to your point, it is actually really easy to show respect and appreciation. I'm not saying that to be rude, it's the truth. My husband lights up when he comes home to a really good meal. I cook every night, but some nights the meals are less inspired than others- we have 3 little kids (plus one on the way).

There are plenty of ways to show him love, but sometimes just a simple gesture can go a long way.

I just bought my old man a pair of work boots. Anything pertaining to work he's thrilled about. Depending on how long he's been working, he sometimes gets a mani Pedi. A few years ago he bought me a Bissell for my birthday. In blue, my favorite color. Give and take.

44/man here. Married 23 years.

My wife spoils me and treats me right. She brings me home fun treats if she's out somewhere and is in a position to do so. She volunteers to sit on the couch and read a book while I watch some random scifi/action movie that she wouldn't be interested in.

She takes me to my favorite restaurant that she is not the biggest fan of, as a thank you "manly things" I do around our home. And when she does, it's just a "are you ready for lunch? How about we go to XXX?"

Our relationship is amazing, and it's because we make efforts like this for each other whenever the opportunity presents itself.

It's nice to hear other women echo these sentiments. Things like this are the makings of a great partner, on both sides.

Most men are so deprived of affection that even a "How was your day?" would feel like being spoiled.

It doesn't take much. Just simple shit really. Most dudes don't even know what it's like to be shown basic courtesy.

Literally 99 out of 100 females I come across either avoid eye contact, give side-eye or outright just scowl at me throughout my day-to-day routine. I get that for a female, it probably gets annoying when every dipshit you come across is trying to figure out how to cum in you in some way shape or form, but I'm just trying to buy a coffee or something from these women and they can't even exercise basic customer service or niceties any customer should receive. It is what it is but it is just kinda annoying. I actually get pretty weirded out when anyone actually treats me well. My "antennas" go up and I just start thinking, "Okay, how is this person trying to take advantage of me? Am I about to get robbed? Whats going on?"

Agreed, spoiling should go both ways.

I do think a lot of women in happy relationships are spoiling their men, but it flies under the radar. Romantic gifts for women tend to fall into a few categories- flowers, chocolates, and jewelery. But there isn't really a stereotypical gift for men.

So far this year, I've done nice dinners and sex for my husband (of course). But I've also given him a circular saw, taken road trips for hiking, escape rooms and double features at his favorite drive in theater, as well as renting a supposedly haunted mansion for overnight ghost hunting with friends. You're not going to see it on a Hallmark card, but he's pretty spoiled.

My female colleagues do all these for me at work. I even forgot my own birthday (I don't care about that shit) but they still remembered and threw a party, bought cakes and gifts etc. :-)

Beware some don't like to receive much. Personally I'm happy with something really really small: a small pack of sour gummies is about my limit. Maybe for my birthday I can accept something a tiny bit bigger, like a bottle of wine, but nothing crazy. If someone goes out of their way and does something big for me it makes me really uncomfortable. A girl I was seeing kept making me such big and perfect gifts that I could not ever accept them. So make sure you check what he's comfortable with.

I buy my dad, my brother, and my boyfriend random gifts. Dad and BF sometimes get flowers because they love them as much as I do. Literally got my BF a cute bouquet the last time we were meeting downtown for lunch. Went out of my way to buy my dad a new shaving machine charger the same day his old one broke. My account ballance is bleeding right now because I got him better collagen pills for his knees. I pick up my brother’s favourite soda when it’s on sale.

Women buy their loved ones thoughtful little things all the time, same as men. I got two awesome little finds just this month.

Obviously everyone deserves to be shown love and appreciation and everybody needs alone time gaming or out with friends. Normal people let their partners have that. I don’t believe in one-sided coddling and princess treatment since we’re all equal adults with our own incomes.

I belive most of my female friends spoil their man. My problem is that most of them treat it as "reward" for being usefull, its never a gift that is for free it is repay for something he have done before or its debt that man need to repay to her in the future (and its better to have same or better value). Basicaly they do what you can read on reddit about "nice guys"
